Customer Reviews

Great for someone with OCD I'm one of those people who likes my kitchen counters to be essentially clean of all clutter that isn't 100% necessary or very aesthetically pleasing. I bought a set of Wustof knives that came with the traditional block. I hated looking at that stupid block on my counter so when I found this product I was excited. It works as it should and is tucked nicely away in one of my drawers. Definitely do measure your drawer before buying because it is a bit large. Overall, very happy with the product. 5Reclaimed Counterspace!! Some of my knives had been stored on the counter top in a couple different knife blocks. If you're like me, counter space is at a premium, so with some rearranging, I was able to clear a drawer to move the larger knives from the block to clear at least that portion of real estate. Even with non-skid drawer liner, the knives moved around more than I wanted them to. There had to be a better way to store them. As it happened, I recieved and advert from a company and one of the items they were hawking was an in-drawer knife block. It was a tad smaller than this Wustof model but was twice the price! So I do what I normally do and came over to Amazon to check out their selection. That's when I found 14-slot block. After measuring the drawer to make sure the block would fit (it would!), I ordered same. It arrived in two days and within five minutes, the knives that had been laying loosely in the drawer were now snug in the block, along with the knife steel. And just for good measure, I was able to take the steak knives from the block they were still in and place them in the drawer block as well. So now all the knives are neatly stored in the drawer. They don't have a chance to move around as they are secured within the slots and I've reclaimed long-lost counter space. 5quality piece Solid construction, holds all my knives perfectly. Gets rid of the big butcher block on the counter! :) 5I'm a happy camper with this product, and it didn't cost too much I don't know about you, but I hate having stuff all over my kitchen countertops! Seriously, I don't know why some people want to leave various pieces of kitchen equipment out on display. I like a place for everything, and everything in its place, so my house remains clean and tidy. Clutter and I don't get along. I have a few items, like my big KitchenAid stand mixer, sitting on my countertops because they get used frequently and I don't have anywhere else to store them... but most things are neatly stored in cabinets, drawers, and a walk-in pantry. Life's easier for me this way.I bought this so I could store my cutlery in a drawer instead of in a wooden block on the countertop. It does what it's supposed to do and it fits my kitchen drawer with room to spare. I'm keeping my original Wusthof wooden storage block in case I ever move to another house and the in-drawer block doesn't fit, but being able to store my knives in a drawer makes me happy beyond words! This product looks like it's gonna be easy to clean. That's a big plus. As for the reviewer who complained about knives resting on rubber-coated metal posts, that doesn't appear to be the case with this product. My knives rest on wood dowels, and the entire unit appears to be made of wood. I don't see any rubber or metal anywhere. 4Great product with a minor design flaw, and a simple mod to fix it. This is a solid product and built very well. I had always used a knife block before but having all the knives out they get dusty and also take up some space on the counter. Now I have this in the drawer it makes my counter very minimalist looking even though I put 15 knives in it.This tray is getting 4 stars only because of a minor flaw: it doesn't really accommodate a long, fat knife properly. I'd imagine anything like a standard 8" knife or beyond, whether its a western chef or a santoku, you will either have the blade tip sticking out or the handle rising too high. It rests this way because of the 4 cross bars that run across the slots. They seem to be holding the structure in place, and also preventing the knife from lowering too deeply and touching the bottom surface (a drawer is what I assume where everyone is putting this in).Now there is a simple modification you can do to make it work. Just saw off the cross bars! The tray won't fall apart, it's solidly built and in my opinion can hold its shape even if I saw off the entire bar near the lower end. But since I only need 3 slots for fatter knives, I sawed off the cross member in 3 slots (picture shows 2, while I was still arranging where I want to put the 3rd chef knife). As you can see from the picture before and after, it worked for me perfectly. 4High Quality - Great for storing many knives and honing steel! My storage tray arrived yesterday, and I was excited to organize my knife drawer since it was a mess and I had to carefully reach into the drawer every time I needed a knife. I have a collection of various knife brands including Wusthof. I was able to nicely organize ALL of my knives and Wustof honing steel with room to spare in my drawer for sharpeners and other specialty cutting tools. The quality is outstanding, and I am so happy that I chose this organizer. I looked at many and this one was perfect! Now my fingers and my knives are protected...no more worries of cutting myself when reaching into the drawer for a knife! 5Doesn't work very well in shallow drawers The bolts holding these pieces of wood together on the underside are very thick. Sturdy! The drawback is that it raises the knives, and the angle of the wood that is supposed to cradle the knives makes them stick up a lot. I have 3.5-4" deep drawers and bought this to fit 3 cutco kitchen knives, 4 generic kitchen knives that came with my old knife block, as well as a set of small steak knives to fit in the upper slots. The 3 cutco kitchen knives fit. All the others, no. The combination of the bolts and the angles of the wood did weird things with the other knives so that the handles stuck up too much to close the drawer. Even the little steak knives!So.... nice construction, very sturdy, but you might not want to buy it if the handles of your knives are not puny and/or do not have drawers AT LEAST 4" deep. 3Good but another tray is better I bought this ordered this item and also the In Drawer Bamboo knife holder. This one was sturdy and great but when I compared the two I definitely liked the bamboo better. I have s set of Wusthof knives and was hoping this one would work but the bamboo holder was superior. The bottom and front end is not covered on the Wusthof but they are covered on the bamboo holder so the inside of the cabinet won t get damaged from the blade hitting it. I m not concerned about the blades dulling on the bamboo since there are cutting boards made of bamboo. Also the tray was more challenging to lift out of the drawer to clean as the knives would stick out of the front or bottom. Overall the bamboo tray is superior. 3Love this insert Love this insert! I had a set of JA Henckels knives that comes with a knife block which collect dust over time since it sits on counter top. I recently remodel the kitchen and have a drawer that I put this insert in and it fits all 14 JA Henckels knives and the Chinese chopper knife that's stable enough that it doesn't tilt!! See pic attached. Love this knives insert!! 5A Knife Drawer Must-Have! I bought a 14-slot and a 7-slot drawer insert and they fit like they were custom made for my drawer. Having these inserts has allowed us to keep my foodie husband's massive knife collection organized. He had bought individual knife blade protectors, but they rarely fit well and the knife drawer was a mess. Now we know exactly where each knife is kept and opening the drawer is a pleasure! These inserts are well-made, attractive, and functional--highly recommended! 5
