Great until you lose a ball First of all, let me say that this whisk is amazing as a whisk. Truly fantastic.Second of all, I've used this maybe 20 times in three months, and a ball fell off (I handwashed it only, no dishwasher). Thankfully I found it in my drawer and didn't have to worry about whether or not anyone ate it, but I was very disappointed, as it is so perfect for mixing! 2BUY ME! Wonderful whisk, works as others have commented. I used it to make cornbread which is pretty thick. It did the job well without food being stuck inside the whisk (like in a balloon whisk). This also works well in an up and down motion, and indeed gets into corners well. I would recommend this to anyone who uses a whisk for anything thicker than eggs. I have not tried it for roux yet as a prefer a steel spatula in a cast iron pan, but i intend to try using it for stirring dishes on the stove. I actually found the handle to be dainty as opposed to large and hefty. I haven't made any messes yet but any long handle tool likes to get loose.Update: I've had the chance to use this in a hot pan, some recipes call for adding flour to thicken and this whisk works very well for that, it also works fine for stirring food as you cook. 5A Must-Have Item for Sauces, Egg Whites, Cream, etc. Superb whisk for the making of French sauces, candy and anything else requiring a whisk.. I have a large collection of "regular" whisks, but none can top this whisk. While using it in a pan to stir a sauce or a candy, it is superb. While scraping the sides of the pan, the whisk flattens to provide many scraping edges, while using to stir, it evenly scrapes all of the bottom of the pan. A "regular" whisk do not function well in scraping the pan, the many whisk fins do not touch all of the bottom or the sides at the same time. This whisk had complete surface coverage and prevents delicate sauces from lumping or burning.While using to whisk eggs or cream, it will finish the job very quickly. This is the best "new" kitchen item that I have purchased in many years. I am constantly in the kitchen and do a great deal with pastry creams, egg whites and cream. This whisk performs quickly, with minimum effort. In the past, using my "regular" balloon whisk, it took quite awhile to stiffen the eggs or cream, my wrists became quite tired, the whole experience was quite tiring. With this whisk, everything becomes easy. I wish that I had had this many years ago, it has eliminated burned sauces and lumpy pastry cream. Plus, whipping egg white or cream no longer needs to involve my big, Kitchen-Aid mixer. It is now faster, and the clean-up process is a matter of seconds, to whip everything by hand.As a French chef, both pastry and savory, I can most highly recommend this item. DO but the silicone tipped model to avoid scratching the surface of your non-stick pans, and to avoid scratching your nice, shiny mixing bowl. Hugely Recommended! 5Great for batters! I purchased this as a gift for a relative who loves to cook. I already have two of them in different sizes and am very pleased with them. They are perfect for mixing pancake batters that need to be babied so that they don't get tough when they are cooked and I also like them for mixing eggs for omelets. They are a breeze to clean and well enough constructed that I expect them to last a very long time. 5Perfect whisk for cooking and sauces. I had one of these whisks for years until a family member "borrowed" it so now I have to buy another. I'm glad it's still available. I like it better than a standard balloon whisk for cooking sauces and folding ingredients on heat because all the turbulence is created at the bottom where you want it, causing less splashes at the surface. It is also much easier to clean. For things like incorporating air into egg whites it is somewhat less efficient than a balloon whisk. But a superior solution for cooking. 5Performs Even Better Than Expected I love this small sized whisk. Like most cooks, over the years I have accumulated a variety of balloon whisks in all sizes -I use the small ones mainly for vinaigrettes with mustard, and cole slaw dressing, and truthfully didn't realize that there was something better out there... this mini ball whisk.These dressing are made in smaller bowls and using a mini balloon whisk, it was a pain to incorporate the mustard and other ingredients thoroughly, especially around the sides of the bowls.My cole slaw dressing, mainly mayo, was a cinch to mix completely, with very little effort. Adding EVOO to vinaigrettes is fast and easy too. This is a great little addition to my kitchen and I know I will use it regularly for many years as it is so well made.I also purchased the large whisk and the one with the silicone balls and I am very pleased with them both.I have now removed numerous balloon whisk from my utensil holders .. leaving room for these whisks to 'spread out'. (the only problem being because I am a pack rat... and refuse to get rid of items in good condition .. I have to find another place to stash them.) 5My favorite kitchen tool! This has become my favorite kitchen tool... I am SO glad I found it! Before I got this, I was using the cheap silicone covered whisks that are so common, but inevitably the silicone coating would get chipped off, exposing the metal (and thus scratching my pans!) They are also bulky and make my small, narrow utensil drawer hard to close. So I was on the hunt for something better, more streamlined, and THIS IS IT! This is an absolute joy to use. It is sturdy, doesn t scratch my pans, and the design is fantastic - it blends sauces so well. Plus, it s cool-looking as well. I have since bought several as gifts. 5Quality product I had been using a ball whisk where all the rods were the same length - perfect for stirring my morning healthy drink and my protean power/Vit C drink at lunch. The only reason I rated this 4 stars is because the rods aren't all the same length. I had to get rid of the old whisk because the chrome was coming off the balls and overall just wasn't as clean as this one. So now I whisk the ingredients into water in a measuring cup so I can have all the balls touch the bottom because I can hold the cup at a slant. I am able to whisk the protein powder and Vitamin C in the tall glass I will drink from. The quality of this whisk is superior to my old one. 4however improper or careless use of the tool can deform it rather easily, tread lightly here Superb design and functionality, period.There are a few complaints here about the handle weight, but they seem to miss the idea of the tool. It's not a tool intended for use with brute force, as slamming it into the sides/bottom of the pan or bowl will deform the wires. The handle is weighted to give it all the downward force it requires (and as much pressure as it should sustain to keep it's shape), just the lateral motions are supplied by you. While this functions well as an egg/cream whisk, it's intended purpose is in-pan whisking and de-glazing, and as such isn't designed to be left standing in the pan alone. A very light touch can make this whisk more utilitarian, whisking ingredients together in bowls faster than most others could, however improper or careless use of the tool can deform it rather easily, tread lightly here.If you need a more balanced whisk that can be left standing after mixing, there are numerous lightweight nylon/silicone/metal whisks out there, each designated as utility or with it's own singular purpose in mind (some get VERY specific about what they do and don't do). You wouldn't use a baseball glove for welding protection just because it looked interesting, buy the tool intended for the use you need. 5Great for light work. This is a great whisk for light work like whipping eggs or milk. The whisk whips up milk nicely and is great to use on my ceramic pans due to the ceramic balls put there to avoid scratching the pan. My only criticism, hence the four stars, is that is can't handle thick products suck as buckwheat pancake mix as the wire arms do not have the tensile strength necessary. For this I would revert to my double balloon, balloon, or french whisks.RATING: 4 Whipped eggs 4
