    Reliable EZ to install... Refrigerator was warm but freezer was cold. noticed ice buildup in back wall of freezer. unplugged the refrigerator until ice was gone. replaced defrost thermostat and TADAAA.... been working since for months!!! Some techs estimated a 500 usd fix :( pfff. really EZ to replace! 5... a go with my Craigslist find that had a bad one. Installation was straight forward - I had ... saw that other reviewers were using this as a replacement for their Amana sub zero fridges - decided to give it a go with my Craigslist find that had a bad one.Installation was straight forward - I had to replace one of the connectors as it was different but this has addressed the fridges issue of freezing up and now the fridge is working flawlessly 5Perfect Replacement. It was sealed in the OEM plastic wrap and was exactly as described. I installed this without any issues, but had to cut one end off and attach it to the old connector because the connector was different. Overall, completely satisfied and the refrigerator works normally again. 5Good Deal My Amana refrigerator stopped cooling. I noticed that my old thermostat was bulging. I took it apart and re-soldered one of the leads to get back up and running until my new thermostat arrived. The new thermostat works great. This thermostat was half the price of the last one. 5Solved my problem Simple to install and solved my problem. The old one was obviously fried. I repaired a $3600. 7 year old Amana Ref. for $10.00. The local repair center had told me I would be better off just getting a new one. They didn't even want to look at it. I guess they were wrong. It's been running fine and defrosting itself & making lots of ice for several weeks now. Prior to replacing the thermo. it was not making ice and frosting up in two or three days. 5One important modification needed Keep in mind even so this part is listed as direct replacement OEM part by Whirlpool, Maytag and Amana, the brown connector plug may not fit your original wiring. Product picture on Amazon for some reason doesn't show what exact connector the brown wire has. My old Amana refrigerator thermostat had round style plug and this replacement come with flat style plug. Good thing I didn't throw away old faulty thermostat right away. I had to cut brown wire with round plug from the old thermostat and used wire nut to connect it to the new one. Once connected you have to fill the void inside the wire nut with silicone in order to prevent moisture getting inside. Other than that thermostat works just fine. 4Stopped defrosting My 1996 Amana fridge quit defrosting, I ordered the defrost stat and the defrost timer as well. Changed both out just to be safe.Fridge is working properly now.Whirlpool R0131577 Defrost Timer 5Perfect replacement for old Amana refrigerator The defroster thermostat on our 16 year old Amana completely stopped working.This item looks exactly like the part that needed to be replaced.Found this part on Amazon and based on previous reviews took a chance even though it said it was for Whirlpool.Took me 10 minutes to replace and our freezer was working again.Saved me from buying a new fridge (my joy but my wife's disappointment). 5Half the price a local parts store quoted. Unit works fine. Did have to solder the round connector from the old unit to the new one. 5Genuine (Real) Manufacturer's Replacement Part This is a genuine (Electrolux) Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag, et al manufacturer's part which is working correctly. I expect many years of service from this part. I truly recommend original OEM parts replacement. You just may need to splice wire(s) to match your wires.Although, after installing this new thermostat, I realized this was not the actual problem I was having with the fridge. I found out it was the condenser (compressor) motor fan.FYI: This part is not the most common problem for refrigerators not cooling/freezing properly... I would say it is the defrost timer. It's easy to determine if your timer is bad just by watching it like a clock to be sure it is advancing and entering the defrost cycle. Some timers are 10 hours on/~30 minutes defrost or 8 hours on/~30 minutes defrost. A quick check is to manually advance your timer to the defrost setting and check that it has advanced within 1 hour. 5
