So much lint after washing and drying, I had to wipe down both the washer and dryer, and they shed black powder after drying them completely. After 3 cold water washes without detergent, these black towels are now dark grey, and still shedding both black lint and POWDER. Utterly disgusting. For $50?! Obscene. Frankly, I've had so many bad experiences with Amazon towels and sheets, I consider the company to be a worthless source for such things. 1900 Gram Egyptian Cotton 6-Piece Bath Towel Set by Superior These are nice quality towels that a very similar to what I have experienced at numerous fine hotels I have stayed at.I do not like the plastic bar code tag that is attached on the items though - it is a little difficult to cut off close to edge without damaging the product. Take you time when removing them.As far as the smell others have mentioned - Yes it is present. What other reviewers may not be aware of is that this is a chemical that is added to prevent insect damage to the towels while they are in storage/transit. Who wants to buy towels that are carrying insect larvae, or any type of moth that eats Keratin. They may smell when received but it is something that can be washed off quite easily. I would rather deal with the smell than introduce cloth eating insects into my home.These are not "pre-washed" so expect a little lint the first two to three wash/dry cycles.You are paying a reasonable price for a quality Towel Set; but without the fancy packaging, pre-washing or high price.Additional color options would be "icing on the cake".Wash them delicately and dry them with low heat and they will not shrink or ravel.Wash them with a minimal amount of detergent to prevent soap buildup, since this makes the fabric rough.They should last quite a long time. 5Heavenly Soft While looking for towels recently someone on the Amazon discussion forum recommended Superior 900 gram Egyptian cotton towels. I have had high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and love those but , had not tried towels before.I decided to try one set as a test. When they arrived their softness completely surprised me. Even before being washed. The first wash cycle I used a half a cup of white vinegar to remove the chemicals sprayed on them. A lot of lint did come off the grid drying cycle but , not more than I would expect a set this heavy to have.While these are listed as the color purple I would say that they are a beautiful shade of Lilac or Lavender. These towels have quickly become my favorite due to their heavenly soft feel. I plan to by more colors.These are also one of a very few towels I feel confident enough to gift.They only have one drawback and I see it as a minor one. They have paper tags that disintegrated during washing, that makes a mess in the washer, so I recommend removing the before washing.They do a great job of towel drying my.thick long hair. Overall this is the best towel buying experiences I have had and would give them my highest recommendation. 5Next Time Turkish Cotton Initial impression does not match the website description nor many of the reviews. If, as the seller suggests, these become softer and loftier after laundering, I will up my review.I'll compare these to FrontGate Turkish cotton towels.FrontGate: They cost an arm and a leg...and another arm. Extraordinarily soft and thick when new; the softness stays but the thickness melts away with launderings. The loops are so tight (good) that I need a magnifier to see they are not single strand. The colors have a beautiful sheen when new, but that sheen leaves with laundering. The stitching is very clean, looks like high craftsmanship. But these are not worth the small fortune charged, considering the loss of loft and sheen.Superior 900: Good price. Not particularly soft, only marginally thicker than average towels. Would not describe these as "luxurious", just better-than-average. The loops are obviously loops; there's an obviously less luxurious feel than with the tighter loops. The color shade is fine but it's basically flat from the start. The stitching is solid but while the FrontGates have perfect, solid seams with a single, tight straight stitch (classy look) the Superior's have a double chain stitch that makes the edges look coarse and just not particularly classy.Bottom Line: To me, towel quality is mostly about softness and loft. These are not impressive in those 2 areas; they are a decent value for a good-not-great towel set. So next time I'll be looking for reasonably-priced Turkish cotton that maintains great softness and loft. 3Disappointing after several washes! Product update: For the first four washings these towels were so awesome that I sent them (in white, thank goodness) to a friend as a gift. They are thick and luxurious, and they still are. The problem is that despite washing them according to directions, and despite never using bleach in my washer, the beige towels have lost color in spots. They look like I have poured bleach on them and it's a disappointing mess. Also the towels have started to unravel along the edges. I'm sad and shocked. Returning them would be quite a hassle as they would require a huge box. Before purchasing I posed the question about color retention, and received answers that indicated this brand of towels were color fast. Not these. Still trying to decide what to do about this disaster! I would definitely not recommend ordering the beige color! 2"Better than hotel quality" We purchased six sets of these when we launched a short-term rental property and could not be happier with the investment. Customers mention the linens and towels in their reviews as being "nicer than any hotel I've ever been to." The towels and washcloths have stood up to three months of service, with frequent washing. Due to the fact that the washcloths take more abuse from guests, we ordered extra washcloths of the same type from Superior.We strongly recommend following instructions found elsewhere to use a vinegar wash the first time to remove any manufacturer anti-insecticide residue, followed by a second baking soda wash to neutralize the vinegar. This is supposed to help ensure they are as soft as possible. We launder in cool, conditioned water, using HE detergent and oxygen bleach. Stains are removed either with a pre-treatment or preferably by just letting soiled towels or wash cloths soak in an oxygen bleach solution as long as needed before laundering. Believe it when we tell you we've seen some pretty badly stained washclothes, including makeup, but they have always come out clean. 5Not good at all! I can't even give this product one star, but had to give at least one.They talked quality, but that's NOT what they delivered! We bought these for our daughter and she's told us how bad they were. First time she washed them, the colors washed out!She sent pictures recently of them coming apart with threads fraying and coming apart!!If you call that quality, you don't know what quality is!!!P.S. She ended up throwing them out!!! 1If you are looking for high quality towels, look elsewhere I had done a lot of research before purchasing these towels and was expecting a high quality product for the price. What I received was towels that looked more of a deep purple rather than navy. They had a faint chemical smell that was made far worse when I washed them. Ran through the wash twice both times on warm in my front loader with vinegar to attempt to fight the odor which was mostly dissipated after the second cycle. Towels shed a LOT in the dryer which was expected based on other reviews. After removal from the dryer they were already falling apart (pictured). Upon closer inspection edge stitching was different colors on different towels (pictured) and was not an exact match to the towel itself. Extremely disappointed in the quality. Set was returned. 1Strong smell of pesticide even after several washes with white vinegar I've read several reviews saying you need to wash them a couple of times with white vinegar. So I washed twice with white vinegar rinse but they still smelled of pesticide, so I washed a few more times (I didn't dry them between washing, the smell was noticeable while they were wet after each washing) - they still smelled. Washed them 5 times total with white vinegar rinses and though they still smelled, the smell was subdued quite a bit so ran them through the dryer. After drying, they still smell of pesticide, though it's much less than they were at first.UPDATE after three weeks - the smell is finally gone after using and washing them normally several times.They are thick and soft and feel like very nice towels.Oh ... I also read reviews where people said "no way are these 900gsm" ... so I measured the bath towel (a little less than 1 square meter) and weighed it (940 grams) ... so think that confirms that the towels I received are 900gsm. 3Super soft, bulky cotton towels. Let me start off by saying how picky I am about my towels. When I pay good money for something, I expect a good product and there are so many not-so-good over-priced towels out there.These towels appear to be good quality. They came quickly and they are soft and fluffy once washed (I prefer bulky, super absorbent towels. If you don't then I would not recommend these.).The good: I have to say that initially, I was a little disappointed when I first pulled them out of the package. They seemed very flat, but they appeared to be well-made and I had read in other reviews that they fluffed up with the first washing, so I decided to give them a chance. I washed them with a gentle detergent and used my smart sheep dryer balls. I was very pleasantly after pulling them out of the dryer. They fluffed out significantly and are super soft.The bad: The towels did have a few strings hanging off when I took them out of the dryer, they came off easily and the towels do not seem to be worse off from it. They also did shed a good amount of blue lint. I anticipated this with the first washing and washed them in a separate load on their own. Hopefully this will not persist.Overall, I am well-impressed by this product. I purchased 2 sets and waited to wash the second until after I had seen how the first came out. I am pleased and I will be keeping both sets. I gave 4 stars because of the strings. If the towels hold up well in the next few washing without losing more of their threads, I will update my review and gladly give them 5 starts.So far, a very good product. 4
