5Five Starsawesome tool very well balanced and built to last
5A hammer that will last for yearsIve been a carpenter for 20 years. I ve had many hammers. This is by far my favorite!! Most wood handled hammers only last a year at least for me. I figured that I will get many years with this handle type.
5but it swings very nice and, like they advertiseI am a building contractor in northeastern VT where the stiletto name is not very popular due to lack of local dealers. I have been in the construction field since high school and full time since and now running my own crew. I have always used a 20 oz and a 28oz Estwing. Due to elbow issues I decided to spend the money and buy this stiletto hammer. It is a dream to swing. Not only is it light to carry around on the job site hanging from your belt, but it swings very nice and, like they advertise, very little recoil. My issue with it however is the durability. I am hard on my equipment. You guys that are in this business too, know how hard your tools take it on a daily basis. The magnet in the nail starter has fallen out in less then 2 weeks. To me, a 110$ + hammer should probably hold up a little better then that. The poly grip handle is very nice to grip and seems strong enough for pulling nails even using the sideways tequnique, but is somewhat soft. The plastic handle on mine looks like it's 10 years old after a couple weeks use. And I'm not talking little scratches, I'm talking chunks. Thinking maybe I should of spent the extra $ in a TI Bone but didn't like the 18" handle. You guys that carry your hammer in back like me know that the longer the handle, the harder it is to get into your loop. Only other complaint after 2 weeks is that the notch for the nail starter in the face of the hammer is plenty big. Iv pounded my shair of nails in in the last 20 years but Iv noticed that Iv bent plenty lately by hitting the nail with the notch of the nail starter. Maybe just opperator error but figured I'd throw it in there. Iv tried contacting stiletto about the magnet issue but no response yet. Hoping for the price of these things, they will stand behind them. Hope this helps
