It is amazing.I was skeptical at first, when I received, I had to ask my husband to put it together for me because I have arthritis and could not do it. He had it snapped on in seconds.I set down and was amazed at how it easy was, I can reach and recline. I no longer have to kick my feet to make my recliner go back down so I can put my feet down. It is a joy!Thank you so very much. 5Great leverage, but, works loose.I needed this for my 86 year old mother's Lazyboy recliner. It does the job, but, I ended up drilling a small hole through its mounting point and running a small self tapping screw through this and the handle to keep it from spinning and creeping off the handle. Once I "modified" it, worked great. With 20/20 hindsight, I should have just taken a trimmed piece of broomstick, drilled holes and attached it to the existing handle and it would look like a broomstick screwed to the handle, but would have saved the overpriced purchase of this soft metal Chinese add on. 3WONDERFUL ASSIST TOOLThis handle assist has been a wonderful tool for my husband's chair. Because they are now putting the levers so low to the bottom of the chair, it was difficult for him to "bring up the foot of the chair". Now he is able to raise the foot of the chair with ease. 55 stars if you have a really sturdy handle for your reclinerThe lever on the recliner this was used on was plastic, so to keep from breaking the plastic (even though it is padded inside), there was no way to get it quite tight enough (per Mom). I think it's clever and easy to use/adjust, but make sure you have a really solid handle on your recliner. Aside from that one issue and the fact that it does weight quite a bit for someone with limited strength/mobility, I would recommend. I'm actually keeping this to use myself when it's my turn for knee surgery (which should be years off, but I expect it to last that long). 3Keeps slipping ... needs tighteningI'm not sure how I feel about this product. On one hand, it does what I needed, make it easier for me to grab on the handle of my recliner so put up and let down the foot stool. You need to put a lot of pressure on the foot stool to get the handle/stool to go back into the regular chair setting. On the other hand, it doesn't stay tightened, so I have to re-tighten the thing. Another thing is that in order for me to reach it with my short arms, I have to put it pretty far up the recliner grab bar, so that when you walk by the chair, your leg brushes up against it and you stumble. Now ... this may be all my fault, because it said in the directions to flip the chair over and tighten the reclining bar first before installing, and I could not do that because I was alone ... and my recliner bar DOES seem to be wiggly. I'm going to get my son to flip the chair and try to find the place to tighten the handle and see if it makes any difference.So final opinion ... I was having trouble reaching the bar to recline and this does fix that problem.The tripping over the handle because it extends too far could just be me having to train myself to walk further away from the bar.The wiggliness of the bar is my own fault, I'm sure, because I didn't tighten it before installing. 3How did I live without having this Lever ExtenderThis universal recliner lever extender is an item I needed for years. Wasn't aware this product existed, All Occupational Therapists need to know this is an option for people. Having dysfunction of motor skills & dexterity reclining or moving forward to get up has been challenging over the years, requiring the arm strength of another person to assist. This extender simple to place on existing lever. Life has improved with this simple device, the process of reclining or moving forward takes zilch energy to maneuver. The product can be utilized by a vast majority of people not just older folks. Would be a great gift to a person who has a recliner & make life easier to relax in your chair knowing there is no effort involved. 5Bottom of tubes rustyExactly what I needed; however I didn't order RUST. The end of the tubes (where it attaches to lever) were RUSTY. Obviously had been laying around a long time, as the rust had permeated the plastic bag..Since Amazon has lately decided to charge those trying to return items, I decided to just use rust buster on it. It works, and I will keep an eye on the spots that might redevelop rust.Poor QC. 3Love this product.I was at my sister's at Thanksgiving and she has one of these. I loved it, ordered it, and love it even more now that it's mine. I don't actually need an extender handle, but it does make the movement of the arm much easier. I've had 2 rotator cuff surgeries on the right shoulder and have a slight tear again. So, bought this to help with the movement so I don't aggrevate it again. But I can actually more the regular arm up and down easily. But this, this makes it soooo much easier. I'd highly recommend this product. Because the handle is large I don't have to reach down so far to grab the lever. don't need it but glad I have it. 5What I've been looking for!Both my wife and I have had difficulty using the skinny little handle that came with our recliners...short and flimsy. And as we get older, difficult to get to the feet up position.Saw this product in a mail order catalogue and looked for it on Amazon Prime. I ordered one for my bride. The handle is slightly offset so it doesn't get caught on the armrest. And it comes with a hex wrench to tighten the 4 bolts that holds it in place. I would have given a 5 star rating if it had come with a litte tube of loktite to keep the bolts tight. GREAT PRODUCT 4solves difficult recliner handleWe used this on a Lane Stallion recliner. It was difficult to lift the reclining mechanism--after 2 weeks of hoping it would eventually work properly, we resorted to this lever extender and IMMEDIATELY we were able to lift the footrest!!!! Why did we wait so long. It is easy to install. It also curves out slightly from the chair so you get a better grip on it. THANK YOU STANDER. 5
