Customer Reviews

It removes a lot of fine hair off his legs and head This tool works well on our yellow lab. It removes a lot of fine hair off his legs and head. With the longer hair areas it requires cleaning the teeth of the brush often. It is nice to have on the days you can't take the dog outdoors to brush him/her.Tip: We have a Kirby upright and the metal hose end measures 1 1/4", but was just too tight a fit to slide onto the sweeper hose end. I heated the end of the this tool in near boiling water for a minute and then slid it onto the metal end of the hose and let it cool. Now it is exactly the correct size each time I use it. 4Not good for German Shepherd Dogs I tried this on my German Shepherd Dog. It didn't remove much hair, and what it did remove got tangled in the plastic teeth - never making it to the vacuum. While it may work well on dogs with shorter hair, and a single coat, on GSD's, mine at least, it was a bust. Much more hair is removed by using one of the grooming combs, like the DakPets, or similar. One short session with one of the combs gets enough hair out of his coat to fill a small pillow. It's a nuisance to use, though, as each stroke through the coat yields enough hair that you have to stop, and remove the shed hair before the next stroke. But, it does a much better job than the Shop-Vac tool. 1Duct tape made it work I rolled into the garage and ran over the end of the hose of my trusty shop vac. Replacing the crushed brush at the end of the hose was easy, but the tube the brush attached to was also crushed, so I gave this a try. The new brush (same as the old brush) fit nicely to the end of the new hose, but none of the included adapters fit my shop vac at the other end (the vac intake). So I cut off the crushed part of the old hose, then cut off the end of the new hose that was supposed to connect to the vac intake. Now I had a hose (old) with one end connected to the vac, and a second hose (new) with the vac brush installed on one end. I got some duct tape and mated the other (cut) ends of the old and new hoses and behold: a much longer hose than before that works great. Now if I can just pay attention and not run over this one I'll be fine. 3Great, flexible and versitle.... Pricey, but worth it. Adapted it to mi 1 hp mini shop vac for in the house. It now has a long FLEXIBLE hose that's easy to manage. Also, don't limit yourself to the fittings they provide. You can pull (hard) or trim off either end and press into any fitting that had the same size ribs on the fitting you want to use. I made a custom hose assembly with this that fit my vac and the fitting I wanted on the free end. Thinking about buying a few more and "custom" fitting them to some power tools I have (router, orbital sander, etc.) 5Yes, it does work as an extension, with the help of a saw. The smallest of the hose adapters can be made to accommodate using this hose as an extension for 1-1/4 inch hoses. I cut off the larger portion with a hacksaw and the end of my existing hose fits in it just fine. People that complain about not being able to use it as an extension hose should try being more creative, because, as you can see in the pictures, it certainly can work that way. 4Replacement Belts Are Not Available Until the belt breaks - and like all belt driven devices the belt will eventually break - it's a decent product and works pretty good on cleaning small areas you can't get a full sized vacuum. It's also easy enough to take apart to remove hairs, lint, string etc that become wrapped around the shaft and inhibit the belt from fully spinning. But it becomes dead when the belt breaks. REPLACEMENT BELTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I searched the Internet, including the Shop-Vac site, for a week and couldn't find them. I finally found a belt of the same circumference but it was too wide and I had to use my razor knife to trim it to size, literally cutting it in half all the way around. And that still didn't get the nozzle to work properly again. Be kind to yourself, don't buy this. 1Yes it fit my Shop-Vac brand vacuum and probably will fit your vacuum as well. This is a perfect replacement hose for those of us that accidentally have run over the original hose after leaving it laying on the floor the last time that we used the vacuum.I read a lot of reviews to try and make sure that the hose would fit my older Shop-Vac brand vacuum and never really could decide if the hose would fit, but I decided to take a chance on this one. This hose fit my older Shop-Vac vacuum just like it should and with the number of adapters that it has I would guess that it most likely will fit your vacuum regardless of brand.Cons:The biggest con to this hose is that it is probably the minimum length that most would find acceptable.Pros: It works and will probably fit most vacuums due to all of the adapters that it comes with and it is a good quality hose. 5Not sized well. The tube is actually 1.25" but the male end is reduced to 1.219" I assume this was done to allow for easy insertion into the accessories. It does just that. However, the length of the reduced portion of the tube is long enough that the tube bottoms out in the accessories before they are fully seated. This is great if you don't mind your accessories falling off as you try to use them.As I hate sending stuff back when a fix is at hand, I simply cut 0.5" off the male end. Problem solved.Seeing as I shouldn't have to 'make stuff work', a 3 star rate is the best I can do. If you're not willing to cut the tube, save your time and money. 38' Shop Vac hose -- not quite as expected . . . I have a small 2-1/2 gallon Shop Vac model L250 (in addition to my big rollaround Shop Vac that mostly stays in the shop). This unit is good for portable cleanups (wet/dry). The problem is its hose is only 4' so you have to hold the vac in one hand and the hose in the other for any elevated cleanups. This 8' 1-1/2" hose looked like the ticket. Only problem is that it comes with 3 or 4 adapters that connect it to different types of 2" Shop Vacs. They don't give you an adapter to go directly to my 1-1/4" little vac. They also don't state that the wand is not removable. It was going back to Amazon until I decided to cannabalize the old hose and use its 1-1/4" hose end for the new hose. Only downside is that I no longer have the short hose. 3"Kirby Style" - Vacuum Massage Cup ... 4.5 starsNice vacuum brush - pet / hair specific for best results.A 2 piece - hard plastic body with a silicone brush insert / massager (OEM Kirby tool is 1 piece - hard plastic bristles / massager). Pet may resist at first - but ours eventually enjoys the grooming / massage. Nice size - attachment angle can be a bit awkward. For our Border Collie: this brush works pretty well - but careful use of the vacuum's crevice tool seems best of all ....NOTE: we use a basic Miele Canister Vac - it is relatively quiet + 6 position power / suction setting switch - which allows the animal to get use to the vacuum sound on the lowest setting - before gradually increasing to position 3 or 4. Expensive, but a worthwhile investment - if possible.PHOTOS:#1: tool.#2: tool + Traditional Vac Brush (green silicone bristles) + 35mm - 1 1/4 in Vac to Tool Adaptor (Miele, Sebo, etc to tool).** all from Amazon / Az affiliates. 5
