Good ProductI bought this for a project...it really cuts down on time cutting regular edge tiles 595% accuarate.Definitely helps cut shadowlines, but not as easy as the video shows. I still find myself having to make a pass with a regular razor knife after I make my top and side scores with the cutter. You could make the cutter work without the secondary pass, but you'd be smashing the face of your ceiling tile leaving a mark on the face where it will be seen. Still giving it four stars, because it helps keep the reveal edge the same thickness, which makes the tile sit nice and flush all around. A lifesaver.We finished our basement this summer and installed the drop ceiling ourselves. We were apprehensive about "guessing" and using a regular utility knife to reproduce the tegular edge in the 3D look tiles we used. A friend suggested using a utility knife, laying it on its side with the tile flat on the floor to cut it one way and then to cut it the other way with it standing on end again using the utility knife. This was inconsistent, clumsy and difficult to get straight (not to mention dangerous). I decided to give the Shadowline Cutter a try because our efforts were not consistent and neat enough with a regular utility knife. The Shadowline Cutter is simple to operate and sure made our big job much easier to do! The blade depth is adjustable with just the turn of a knob and the blades are super easy to change. It has a lip that acts as your straight edge that rides along the surface to keep your cut perfectly straight. Bottom line: It saved us time and headaches having a cutter that would cut consistently and evenly each time. It takes a little practice, and you have to trial and error getting your depth just right. Great product! My husband didn't think we needed it before we started the job, but he thanked me throughout the process for buying such a nice, handy little tool. There really are no directions included, but it's relatively easy to figure out. 5Worked very well for cutting reveals on Armstrong Oasis tilesBased on the positive reviews I ordered this to cut reveal lines on my Armstrong Oasis tiles. It worked very well and providing a clean and straight cut down the sides. I chose to use a utility knife with a drywall square to cut the face of the tile. Using both provided a good revealed edge for any tiles I needed to cut. Definitely make sure to change blades often which makes the job much easier.Also, a side note not related to the product directly...if you need paint to touch up the Armstrong tiles, try Lowes Icon flat white. It is a near perfect match. In fact, I brought a piece of tile to the store to have them color match and that is exactly what the computer matched it to. (This after I tried five different variations of white paints I already had at home...none of which matched close enough). 4Check depth of tile recess before purchasing.This tool was too small for the ceiling tiles I was working with. I called the company and they said the tool was for standard tiles. So check the depth you need because my tiles apparently are not standard so the tool did not work for me. 2Excellent toolI highly recommend this tool for cutting the edge into border ceiling tiles. I just finished cutting a number of tiles in a variety of shapes and every single tile has a neat professional look. The cutter certainly cut down on the amount of time it would have taken to get the job done. It definitely works better than trying to cut the reveal with a utility knife. The tiles I used have a panel design in them and the it presented no issue for the cutter. I will never do a ceiling tile installation without it. 5Worked great with my USG Arctic style clima-max ceiling tiles.Can't imagine anything that works better for my application. Had about 130 square feet of drop ceiling to put in my house and ordered the USG clima-max ceiling tiles with shadow line. This worked perfectly, and had no problems - starting with the first tile cut. It was a bit hard to get the blade into the shadow line cutter, but once in and locked down at the right depth, this worked great. It cut at the exact depth of the manufacturers cut for my ceiling tiles. I ran the guide edge on the top edge of the tile to get the right depth. 5Must HaveI've always hand cut the reveal with a utility knife and after using this tool, I'll never go back. It's slick and easy to use. Buy one and you won't regret it. 5
