Will not honor warrantyAfter getting our entire household new mattresses, we were advised at the mattress store to get mattress/ bed box protectors. We got a couple from the mattress store, and figured we'd get the rest from Amazon. All this to say that, we have seen plenty protectors from different companies and different prices. Our conclusion: we would not be surprised if they were all made in the same factory, as they are all effectively the same. Sure, some might have a slightly different texture, or some might have a better fit, but for the purposes of protecting, they are all equally effective at first and they all share the same shortcoming, which is that they are sort of cheap and will not last the 10 years some will say. What differentiated SafeRest is their 10 year warranty. It is fair to assume that many will choose this brand over a potentially less expensive one, due to their warranty. But since they fail to honor it (look through the reviews), this essentially amounts to false advertisement. For this reason I would not recommend this brand. It isn't less better than another, it is just a liar. 1After ordering the SafeRest 'cover', I realized that what ...After ordering the SafeRest 'cover', I realized that what I needed was an 'encasement' such as this. It was a little more, but it did the trick. We got a mattress that was infested in dust mites. I was covered in bites every morning. I sprinkled Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth on the mattress and put this encasement over it and have not had any issues since. I got the box spring one too. All in all, I probably spent $120 curing the dust mite issue, but if you've ever woken up morning after morning with these bites, you know that you can't put a price on the relief of not having those bites. 5Stains already present on box spring encasementWe just got over having bed bugs. We received heat treatments and the all clear and haven t seen any signs of them. We already had box spring and mattress encasements put on just in case, but we moved and decided to put 2 more encasements on over the other 2 just in case the other two may have been slightly (if at all) damaged. Unfortunately after putting on the box spring encasement from Saferest I saw 3 stains already present...which now my anxiety is screaming thinking I ve brought an infested item into our home. The only thing making me pause though is that it looked brand new and crisp except for these stains. Waiting to hear back from Amazon and I ll go from there. Crossing my fingers nothing bad comes from this! 2I made the mistake of buying something else and it felt like a paper bag on my bedSecond time purchasing this specific cover. I bag up pretty much everything I own. I have an exterminator in. I spray on my own afterwards. Etc., etc. And then I buy one of these, and one of the mattress encasements, to contain any holdouts and protect my mattress going forward.Here's the thing: when I opened the package--and I who could make this up?--there is a bed bug ON THE ENCASEMENT. So when I'm down shouting, spraying, throwing out the encasement immediately, etc., I call the company. I am, shall we say, peeved.And then I found out just how solidly they stand behind their products. Apparently "fulfilled by Amazon" can sometimes mean "sold by, returned to, and then RE-SOLD BY AMAZON." So I got somebody else's used, bed bug-infested encasement. The gentleman I spoke to in customer service explained that while SafeRest's warehouse is quarantined to protect their stock (which means any product returned to them is immediately disposed of and never enters their warehous), they can't force Amazon to exercise the same care.What they could do was everything in their power to make it right, including sending me a free replacement direct from their warehouse, a free can of the newest bed bug spray (Bedlam Plus), and free bed bug interceptors to monitor for remaining infestation. All shipped second-day. And they called back to let me know when it had shipped. (And, by the way: so far, so good--and I certainly feel much safer with the encasement in place).So, the bottom line: given the degree to which SafeRest stands behind their encasements, I have absolute faith in the quality of their products...I'd just recommend buying directly from the company at saferest dot com. 5Good quality, price and fitWe had bed bugs and went through a number of mattress covers before finding some that fit our twin box springs. The cases designed for twin mattresses were all too small. They fit our twin mattress box springs with no problem. They have more stretch in them than the others that we tried and seem more durable. If I had to do it over again, I would have bought this brand for our King-Size mattress as well. We paid an arm and a leg for it at Bed Bath and Beyond. I would recommend this companies products for any one trying to control bed bugs.We cured our bed bug problem by spreading diatomaceous earth around the room to keep them in the bedroom and all around the edge of the bed - emphasizing the base of the bedframe. I slept in the bed because I do not react to their bites like my wife does. I laid a sheet on the top of the mattress cover and rolled up the edges and then put a layer of diatomaceous earth (organic D.E. from Amazon to avoid the silicates in pool-grade diatomaceous earth, purchased at Home Depot)at the edges of the sheet so they had to crawl over diatomaceous earth to get to me. We used standard diatomaceous earth on the floor. I washed the sheets in hot water every morning as soon as I got up. It was a dusty mess for 6-7 weeks but we could track the number of bed bugs decreasing until they finally stopped. I kept up the routine for a couple of more weeks and we finally backed off. We purchased Beddy Bug bait(VCM products, sold by Amazon) to see if we saw any more bed bugs and we haven't seen any since. 5Helpful HintI did not see suggestions from other reviewers until after the encasement was put on the box spring. The suggestion I missed was to cover any sharp edges or corners of a metal bed frame. When the encasement developed several small tears, we continued to see a small infestation. The tears could not be covered with any brand of tape due to the specialized fabric. The seller agreed to a free replacement, while stating that tears were not covered by the warranty. We covered the bed frame with a foam packing material and tape, covering all edges. New encasement is on. I would like to have seen this suggestion from the manufacturer/seller. I am very satisfied with the fabric, zipper, etc. and have encased our mattress as well. The tears are a small issue but I felt important enough to report to other purchasers. 5A MUST HAVE.The quality of this product is unmatched by its competitors. I purchased these for my expensive mattresses and then I purchased Walmarts version of this for my cheaper mattresses. Not even close the same. The extra $ IS worth it. I couldn't imagine Walmarts version doing anything beyond protecting the mattress from food and drink messes, so if your looking for something hypoallergenic or God forbid, bedbug control, PLEASE don't go cheaper and count on the cheaper product to help you because it WONT. This WILL. They are expensive so if you are looking for something to help get rid of bedbugs, at least get this product for your box springs if you can't afford to get the cover for both the mattress and box spring. According to research that is their favorite place to hide so you will have much better success, even if you can only get the box springs covered. This is one of those "you get what you pay for", type of product. Also, I guess I made my Mastiff really upset one day because out of no where, he jumped up on my Cal King bed, and peed ONLY on my side of the bed! Urg! I still don't know what got into him, but I do know what didn't get into my mattress and that was a MASTIFF SIZED gigantic puddle of dog urine. I was definitely glad I had this cover on my expensive pillow top mattress for sure. Also, there is a big difference in comfort. I can't even tell the cover is on my mattress, but the Walmart ones are more of a plastic, tarp like feel to it. Don't even use it now. It was a waste of $ AND it(the Walmart brand) said on the label that is could be machine washed and dried. NOT! It melted on one side. Just get this. It's worth the $ and I'd rather spend $60 well, then ultimately waste $20 for nothing. 5I would recommend anyone who just wants a better night rest to ...I've been using the matress, box spring and pillow covers for over a year now and they are very durable. I wash the pillow covers every time I wash. I did have bed bugs at one point so they did keep everything contained inside the cover however bedbugs that I guess weren't on the mattress found there way to the matress cover and hid in along the zipper crevice. That isn't the fault of the product though. Apparently the bedbugs had spread to other furniture and wanted to make their way back to the mattress but this product kept them out. I would recommend anyone who just wants a better night rest to get this. The pillow covers can be used by themselves and are so soft and inviting for my skin. I suffer from allergies so it helps with not attracting dust or anything that would heighten my senses. 5Very pleased with qualityI feel confident with my box spring encasement. I bought an encasement for my mattress from another firm and it does not seem to match the quality -- the zipper in particular. With this encasement, you know the zipper is attached so well it will provide peace of mind. The zipper for the mattress was not as secure.The only thing you might add to your description is that it's recommended that two people put it on. I am alone and did it myself and it was difficult.Thanks for a great product and quick shipping. 5
