    Great pump, not reliableI used this pump on a super air nautique ballast system. I can tell you that when they work they work great, however it seems they go bad quite often. Next time I think I will try a different brand. 3Livewell pump reviewI purchased the 403FC to replace an old Rule livewell pump. Although getting the old pump out was a chore due to access space, installing the new one was easy. The feature that allows the output fitting orientation to be rotated as needed and the inclusion of a right angle output fitting helped in lining up the existing plumbing to the new pump. All is working well but let's see how the pump holds up over time. Other reviews have been mixed with several mentions of early failures. 4The shipper is great. They are not the bet but easy to change the head only>You can keep a back up on the boat ad change it on the fly! 3Great pump, works as expectedThis pump worked perfectly for me. It was easy to retrofit into the existing connections and hasn't given me any problems at all. One thing to note, I was under the impression that it had 3/4" fittings, but I received a 1" fitting model. It may have been a mistake on my part, so I urge you to pay attention when placing the order. However, it was easily rectified with a couple of PVC fittings from the local hardware store, so no big deal to me. I would buy this again without reservation. 5Good Price & QuietGood Price & Quiet. New Design allows easy peasy motor change out. Replaced with my "3" year old Rule pump with (many hours of running time) which did not allow JUST the motor change out. Also great customer Service. I telephoned, they answered (no hold or phone tree to navigate), directed me to a gentleman who has been with Rule for a looong time and offered great advice as to new pump options etc. From my personal experience, if you fill your Livewell with lotsa bait, i recommend always going up a size as it is hard to over aerate "excited" bait. Tight Lines & Safe Boating 5Will buy again!I have four of these on my boat. I have owned it for 11 years and have only had to replace three of them in that time span. I'm referring to the pump head itself and not the entire assembly. Anything you get over two years on in a marine environment pump wise is a great product. This pump has exceeded my expectations. 50 for 4. Junk!I've had 4 within the past 2 years, and I can't get more than one or two trips before it breaks. It's under warranty, so I haven't switched, but do yourself a favor and buy anything else. So far I've had a pirhana pump on my second live well which has not broken.( I thought that I'd buy one of each and see which one was more reliable). 1good buy highly recommendOnly had this product two months but so far works great. The feature allowing you to remove the motor without tools while out on the boat has saved my bait many times. I constantly suck up weeds into the pump that either inhibit or stop the water flow. I just remove the deck plate and with the pump turned off, twist off the motor remove weeds and reinstall with a twist, turn power back on and bait fish are as happy as they are going to be in a live well. Even my GF has mastered the chore. easy peasy. 4Fitted well and does its job with no issues.I replaced two of my old 700 GPH pumps with this for my livewells with Flo-rite model 3 valves. I didn't have to cut the intake tube and fitted well. Used the old easy connect from Flo-rite and happy with the operation. Fills up the livewells faster. 5Failed with limited use.I purchased this pump about 2 years ago. I have only fished about a dozen times. This last trip out, the pump failed and i had to use my raw wash to keep my bait alive. When I got back home, i removed the pump cartridge to find the shaft leading to the impeller had rusted in half (see image). I think that a part meant to be submerged in water would be made with higher quality material that wouldn't corrode. I did purchase another one because i didn't want to change the pump body. I must say the ability to swap the cartridge is a great feature. That is the only reason this got 2 stars from me. 2
