Customer Reviews

Great buy!Wish they had these carts with my kids were little! This is a well-balanced, sturdy cart that holds tons of stuff. I have to say this because I've seen too many people get mad at the carts....: You need to be smart when you're loading the cart. If you put something heavy in the pouch on the big wheel side, the cart will tip over. We've put 4 camp chairs (the kind that fold up and go in cases), an umbrella, and a mini cooler in the mesh basket, and towels in the pouch, and it's been easy to pull on the sand and doesn't lose it's balance. I love it! 5A must for anyone with kids and a ton of beach equipment! We decided to take a beach trip with my one yr old. I read how far one would possibly have to park before getting to the actual beach in Siesta Key. I immediately start looking for something to help transport our beach equipment as I was not looking forward to making multiple trips to the car. I ran across the Rio Beach a Wonder here on Amazon. I will say it is not the easiest thing to pull across the powder like sand in the Sarasota area (yes it was a work out) but considering the amount of trips I saved having this it was well worth the price. I transported the following items on this cart multiple times over a three day period. A cooler, a sun shelter (beach tent), 2 boogie boards, 2 beach chairs, A beach umbrella, a child's slide, a beach blanket, a bag of beach toys, another bag with our Bluetooth Speakers and Beach towels. All was done in one trip and had a little more room to spare! We plan on taking a couple of beach trips a year (we live in land locked Atlanta) and I am glad to have this little addition to the arsenal of beach equipment. A must for anyone with kids and a ton of beach equipment! You could also look at Bed, Bath and Beyond and it will be cheaper if you use one of their 20 percent coupons. However none of the local stores carried this item (again the Atl market) but other stores in beach communities did. Waited too late to order thru them online, so went with Amazon because our prime membership would get it here in 2 days. 4Great Beach CartThe Rio Beach Wonder Wheeler Wide Beach Cart is a good cart to use for family trips to the beach. We used it for a week at the Jersey shore and found it nicely met the needs of our family of three. (Beach Umbrella, 4 low chairs, SLR in case, Soft Cooler, Baby Bag, Bag with towels, Plastic Beach Toys and Pocketbook) It carries a lot of stuff and pushes like one of those "old lady grocery carts" on the pavement. Once I hit the soft sand, I reversed it onto 2 wheels and pulled it. It's more difficult to pull in the sand than push on the pavement, but nothing unreasonable. I've provided a photo of me, my stuff and the cart on the product page.Pros:1. 10 minute, "tool-less" assembly.2. High capacity for beach gear.3. Rolls on unpacked, soft sand.4. Makes taking the family stuff to the beach a one person job.Cons:1. I wish it had the inflatable gray wheels like previous models.I would highly recommend this cart.Update August 2015: Year 2 at Stone Harbor, New Jersey and our Rio Beach Wonder Wheeler continues to perform well. I have added a few beauty shots from this year. 5Good but not greatMy only other thing to compare this to is the all terrain Radio Flyer (All wood with inflated tires). The radio-flyer was a nightmare on the sand but on any other terrain it was smooth to pull. You'd be dragging it THROUGH the sand with all the resistance you can think of dragging 100lb through sand. So if that was on your list of possibilities as a beach cart, just forget it. The Rio Cart was about 3 times better to use. We had about 5 peoples worth of stuff on it, beach chairs, coolers, beach toys, blankets, sports umbrella. It was easy to pull up to the beach - no issues (as did previous wagon). Then the real test was on the soft sand. Tilted the cart on the large wheels and started to pull the thing on the sand and quickly noticed the difference, I could actually maneuver on the sand but i wasn't going anywhere fast. I wanted to test different ways to pull it solo for the best method, its all the same just pull nice and easy. The BEST way - and i HIGHLY recommend this, is using TWO people to pull. Trust me, save your energy. We just glided over the sand with little to no effort. I think it's all in the wheels, if it was bigger in diameter or wider- i think will improve it a lot.So in conclusion, good cart - with light stuff you will be able pull on your own. When loaded up, get another person to pull with you. Also, when OFF the beach, this is the LOUDEST cart around because of material of the tire crunching on everything. If you ever had a BIG WHEEL when you were younger, that how it sounds like. 4Tire Cracked After Second UseEveryone can agree that getting beach gear with a 2 year old and 4 year old is no easy task... that's why we were really about this product! Well, during our second use one of the front tires cracked. See picture attached. 1The wheels are noisy!I wanted to love this. I had one several years ago and wore it into the ground for various errands and laundry. I bought this larger one to deliver bundled newspapers to businesses. I holds the load just fine but lawd o mercy - the NOISE! I was brought back to childhood and the sound of a Big Wheel - those fun little plastic bikes with the plastic tires. The noise was sort of fun when I was a kid - look at the fun I'm having! It's NOT so fun when people are turning their head to see where this noise is coming from as I roll down the sidewalk to drop off my bundles. It's quite the symphonic clatter. This would not be an issue on sand or grass but if you're hoping to use it on sidewalks, bring your ear plugs and a sense of humor for the looks you'll get.The larger wheels also make it more cumbersome to get into my car. Also - they went cheap on the soft padding on the handlebar. That was a nice feature on my older one. Now they just have about 1/3 of the handle bar padded - and that's in the middle, which makes no sense. (Unless you want to push or pull your cart with one hand in the middle. )Overall, it seems to be a good work horse but if I could have examined this before purchasing, I would have gone for something with smaller - and quieter- tires. 3Photo says allI tried to contact the seller but no button exists to do so. Bottom line, I took this to the beach and in the first trip the front wheel came off. See photo. I do not believe this product is well made. A solid wheel vice a rubber donut on a plastic hub would be more reliable. Spoke to a couple on the beach who had a Tommy Bahama. Costs a bit more but appears it is better made. I bought this a month in advance of beach trip so can't return it either. Would appreciate if the seller could send a replacement wheel. 1Great Investment!!This was our first investment in a beach cart for our yearly trip to Destin, FL. Let me just say that this was a life saver. We have two young kids and many beach toys to take down to the beach each day. The cart worked great for carrying all our gear down each day. The sand was very loose and it was not a problem to pull the cart across the sand to our beach chairs. We carried bag chairs, floats, buckets, shovels, and 2 folding beach chairs on the front of the cart without problems. The cart also worked great when it was time to check out as we used it to haul gear down to the car. We will be using this cart on all future trips; you can't go wrong with this purchase. Just make sure to wash down with fresh water after use near salt water!! 5The alignment of parts assembled at the factory is terrible. The red latch to keep the cart compressed ...As an Engineer, I find that this is one of the cheapest, most poorly made products I have ever seen. The alignment of parts assembled at the factory is terrible. The red latch to keep the cart compressed simply does not work .... it is thick plastic that doesn't fit around the latching boss (it should have been a thin piece of steel) and the slot in the latch is straight instead of curved to provide a true latching effect. Because of these two factors and the misalignment of factory assembled parts, this latch pops off as soon as it is engaged. I am using two bungee cords to hold the cart together when compressed. I am only keeping it because others look the same (maybe even made by the same company but branded differently?) SAVE YOUR MONEY ... DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! 1Very Poor TiresThis cart is only 4 months old and only used less than 10 times. The one tire is coming apart and cracked. I only take from the parking lot to beach so it doesn't get much use. Everything else about the cart is awesome! If you buy the cart better buy the 2 or 3 year warranty also. 1
