    Looks great! I cannot explain how extremely pleased I am with this shower niche. The pictures below explain it all. The niche fit perfectly and saved a ton of time instead of building my own custom niche which would have also never turned out this nice. I will definitely be ordering these for any upcoming projects. 5Works great! but remember that a niche is a challenging tile project. Looks great finished. My contractor originally wasn't that excited when I showed him this because he usually built his own niches. Later he was very happy with it and said he would probably try to use them in future projects. Keep in mind that tiling into one of these and having it look good is an advanced project. A lot of time was spent getting it to all work right. Tile is a lot easier to work with on a flat surface. (One trick - cut down a 16" tile for the back of the upper space.) My contractor recommended tempered glass laid onto the tile at the bottoms of the shelves to make them easy to clean and keep soap out of the grout. These were cut by the glass company that did the shower door and seem to be working great. Two of these (1/2 his ,1/2 hers and one hers) in a shower stall would be best. 5DO NOT USE THINSET TO APPLY TILE This product was exactly as advertised, easy to install, quality construction and accurate size.... EXCEPT, the manufacturer recommended using a traditional modified thunder mortar to apply tile. I did. The thunder did not bond with the ABS plastic. The applied tiles literally fell off the backing within two days. Fortunately, I had not completed the project and grouted yet, so I was able to use a polymer adhesive to affix the tiles. After a little research, I found that many others have had this same problem. Could be a good product if the manufacturer provided the correct information on how to apply tiling. 2Product as advertised saving time and providing piece of mind, but WAY OVERPRICED for the cost to manufacture it. Like other reviews, I agree this product is WAY overpriced as I am sure it only cost's the manufacturer a couple dollars to make it. So that is an immediate 1 star deduction for being greedy. The product itself seems solid enough to substitute for the old fashioned stud frame and provides a great water proof piece of mind.The edge/lip is fairly thick as other reviews have complained about. But this is understandably due to the solid construction and if you are installing it per the instructions, it should end up darn near flush with your cement board (which is what you want). I roughed mine up a bit with 180 sand paper to ensure my tile will stick well and taped the seam against the cement board with cement board tape and coated the seam and boards with RedGuard and I feel confident there will be no leak issues.My only complaints about this product are that they know the purpose of this product is to stick tile to it and should manufacture it with a rougher surface for them to stick to and the price is borderline criminal. With the estimated 90% profit margin on this, I am shocked more plastic mold companies haven t jumped into this market for a piece of that pie. 4The Perfect Shower inset for Tiles We recently had our shower removed and a nice new tile job done for a larger shower. The tile installers do not build the shower insets or shelves and so we were going to have to build our own shelving inside the wall once the old shower was removed. We stumbled upon this tool through a builder's website and found it to be perfect. The size of 14" x 16" allows for 14" studs and 16" studs and can be rotated 90 degrees to fit the stud spacing. It is a firm plastic materials strong enough to hold heavy tile and the installers were thrilled to work with it and it looks perfect in the new show and allowed us to install an inset in less than 2 minutes. 5Perfect Used in our shower upgrade, tall enough for the big bottles with pumps, installed easily. Turned ours sideways for longer and shorter shelves, used the back to showcase a mosaic, just love it. 5Great niches, saves so much time Have bought 4 now and they save so much time. They are waterproof and you tile right to them. 5Best investment ever Best investment ever. I'm thankful that I put based this, its way easier than making your own and having to frame and waterproof. I highly recommend this product to anyone. It fits right in between two normal placed studs...It comes with holes for screws, which made it extremely sturdy after putting 4 screws on each side, this thing is not going anywhere. 5Not quite tile ready The instructions say just apply your tiles and go.Well, High quality Thinset from a well known company did not adhere to these. The tiles popped off with almost no force. I called niche manufacturer and their suggestion was to sand them and try a different thinset. In fact they do kno that certain brands dont work well with their product. Mine was not one of the bad ones.I did not feel like experimenting with 15 dollar bags of thinset so I sanded it and applied some waterproofing membrane I had left over. That stuff sticks to anything. If the tile sticks I'll change rating to 2 stars.Thesr things arent cheap. For the cost and hassle, I'll build my own niche out of 2x4 and cement board next time. 1Great for showers! I got two of these Tile Red niches for a bathroom remodel and the result turned out awesome.We covered them with limestone tile and put an accent stripe through the middle and the end result really made the bathroom "pop"If you are thinking of getting one, you might as well get two because these replace the need for those awful shower caddys or for putting shampoo bottles on the shower floor.The little space below is also nice for putting your soap, if I did it again I would have tried to integrate a soap dish into the lower portion for bar soap. 5
