Customer Reviews
Two Failures in One YearI will never buy this product or anything from this company again. The first Rabbit we got at the beginning of 2016 lasted less than one month. The pin that allows the mechanism to pivot and remove the cork came out, could not be replaced by us, and made it unworkable. They quickly sent us a replacement which, in less than one year, had the same problem take place. Again, unworkable and we are outside the return window. (I assume that it is a manufacturing flaw as the first one we got, years ago, lasted us for a long time.) So, if you want to pay $40 to buy a new fancy Rabbit corkscrew EVERY year, this is your product. Or you can just go with the old standby corkscrew for a lot less money and hassle. And it only take around one minute more to open your wine, giving you slightly longer to savor the anticipation.
1Don't buy this one-I purchased a Rabbit corkscrew and foil cutter from Amazon March 21, 2018 and paid Paid $23.21. Surprisingly it did not work as well as the Houdini we were given as a gift 5 years before that. It was stiff, wouldn;t grab the cork completely and the top would unscrew with the pin falling out. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing but I heard the Rabbit was supposed to be the best-now reading the reviews I see we are not the only ones unhappy. recently when hosting a dinner party my husband had trouble with a cork that broke in half. When attempting to retrieve the remaining cork in the mouth of the bottle of wine the screw literally curled in half. Unfortunately I am not even able to remove it to put in the replacement screw! It is my understanding the Rabbit is supposed to have a 10 year warranty. How do I go about getting this replaced.
1Five StarsAbsolutely love it. I was struggling to open bottles with a normal corkscrew opener. The Rabbit solved the problem.New review - after several months I wish to make further comment. It is an absolute disaster in that it has completely fallen apart on two occasions. I have managed to put it together each time but what a disappointment Never again!!!Further ReviewIt now does not work at all. It is useless - when are you going to respond to me - I need a refund for this inadequate item
1So now I have two of these wonderful devices! I'll probably give the new one to ...I've had my first Rabbit corkscrew for more than 20 years, but then the spiral got bent and it started to push the cork down into the bottle. I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I ordered a new one, which included an extra spiral. I put the extra spiral in the old one, and now it works perfectly again. So now I have two of these wonderful devices! I'll probably give the new one to someone as a gift. I wonder if I can order a new spiral separately, just in case the one on my first one gets bent again.
5This results in poor leverage, meaning a huge amount of force is ...Something is wrong with this product. I've tried two of these and both function very poorly right out of the box. In both cases the ratchet that is supposed to lock the corkscrew usually failed to lock right away, and sometimes failed to lock after several tries, Often the Rabbits would lock after pulling the lever up a bit. This results in poor leverage, meaning a huge amount of force is required to pull the cork. One handle of the second Rabbit I tried broke after a few bottles.I have used Rabbets before that work very well, exactly as designed with very little effort. Something is wrong with this model - possibly a bad lot.
1Highly recommend! Professionally open bottles of wine with ease! No need to struggle or hold the bottle between your knees!I love drinking wine, however, I save my money for wine and will use regular house-hold cork screws to open the bottles. As long as the cork doesn't break, I was happy with the cheap cork screws. My friend kept talking about the Rabbit, and she too had the same mentality as I did. So when it came to buying her a birthday present, I thought that this gift would suit her great, because I knew she would not but one herself. She was super happy when she opened her present and tried it out straight away. When it came time to open the second bottle, I tired out her gift and well, that was the end of getting by using cheap cork screw openers for me!The ease of opening a bottle of wine was shocking! No more holding the bottle between your knees or struggling to get the cork out with breaking it. It is worth using the foil cutter which is shaped like an oversized bottle cap because it will make your Rabbit last longer. Just fit it over the top of the bottle, squeeze, and turn to cut the foil off the bottle. Then it's Rabbit time! Position the corkscrew opener on top of the bottle of wine, pull the lever back, then push it forward so that the screw goes into the cork (whether it is a true cork or plastic), and then pull back the lever to pull up the cork. To get the cork out of the cork screw, hold the two Rabbit handles together, pull back the lever and push it forward. Very easy, great if you do not have a lot of strength, and it makes a lovely noise, just like the noise the bartenders make when opening a bottle of wine at your favorite wine bar!I have bought the Rabbit Original Lever Corkscrew set for myself, and many people as present.I hope that you have found my opinion to be helpful with your decision process to purchase this item. If this is the case, and where Amazon asks if this review helpful, please click "yes". Thank you!
5Not the Original Rabbit by any stretch of the imagination. The original Rabbit used to be a beautiful item - hefty, solid and fun to work with. They've changed material, shape and quality is not there. Mine happened to arrive broken, but even if it hadn't - this new version is really garbage. Pass.
1easier than man handlingPurchased as a gift for mom.I have purchased these many times because they break after a few years. They are made of good quality materials but don't let that fool you.The gearing has broken one set, the handle snapped on another.Says comes with ten year warranty which I've never been able to claim. It's a great product thought, as long as it holds up..
2One of the worst Rabbits I've ever boughtOne of the worst Rabbits I've ever bought. The grip handle is a tad small, I have to constantly jiggle the entire mechanism and turn it at least 90 degrees after the screw unit is fully inserted into the cork to get the cork out of the bottle. Without the twisting pushing down on the handle results in the retraction of the screw, sans cork. Annoying. It's a bad product, there are other Rabbits out there that work normally and "grab" the cork properly. I'm not abusing the gizmo, but I'm definitely waiting for the rabbit to die. Would NOT buy this unit in the future.
1initially worked fine, but after about 10 bottlesinitially worked fine, but after about 10 bottles, it would not extract the cork. Expected better of a genuine Rabbit. Had a knock off which worked for a year. When it stopped, thought I'd go for the original, but quite disappointed.
