    I LOVE this slicer I LOVE this slicer. I was initially in search of a bread slicing guide but couldn't find one I liked and then came across this. The reviews were great, the price was right, and after watching a video that another reviewer posted, I decided to buy it and try it out. Best kitchen purchase ever. Cutting my homemade bread into even, thin slices is so easy! As other people have mentioned, it does work best on cooled bread but I have used it on bread fresh out of the machine and it still works great, you just have to be careful of squeezing the bread. 5Gorgeous and efficient As a novice to bread making I was having a horrible time getting good slices. Not only is this item beautiful, it slices with no effort and I m able to make anything from paper thin slices to thick that make me look like a pro. I can t emphasize enough how beautiful this piece is and am sure it will be a keepsake kitchen tool for decades. I have severe carpal tunnel and it s so lightweight I have no physical issues at all. I plan to buy another as a gift for my daughter to use in her home. 5Very light and sharp. Very light weight with a very sharp blade, I didn t need to exert lots of pressure while cutting hard crusted breads, the blade is reversible by removing two screws that s fastening the blade to the handle. 5Perfect! Over 15 years ago, an aunt of mine received one of these knives at her wedding. I got to use it quite a few times and really enjoyed it back then. Recently, I've decided to bake my own bread and I knew I needed a new knife. I knew what I wanted but I just needed to find it. I looked on Amazon and there it is - at a better price than most other knives I shopped around for.The day it arrived, I washed it and put it to use. The knife continues to live up to my expectations. The blade is sharp and the bread doesn't collapse when I go to cut it. I'm slicing bread for sandwiches and it's perfect. The handle is attractive and it isn't dishwasher safe (at least I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher) but you're slicing bread - it's easy to clean up.I recommend this knife for anyone that has a need for a bread knife. It's an excellent choice and it's an excellent value. 5Best Bread Knife This is my go-to knife for slicing anything bread, from bagels to sandwich bread to banana bread. It makes slicing homemade bread so much easier, giving thinner, even slices every time. I bake almost all of our bread, and until I had this knife, using homemade bread for sandwiches was a little hit or miss. My regular bread knife didn't really do the job well, resulting in slices that were thick at the top and thin at the bottom. Having the wooden side of the knife as a visual guide makes even slices a snap, and the blade cuts so well through all kinds of bread.I also like how the knife looks. When hanging on the kitchen wall, it looks decorative and people often comment on it.Lefties, take note: this particular knife is for the right handed. I'm not sure if there's a left handed knife available, but it's something to keep in mind. My husband is a lefty and has to stick with our other break knife! 5Sooo smooth and straight This knife cuts like a hot knife thru a cold stick of butter! I make homemade gluten, dairy & soy free bread several days a week and this knife allows me to cut thin or thick pieces. Each one straight and smooth! I can cut it hot, cold or warm and the knife doesn't damage the bread like other knives do. No sawing necessary. I'm so glad I finally bought this. I haven't regretted this purchase over the last few months. I also purchased a bamboo cutting board to catch the crumbs and its a very nice combo that sits on my toaster oven daily. 5I love this knife! My husband came with a bread machine. I tried it a few times, but it never really caught on with me until I saw this knife, and decided to give it a try. It slices beautifully, and for some reason (i.e. some reason I can't figure) the guide that never touches the bread works, so my slices are pretty even. Before getting this knife my slices were an uneven hack job of crumbs and smoosh, i.e. bread that looked more like a kids craft project then something you'd look forward to eating. It seems so simple, and I'm not sure why it works so well, i.e. does not strike me as ingenious design, but I must be wrong because it works so well that I love it! FYI, I cheat and use the Hodgson Mills mixes (bought by the case here). It's cheaper and healthier then store/bakery bought bread, and now with this knife I can serve it to family and guests. Oh, and as I commented on someone else's review, you can unscrew the blade and turn it around to make it a lefty knife. 5Lefties Beware! I had two major problems with this knife. First of all, the handle is completely ergonomically incorrect. In order to use any knife accurately, you have to be able to hold it properly in your hand. If you hold this knife the way the handle "fits" into your hand, the blade is pointing to the right, and not down. So you have to hold the handle sideways in order to cut. Secondly (and this is probably my fault for not paying enough attention, which is why my rating is two stars instead of one), lefties can't use this. When you hold the knife in your hand with the blade pointing down, the bread has to be on the left for the knife to work. So if I hold the knife in my left hand, how am I supposed to hold the loaf of bread while I cut? This is going back to Amazon today. 2Absolutely the bestQ Absolutely--Hands Down!!---the BEST product to use when slicing homemade bread. So many other reviews have expounded on this amazing slicer, and they are all correct. I can slice bread thinly and evenly on hot or cold loaves. I've tried other slicers, especially the kind that you put the loaf in and it has guided slots to slice the bread. Nothing I've bought before comes close to the ease and efficiency of using only THIS slicer and a cutting board. Sounds too good to be true (that's what I originally thought) but it really is the best when slicing bread. 5FOR RIGHT HANDERS ONLY Product is great, well-crafted, and works like a charm. It would earn an easy five stars, except for one flaw that's not listed anywhere in the product description: It's also only usable right-handed, which devastated my left-handed wife.Lefties could likely use the product by removing the screws holding the blade onto the wooden hilt and flipping it, then re-screwing it -- we haven't tried that yet, because in a mixed-handed house like ours, that would mean keeping the screwdriver right next to the breadboard.If you're a lefty, prepare to have to hack this a bit in order to make it work. If you're a righty, buy it, it's just as fabulous as the other reviewers say it is. 3
