    Expensive? Yes. But worth it in the long run, because you'll only need one Ok, so buying this slipcover basically doubles the price of the pillow. TBH, I was hesitant to hike up the price of a chunk of foam. However, it's worth it to turn what is basically a foam sponge into a functional and lasting breastfeeding support. Here's my experiences with this slipcover so far:-My LO has had 2 peeing incidents on the pillow. I took the slipcover off to see if it was truly waterproof, and the pillow looks like new! No spilling or leaking. I wiped the slipcover with a disinfectant wipe and was ready to go seconds later... clean up was a breeze!-MY IBCLC has the same slipcover, obviously for hygienic reasons, so why wouldn't it be good to keep my pillow clean?-The slipcover is "crinkly" and slippery, which some people may find uncomfortable. I overcome this by putting the fabric slipcover on over my waterproof one. The vinyl not only protects the pillow, but it also makes it easy to take the fabric cover on an off for washing. I put a blanket on the pillow to create a "nest" for my baby, and the crinkly nature is unnoticeable.Granted, I haven't had the slipcover for years (yet), but I am anticipating the slipcover helping it last for years. While it almost doubles the cost, I would think it's worth it, because it will prevent me from potentially having to purchase another pillow after my LO has multiple diaper or spit up incidents that would get absorbed into the traditional pillow, making it gross and eventually unusable if I didn't have this slipcover to prevent that from happening. (Let's be honest... poop, puke, and pee all happen during nursing and will most likely make its way onto and into your pillow without this waterproof slipcover!)- 5must-have for underneath your regular cover the waterproof cover is a necessity - they really need to include this when you buy the pillow!i came across this item when looking for spare covers for my pillow. i initially wasn't interested - it's not cute and i figured it wouldn't be a comfortable material. but then i saw that everyone recommended putting it under your regular cover to keep the pillow from getting ruined since it was just plain styrofoam - i hadn't needed to wash my cover yet so i didn't realize that it really was just styrofoam. so i ordered one of these and put it under a regular cover; literally that same day my baby's diaper leaked while he was eating, so my pillow would've been ruined right then! instead i only needed to wash the top cover and wipe this one clean - the pillow was perfectly fine. i am so glad i got this! 5100% WORTH IT! This slip cover is totally worth it. I use it UNDERNEATH the deluxe cover, and it makes for a super easy change of cover if my son spits up on it. It was awful trying to change the cover before, since the pillow underneath is just pure foam with no cover at all. I just wrap the excess fabric strap around the "arm", and tuck in the buckle. The buckle could probably be removed if one wanted to bother.My only complaint is... how come My Brest Friend doesn't just make the foam pillow covered in this material automatically? I feel like it's kind of a rip off for the pillow itself. 5Essential accessory for My Brest Friend If you have a My Brest Friend pillow, then you should get this! The cover is vinyl -- no fabric at all, and I can't imagine it would be very comfortable to use without an additional cover on top of it. But it prevents anything from getting through to the actual pillow, and helps the foam keep its shape over the long haul. I use this with the My Brest Friend Deluxe Pillow, Light Green and it is a PERFECT (though unfortunately expensive) set-up.I'm the mother of two kids, and used the My Brest Friend WITHOUT this vinyl cover for a few months with my older child. There's no better support for nursing than the My Brest Friend, but my pillow was pretty gross by the time I had to pitch it. If you've never used a My Brest Friend, it's not really a pillow -- it's a chunk of foam inside a fabric cover. Not particularly durable, not machine washable, and literally a sponge for any liquid it comes in contact with. As much as I tried to keep mine clean, every spit-up, blow-out, etc. seeped through the fabric cover and made its way to the spongey pillow. A terrible system for nursing support. I think a nursing pillow needs to be either machine-washable or wipeable. It needs to be something you can clean!I've dug in my heels about buying a new nursing pillow for my second child, because I couldn't find anything cleanable AND supportive and comfortable. This cover makes the My Brest Friend a real winner, and though it makes my nursing setup a little pricey, it's just what I need. There's no mess that can reach the pillow with this cover on. It even makes it easier to change fabric covers, since the vinyl is so slick. And though at first I thought the vinyl might be a little too thick and "crinkly," it's not like that at all once it's on the pillow under the fabric cover. You don't even know it's there. I purchased a new My Brest Friend to use under this vinyl cover, but if you're on a budget and considering a used pillow, I think you could buy this cover and feel good about a clean surface for a new baby.I feel a little silly writing so much about this, but I think nursing pillows are a big deal for new moms. There are a lot of options out there, but most of them have big design flaws. This cover, along with the My Brest Friend, is perfect. I think it's crazy to sell the My Brest Friend pillow as it is -- a wipeable and/or cleanable surface should be standard-issue for a forty-dollar pillow. Until that changes, this cover gets the job done very well. 5Saves your pillow I used my breast friend pillow through 2 kids and loved it but would freak out if they spit up/peed/pooped/things newborns do! This time I was determined to get a waterproof cover. This one however is more suited to a hospital environment and not cozy at all. I wish they made a waterproof liner but I just got my seam ripper and gently removed the pouch and buckles. After I did that it fit nicely inside my normal covers. Kinda pricey for something that needs to be fixed after but worth the peace of mind! 4Must buy if you use a My Brest Friend I was very hesitant to buy this cover because $25 seems expensive for the material but it was worth it. As other reviews have mentioned, My Brest Friend pillow is a piece of crap foam that will soak up any kind of spills and is not washable.My Brest Friend is definitely superior on the design aspect to the boppy pillow but the material is cheap cheap cheap and it really irritated me that they'd make and sell such a product with a thin cloth cover rather than a water proof one to begin with.At first when I received this cover, I was annoyed at the fact that the waterproof cover was on the outside as well with the clips so you can't easily fit the cloth cover over it. It looked like a flotation device for the swimming pool rather than a pillow to support breast feeding. I didn't want the baby's face to lay on the waterproof cover but it has actually worked out much better as I generally use a cloth under the baby's head anyway and if there are spills, I can easily wipe the cover with damp paper towel without having to take the whole thing off to throw it in the wash. Would recommend for anyone who is using a My Brest Friend. 5Fits nicely under the deluxe plush cover I highly recommend that anyone purchasing this pillow also get the waterproof cover. I'm on my second pillow since the first one was destroyed when my baby pooped through the cotton cover onto the foam pillow. This cover fits nicely underneath the deluxe pillow cover as long as you hang the deluxe plush cover to dry (it shrinks in the dryer, I also made that mistake with my first pillow). I plan on leaving this on under the regular cover at all times and only washing the outer plush deluxe cover when needed. 5Seems perfect to me. Just to address other reviews:Yeah, it had a smell, but it doesn t anymore. I haven t even washed it yet. I ve just had it in the open air for a couple of weeks.Yeah, it might not fit perfectly under a fabric cover without alterations, but it wasn t made to.Yeah, they could have used a material that s waterproof on the inside and soft on the outside, like the PUL cloth diaper covers are made of but they would have to charge a lot more than $20 to have decent margins on it, then. At least this version is affordable.Yeah, the My Breast Friend pillow should come standard with a waterproof cover, but I don t think it s entirely unwashable as is. I think I could hand wash it and air dry it if I needed to, but in 4+ years of owning it, spraying it with hydrogen peroxide and wiping it with a damp cloth has been sufficient. No stains or smells.I only got this cover because I got so tired of laundering a plush cover only to have the other boob leak on it or baby dribble on it the very first nursing session after putting the fresh cover on. I had to have 3 just to always have a clean one. This way, I can just wipe it clean.I will probably use the plush covers over this one now that I ve seen other do it, but I ll also probably just use this cover and put a receiving blanket between baby and the cover a lot of the time, too.Not sure why there are so many angry comments about not putting baby s face directly on the plastic as if that s the only option. I honestly used a blanket or prefold/burp cloth over the plush covers as well, because of the aforementioned leaks, so it s not a big deal to me. 5Waterproof plastic cover needs improvement I bought this waterproof cover in case of blowout or spill as every mom expects. I am very disappointed, however, by the concept of this product.1. I wanted to use a waterproof cover INSIDE of the current cover, but realized that this one is made to be used as outer most cover (it has a buckle and a pocket). However, it feels like 100% plastic (which manufacturer regards hygienic) that I don t want my baby to sit on.2. I tried to put the original cover on top of it instead. The cover fitted a bit tightly but I was able to squeeze in. The problem is because of this snug waterproof cover inside, I have wrinkles on top of the baby seat with an extra cover on. I feel this would make the baby not comfy either.3. The cover came with a bad smell, but this might go away after wash so I don t worry much.Overall, I wish the manufacturer makes a waterproof cover that can be used as inner protection. It s a shame that they haven t made it yet despite the popularity of the nursing pillow itself. 2Waste of $$$$$ First of all I got this thing to go UNDER my breast friend cover. Why would anyone use this plastic directly with their baby but whoever designed it didn t make it to go under a cover it has the dumb pocket and clips. And if you were to use this directly with your baby you would be crazy because it has a TERRIBLE plastic smell and I ve aired it out for a few days but it is still present. Just zipped it under my pillow and it makes it more bulky. Most likely going to return this but bummed because they really need a protective solution. I should have kept the original plastic wrapping although not perfect one mom suggested that and it s better than this smelly mess. 1
