Customer Reviews

Genuine crystal, but not cut. You get what you pay for. I wasn't happy with the way these looked when they arrived and thought maybe I had received a knock-off, but I did some research and they are genuine Waterford crystal. So then I wanted to know what is crystal and why don't these look quite right? So... Crystal, by industry definition, is glass with a small percentage of lead. But most crystal pieces are molded and then "cut" - the rounded edges are filed to be much sharper. These glasses are not cut. The edges remain round and even the seams are still visible. So it is genuine crystal, but you get what you pay for. I went to the Waterford website and they were selling the Marquis decanter and two glasses for $100. Other decanters, that were obviously molded AND cut, started at $300 and rose quickly. Same with the glasses. So with all that being said, they do look nice. I bought these as a present for my boyfriend and he LOVES them (he's not as picky as I am). 3Good lookin' glass, but it does have a seam I'm not an authority on these sorts of things. I am happy with my purchase but I did have some slight issues. The Pros:-They're quite nice. They seem like a good standard scotch or double rocks glass.-They have a good weight to them. The Cons-For a "Crystalline" product, they do have a very slight seam (see one of the photos). It is quite faint and luckily it's not something that sticks out like a sore thumb. Most people don't care, but if you're the type who are finicky about their glassware, maybe this one isn't for you.I ordered two sets of 4, one of the four glasses arrived broken. Luckily Amazon was happy to replace the broken one.As I'm writing this, these glasses were 60% off. Had I paid full price, I would say I didn't get my moneys' worth, but at the price I paid I'd say I got a good bargain. It's nothing I would buy as a wedding gift for a close family member, but definitely something I'd have at home for when company comes over. They're not dishwasher safe (but good glassware isn't meant to go in the dishwasher). And it's nice enough that company would be impressed but not so nice that I'd be upset if one broke.Definitely a step up from standard glassware. 4I do recommend these glasses So some people are dogging these glasses because they have a seam and they are not hand-cut crystal, but I do think these are great glasses. They are thick and heavy and have the classic pattern work. Keep in mind that these are only $7.50/each. For that money you get no name glasses that could be very poor quality. This is the low-cost line of waterford but they look great and feel good and are much better than some of the others I tried to buy. I'll stick with these for regular use. Great value. 5I resisted because theses glasses are so freaking beautiful and it would have been a shame Well I can t write a full review because I never got to use these cups. I bought them as a gift for my (now ex) boyfriend and he dumped me before I was able to use them. Although I wanted to smash each one on his face, I resisted because theses glasses are so freaking beautiful and it would have been a shame. So 5 stars for that. Although now that I think of it these cups are probably so strong they would have survived a hard throw...so maybe I should have went for it? Oh well. 5Low quality glasses (I don't think they're made out of crystal) Like a reviewer before me noticed, this is a different quality than you would expect from crystal glasses (and different from what she ordered 20 years from the same manufacturer).I am pretty sure it's glass and not crystal. It sounds exactly like glass. The manufacturing is faulty, there are 3 seams on each glass and plenty of imperfections. They are not worth the price and in no way the 100$ original asking. My pictures show blemishes (these do not go off when washing). They are average or sub-par compared to similar glasses. 3the glasses are fine, however the glasses are fine, however, it required 4 shipments to get a set that did not have any broken glasses, I returned one set, received another set that had broken glasses and was told to not return those and then I was subsequently charged for them as they claimed I did return the broken items. I received another set that contained 2 broken glasses, and was also told not to return thosetherefore I was pleased with the glasses, but very displeased with the multiple shipments required to get a set of 8 unbroken glassesand then, was charged for glasses that were broken, but told NOT to return themSo, overall, I am very displeased 1Marquis by Waterford, or dollar store junk? The name Waterford traditionally implies quality and distinctive character in glassware. Imagine my shock and disappointment when I opened the package and examined these glasses. The Marquis by Waterford Markham glasses are totally unremarkable. The "cut" finish is molded, not cut. The mold seams are not only visible, but can easily be felt while holding the glass. This would be expected in glasses picked up off the shelf at Wal-Mart for 2 bucks each, but certainly does not reflect the reputation that Waterford has earned over the decades. For the price, a grave disappointment. I'll be returning these glasses, and will never trust the Waterford brand in the future. 1Stunning. Just what I was looking for just be aware they are not cut crystal. These actually stayed in my shopping list for a couple of weeks because after reading some of the reviews I was more than a little nervous. But finally I clicked the button. I'm really pleased with these glasses. They are the perfect weight, they are beautiful and no funny taste when you drink out of them.I thought I'd address some of the issues mentioned by other reviews.First, because they come from Waterford I think people think they are ordering cut crystal. These are not cut crystal. These are crystalline (glass) that is molded. Cut crystal starts at $75 a glass. At the inflated list price these are $25. At the sale price of $32 these are $8 each. In a high end department store I suspect they'd run about $15 a glass. I've never seen these actually sold at 'list price' so I would discount that. Would I pay $25 a glass for them? Maybe if they were reserved for special occasions. As for packing, mine arrived no problem and seemed to be packed very well. For the sticker's I just used a drop of doTERRA lemon oil and the sticky residue came off no problem. These are much nicer than glasses you are going to get at the grocery or box store, yet affordable enough that when one breaks it isn't horrible. My only negative was my own fault. Be aware these are 13 oz so be careful they are large enough for you. I probably would have selected another pattern in the 15-16 oz size. 5Great item for Bourbon and keeping a grip and look very nice! Nice bourbon glasses with a little grip! I like the fact that they are lead free (unlike my other crystal glasses) but look very nice and feel great. They work well with a large bourbon ice ball in them as well. 5very nice for scotch or bourbon I like what I like and I like these glasses - drinking scotch or bourbon in these glasses is a pleasure - looks nice - more importantly, easy to hold - since I live by myself, 4 are probably more than I actually need but it allows me to switch out between drinks for a fresh glass - highly recommended - of course the snobs may not be impressed - everyone has a different taste in barware - this is my choice of a go to glass 5
