    because this comforter set is much better than I expected I don't often write reviews because most things arrive and are as described. I'm making an exception in this case however, because this comforter set is much better than I expected, especially for the price. It's well made and very soft, and is light enough for summer. The best part though, is that it fits my California King bed. I can't tell you how many comforter sets I've bought that profess to fit a CalKing, but don't. In the past, I've had to resort to pulling a too-small comforter to one side, so that the side you see when you walk in the room looks okay, but leaving 3 inches of comforter on the side you don't see. This comforter fits perfectly! 5Lots of issues, but still like the design -Edit: Have ordered item again with more problems, resulting in lowering my rating to 1 star. Please see the details towards the bottom-Felt nice, looks good, good design. Unfortunately, I have to rate this low for several reasons:1. The red dye appears to have bled onto the beige (arrived this way, did not wash). See photos.2. There were several patches on the comforter that I can only describe as feeling as though the fibers were melted. These patches were visible and felt very rough and scratchy (again, I didn't wash/dry this). See photos3. It was surprisingly short for the claim of being a Queen size comforter. I'd expect any size comforter, when placed on the appropriate mattress, to be able to cover the entire mattress. This did not, and the mattress was clearly visible. My old comforter, which is also a Queen size (I've even checked its label), is roughly 2-3 inches longer on both sides and around 3 inches longer in length and covers the entirety of my mattress. See photos (black one is my old Queen comforter). And before you point out "You're not supposed to spread the comforter across the entire mattress, yes, I know. The point was that there is a clear and obvious size difference between my current Queen comforter and this one. I didn't plan out the comparison photos until after I already sent the item back or I'd have laid them out identical.The first two of these, I can attribute to just poor shipping conditions. Perhaps weather and summer heat is what resulted in the ink bleeding and the scratchy patches. However, the size issue is clearly an issue with the item itself, and as such I cannot recommend it as I'd expect a comforter that costs this much to cover the size of the mattress it is supposed to be paired with.-NEW-So I've decided to re-order this item in hopes that I just had bad luck with the previous one. I mean, I still really like the look and most of the reviews are great, so I felt like maybe I just got a bad egg. Well, either I just have the worst luck ever, or the good reviews have the best luck ever, cause I got another bad product. This time, the comforter was basically falling apart at the seams. Nearly every seam had loose threads where the stitching was coming undone even before I removed it from the box (see photos). I'll be avoiding Madison Park products in the future. 1Definitely greyMy husband and I both thought this looked cream colored with the plum, but it is definitely grey. At first we were disappointed, but now that we bought grey sheets to match we love it.5Soft and comfy, not as elegant as it showsWhen we purchased this product we expected it to be a little bit nicer quality, not so much just a blanket feel but we are still really happy with how comfortable it is! Not as elegant as the photo makes it seem but still good quality!4didn't care for itThe quality seemed fine on this set, I just didn't care for it when I saw it in person. The comforter is like a soft chambray type material, which I didn't really care for. Also, it looked a bit too masculine for my taste. The colors were fairy close to what they appeared on my computer monitor, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will be for you if your settings are different than mine.2Definitely recommend Love this set! Super soft. The three decorative pillows were perfect, very cute and not smashed in the package. Very well made product, you won't be disappointed! 5Better than expected so far Oddly better than expected.Light and warm. I had a million to pick from my a Christmas gift and this was a hit. Normally when guys pick this sort of thing out it had better be Prime and you had better keep the box. In this case not only did it go on the bed it has stayed there and it looks great. Not sure if it will last, but not much does under the dog but for the price who cares?We have noticed that it is light but quite warm and it breathes. I cleverly bought a king for a queen bed... 5High priced, less high quality I wanted to be able to rate this higher but expected better for the price. The box was received with multiple large holes and gashes punched in it. This likely the shippers fault and not the sellers. It is very soft and the colors are nice.....burgundy, brown, and light tan. However, the stitching is horrible. There are these weird random stitchings in the burgundy section done with WHITE thread. They arent even straight. The stitching in the tan portion used tan stitching so I'm guessing they ran out of burgundy thread. Have no reasonable explanation why they aren't at least stitched straight. It cheapens the look. The pillows were a nice touch. It's a good weight....not too light, not too heavy. This item is overpriced for the quality although it does look nice on a bed. 3It came in plum and grey, not plum and a cream color. Still very beautiful! I love this set. The comforter is nice and thick, the pillows match... it's beautiful. The only issue I have is I thought the colors were plum and an off-white/cream - because that's what I saw in the picture. When I got it, it was plum and grey. Now it turns out my black lab and grey are a MUCH better match than my black lab and cream would have been! I absolutely love the grey - and probably would have ordered it if I had thought it was an option, so it ended up being a win win for me... just beware it may come in plum and grey.... 4A Big Yowza!!! This is the second Madison Park Palmer 7 Piece Comforter Set I bought. It's that fabulous! I don't know what the magic is, but this comforter manages to keep you cool when it's warm and warm when it's cold. Everything in the set is really well-made and really good-looking. And what you get for the price is unbeatable. Currently looking for a third bed just to give me an excuse to buy another set. 5Poor WorkmanshipMy recommendation is to not purchase this item. Reason is, poor workmanship. The stitching is very poor. The seams are not aligned. Loose threads are coming out of the seams everywhere. The seams are not correctly gathered together, but instead are randomly stitched together. The product was made in China, and it appears whoever sewed the material together had no training or experience, or maybe didn't care. Your money would be better spent elsewhere.Unfortunately, this was a gift, and by the time the receiver opened the package, it was beyond the Amazon "return window."1Not Happy with our comforterI received the comforter yesterday before I had to go to work. When I got home I went to put it on our bed only to find out that there were holes/rips in it. I am not happy about that at all. Now it will cost me extra I am sure to get it replaced. My comforter bunched up after the first wash, and it looks horrible now. Company wouldn't exchange or refund me. Spent a lot of money and can't even use it now.1from the other side of the room the beige fabric looks like a sheet Returned this the day I opened the package and put it on the bed. While the quality is okay, from the other side of the room the beige fabric looks like a sheet, and the wide brown stripe looks like a brown bed runner. It just didn't look as classy as it looks in this photo. Wasn't happy about having to spend $37 to return it, but I really didn't like the way it looked and certainly didn't want to look at it for years to come. BTW the weight of the bedspread seemed about medium. Maybe in a smaller bedroom it would work better. 2Ripped apart first wash. Disappointed. Shipping took a long time, but it looked nice once it arrived. However, I followed the washing instructions for the comforter and it ripped at the seams. Very disappointed as it even says you can wash the comforter. 1A little too small... I would have given another star if I would have ordered the California King instead of King. With a deep mattress you need the extra width or length to make it work. For the money it's lovely. 4Nice for the priceNice for the price. Warm for use in winter. Not sure how it will be now that it's warmer outside. Love the color and have gotten many compliments on the look.4
