8 QT. DEEP CAMP DUTCH OVEN. The Lodge portable "camp stove" is the pot that does it all. The flanged lid holds hot coals and inverts for use as a griddle. The integral legs allow the oven to sit perfectly over the campfire.
PRE-SEASONED COOKWARE. A good seasoning makes all the difference. Lodge provides pre-seasoned cookware with no synthetic chemicals; just soy based vegetable oil. The more you use your iron, the better the seasoning becomes.

Arrived cracked I just got my dutch oven today, but its cracked! I'm so bummed. I have to send this back. 1Well worth the cost for a lifetime of great food Where can I start -- this thing can do it ALL. I wanted a cast iron dutch oven for a long time, but always balked at the price. With the mass versatility of this the money is well justified though.Early on I used this largely for deep frying. One of my favorite recipes is deep fried buffalo sauced cheeseburgers. Make two thin burger patties and sandwich them together with cheese in between. Grill them until mostly cooked then coat in beer batter. Deep fry, coat in buffalo sauce and enjoy! While the burgers are on the grill you can fry up some onion rings for an added bonus.I've also used this for roasts, spaghetti sauces, desserts, and more. Whether camping, home on the grill, or in the oven, this is the best dutch oven you can buy, hands down. 5Quite Flawed I own a lot of Lodge cast iron and usually love it but this dutch oven came with quite a few factory flaws both inside and out. It will take hours of sanding to get rid of the really bad flaws on the bottom of the inside. So now I realize why I got it at such a bargain price. 3Camping model not received Ordered this for camping, got the one with no legs or handle and convex lid--Can't use for camping. Trying to return, site errors and says try again later. The Lodge brand has a specific history of creating high quality products and nothing less comes from this particular dutch oven. 5This dutch oven may crack with first use I like the size and decided to buy one after seeing allot of YouTube videos I decided to make pineapple upside down cake upon waiting for it to bake I heard a weard piping coming from the pot after the cake is done I let it cool and went to wash it and noticed it is cracked from top to bottom and the return cost is nine times what I paid for the oven in my experience I don't recommend buying this dutch oven. 1Good for a large crew I had a smaller dutch oven from when I was single and didn't need to cook a ton of food. Now that I am a dad with 5 mouths to feed, I needed to upgrade to something bigger. This is perfect. The deep version is great for large dinner type meals (stews, meats etc.), leaving the little one as a "bread" oven for desserts and breads. It came preseasoned which was nice since my old one didn't. Not hard to do, but I appreciate not having to do one more thing if I don't want to. Sturdy and as solid as my 25 year old one. 5Thick cast iron My 12-inch deep Lodge Dutch oven was delivered last night. Right out of the box I can already see that the oven has a thicker cast iron for the pot and the lid compared to my 14-inch deep Camp Chef oven and my Texsport 10 inch oven. The preseasoning is scratched at places but that s okay because I will season it a couple of times before I put food in it anyway. The lid fits slightly better than my other two Dutch ovens and given its weight it makes a satisfying sound when covering the pot. Given its thickness I would expect this oven to excel at radiating heat once it s heated up to temp. I will update my review once I cook a few dishes on it. 5Was disheartened and disappointed to see that my package had arrived I couldn't wait to receive my Lodge Cast Iron Dutch oven.. Was searching for recipes to try as soon as I receive it. Was disheartened and disappointed to see that my package had arrived, but the box was visibly damaged to the point where you could see the entire product inside. I was reluctant to open it but was hoping to find the Dutch Oven undamaged. Wishful thinking I guess.. after cutting the 2 pieces of tape that sealed the end of the box I noticed there was no protective packaging or bubble wrap or foam of any kind. The product was in it's original box from the manufacturer. This is cast iron folks! If dropped it can crack!! There was no box inside a box with protective packaging! After taking the Dutch Oven out of the damaged box I immediately saw that 1 of the 3 legs were broken. Very disappointed!!! 1I expect better from Lodge My 14 inch deep DO just arrived a few moments ago. Unfortunately, it looks like I got one of the seconds - this thing is in rough, rough shape. The seasoning is flaking off all over the lid, and is completely missing in some parts. I can rub my finger on the scuffs that are all over the pot and come away with black residue all over my hand. The bail is so badly bent that it won't fold down over the lid, which is entertaining given the fact that the lid has about 1/4 inch of play all the way around. I bought this because I'm attending a big group camp/cookout, and even considered just living with the poor quality so I would have something to use, but I shelled out more than a Benjamin Franklin, so I expect much better than this. I will be starting the return process later today, and hopefully finding a local retailer where I can see what I'm getting. I like your products quite a bit Lodge, but this is very disappointing. 1
