I compared it with all other similar shelves on Amazon before deciding to buy it. The reviews were very true to the product I received. There is a smell when you open the box, that lingers for a day. Solid wood and painted. Also I love that it was already set up, and made in the US. what else? 5Solid and pretty bookcase I am very happy with the size and style of this bookcase. I like that it is made of solid wood and was built in the USA. It was packaged well and shipped without any damage ( which I had NOT experienced with a prior purchase and return from another Amazon supplier ). My only concern with this purchase was the strong smell of paint that reeked from the bookcase. We moved it out to the garage for a few days to air out and then it was fine. 5Worth It If you want a well built, real wood, solidly beautiful bookcase that you do not have to put together yourself than this is for you. I love it in my daughters bedroom and the white matches her existing little girl white furniture. Worth every penny! 5Lovely bookcase, but purchase in advance to let the paint fumes air out This is a beautiful little bookcase, perfect for a very young child! It's well-made and sturdy, and the little finishes on it are lovely. Mine arrived in perfect condition, both wood and paint. My only issues are that the back seems to be some kind of cheap manufactured something (can't quite tell, but it's reminiscent of a sturdier kind of cardboard) and the fact that the paint fumes are pretty strong. I realize that the piece must be made shortly before being wrapped in plastic and shipped out (mine stated it was manufactured this month, which began only a couple of weeks ago), so I'm hoping it gets better very quickly. My baby is arriving within the next few weeks, and I don't want to have to wait until after she gets here before setting this up in the nursery. It just arrived yesterday, and I've only been able to put it out in the sun for about half a day, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that within the next few days it'll be ready to go. So glad I chose this one !!!!There is a chemical smell but the packing slip did inform me. Once it disperses I'll be very happy. 5Damaged goods : ( Ordered the solid white to discover that it is not solid at all, but MDF, which was obvious when I opened the box to find one front corner crushed and another cracked. The box wasn't damaged, so I know it shipped out that way indicating some quality control issues. I'm bummed because it otherwise looks really cute and other people seem to really like theirs. 1Great quality wood bookcase! I purchased this bookcase in solid white (as opposed to white MDF) for my daughter's room. It appears to be made mostly from wood, as opposed to composite material, and is very sturdy. It came fully assembled and I like that there are no visible fasteners, hardware or raised buttons to cover fasteners as the hardware is hidden and integrated into the design. It has a nice painted finish, not laminate, which seems very durable and not easily chipped. The stationary shelves are tall enough and deep enough to accommodate her books, even larger ones, without having them hang over the edge. The compact size is good for a child's room without taking up too much floor space or being too tall for a small child to reach all the shelves. The quality of this bookcase greatly exceeded my expectations! The only complaint I have is with the fact that it was offered as an Amazon Prime item, but I did not receive it until one week after the date of purchase, even though I am a Prime member! Since then, after receiving my complaints, Amazon did add that it 'may require an extra 1 - 2 days to process.' 5Great for a small room I would give this 5 stars but to drill in the wall anchors, you must drill right at the very top of the backside or you just end up going through the plywood. And you can see the wall anchor sticking out at the top of the bookcase. Not too big of a deal but worth stating. Great bookcase for a small bedroom. 4
