Customer Reviews

Great for amigurumi I love this yarn. I use it for amigurumi crochet all the time. It's my favorite to use for dolls because of the stiffness, and I find it easy to work with. The soft ecru color is my favorite yarn for light skin tone and the big spools are awesome and go a long way! 5Inconsistent color between dye lots I bought one cone of black yarn, but needed more to finish the project, so I bought a second cone. The cone that arrived was this faded color between medium gray and indigo. The photo is unaltered, and it's not a trick of the light. That is the actual difference in shade between the first cone and the second. While I understand that different dye lots will result in slight variation in color, I would expect to get approximately the same color. As in, buying a "black" yarn means that I would get yarn that isn't faded gray in color, but can actually be described as black.I am giving the yarn three stars and not less, because the first cone was great quality, and the other colors I got were great too. I was able to get enough of this same yarn in smaller skeins at a local craft store, so I will be able to finish my project. Not sure if I'll ever risk an online purchase again though. 3They're great! Can't recommend them enough! I can't remember how many of these large cones I've bought and will continue buying of this particular Potpourri and/or Ecru colors. I've made a few blankets and love the pattern of the Potpourri yarn which is very subtle and beautiful, and well ecru is ecru. It does make a wonderful baby's blanket because of the subtle blue, pink, and lavender specks that are subtly there; good for girl or boy. The first time I finished a project with it I was surprised at how soft it was and what a great drape it has. I love the 100% cotton especially for babies. You get a lot of great yarn for the price. I pick up another one anytime I'm down to one left; in other words never without. I have not found any major difference in the color dye lots and I have had to use various lots without being able to tell where one started and another one ended. I have nothing but good things to say about this yarn. Don't know if it matters, but I've only used the large cones vs the smaller skeins; couldn't tell you if there is a difference. 5Knots, knots and more knots The reason one buys a cone of yarn is to avoid having all those pesky wasteful ends to work in when making projects, whether knitting, crocheting or weaving. This cone of Sugar and Cream has had tied off knots [done at the mill, I assume] almost every 25 to 40 yards! I've been winding a warp for weaving, using some individual colored balls of Sugar and Cream along with this off white cone of Sugar and Cream. I haven't come across any knots in the balls, but have had 5!! knots in approximately the same amount of coned yarn. This is frustrating and annoying, to put it mildly. The general quality of the yarn, making allowances for the inexpensive utility nature of this kitchen cotton yarn, is good. In the future, I'll just stick with individual balls of Sugar 'n Cream since the quality control seems better. 3One Cone Is All I Need I bought a cone, to make a dishtowel. I love that I will not have to join a new ball of yarn, unless I come across knots, which I have not seen, so far. The yarn is surprisingly soft, though I don't think I would use it for a babu blanket. But to knit towels & other items, I think it's great. 4Makes a Nice Finished Product! I love this yarn for looming dish rags. I got this in the Potpourri. The color is nice and neutral, so if I'm making them for gifts, I don't need to be concerned that it will clash with someone's decor. It handles well and is nicely suited to looming.Once the finished product is ready, this yarn feels so good in your hands when you're washing dishes. No commercially made dish rag could compare. I've found that most of the dish rags I've made with this brand will last a minimum of a year. This was, of course, in the early stages of learning to make them. Now, with a bit more practice, I do have many that have lasted for more than two years, so far. So, this yarn is good and durable and will make a quality product. The other thing I like is that it comes in the 14 oz. cone. This offers an ample supply to keep up with the production level I enjoy. I will definitely be buying more of these! 5Love, Love, Love I love this yarn! It is beautiful fall colors, and it is easy to work with. I bought it to make my daughter some of the "magic" pot holders, and also made her an owl, she is addicted to owls. You will not be disappointed with this yarn. 5This cone was a huge disappointment, with so many knots This cone was a huge disappointment, with so many knots, snags, and. splinters of yarn...I finally had to give up trying to knit from it. The deformities were coming up every few feet. I have used your yarn for years. I have made hundreds of dishcloths for family and friends, but I would not want to give something with this yarn to anyone. I really can't imagine what to do with it. The problems are clearly visible. It certainly got past any quality control. 1Love this yarn This yarn is the nicest color of Ecru ever--almost the palest peach you could ever imagine, but not peach. It is lovely. I just started making washcloths with the yarn Easy to work...soft too. 5Great for Washcloths I use this primarily for crocheting washcloths and it works very well. The yarn can be a bit stiff to work with until you get used to it since it does not stretch at all, but it does not split which is great. The colors are lovely and I really like the variety of options. The cone holds enough for about four or five nine-inch-square washcloths which is a great value, and it's nice not to have any waste or have to join yarn midway through a project. This is not particularly soft, so I use it for washcloths and mesh bags instead of wearables, but it's great for those projects that need durability over softness. I also use it in the garden to tie up tomato plants and it woks great there as well and lasts the whole season. The yarn is durable and wears well and washes and dries nicely in the washing machine.Overall, this is a great, easy to work with, and durable yarn and I definitely recommend it. 5
