and nice material. I would have kept the hat were ...I returned this item.PROS:Wide brim, and nice material. I would have kept the hat were it not for the cons.CONS:1. The hat is too "deep". It is for a large head. It came down over my ears and too far down my forehead. I usually wear 7 1/8 hats and this was HUGE. For comparison purposes I placed the hat next to some other Outdoor Research and FCS Surf Wet Bucket Surf/Water Hat.2. The plastic piece that is supposed to cinch the drawstring cord on the back of the head does not pinch the cord at all. It's totally loose, so the hatcould not be tightened against my head, and since it's one size fits all, the hat is unwearable. 1So comfortable!This had is the perfect hiking companion! I used to wear a plain old ball cap or trucker hat, whichever we had laying about from various events and giveaways. But, while I do have other brimmed hats, I didn't want to muck them up hiking, (dirty and sweaty, multiple washings), because they weren't cheap.This is a great price, and a great quality wide brimmed hat. I can understand completely why it's an Amazon Best Seller.The all around mesh ventilation is amazing, none of my other hat have that, and I was really surprised at how comfortable that one detail kept my head temperature.I don't often go out in the rain, but the fact that this is waterproof? And can be buttoned up on the sides to send the water backwards vs into my face? Fantastic.This hat is a hit for me. Sun protection for my neck, ears and face. Quality versatility. Great pricing. It is indeed rainproof, and Id give it 5 stars, but i was in driving rain this weekend, and where the hat separates around crown for venting, it allows rain to leak in a bit. Overall love it. 5Great hat for Extreme heat.I bought this for my trip to death valley and I was impressed on how well it worked in the extreme heat(Just Remeber lighter colors are better for this). My head and face was well protected and the brim managed to keep its shape. Even with the surprise shower, It kept my head dry and cool. Though I am a person with a large head (7 1/2+) The hat's fit was snug, so before the trip I wore it around my house until it stretched out enough that it was comfortable. 5Perfect for rain!Had a problem getting this hat where I was ...but when I got it...... great. I like it unsnapped better... 5Neck coveredWhen I use a ball cap the back of my neck is still exposed to the sun. I like this hat because I get the coverage on my neck, even after my ponytail is pulled through. I also like the snaps on the brim so I can fasten it up on the sides on less sunny days. Easy to roll up for packing. Well made. Like the variety of colors. 5I'm quite pleased with this hatI'm quite pleased with this hat. Very lightweight, the snaps to keep the brim up on the sides work well and hold well. The size adjustment is nice, and the headband is the best I've found in this style hat. Also, the venting in the top works very well, yet in cooler temps doesn't allow your head to get too cool. This is the only boogie-style hat I've had that lets me fold it up the way it was when I got it and then take and hold its shape when I'm wearing it. I've worn boonie hats for years, all over the world in the military and afterward as an aircraft mechanic and this one is the best I've found so far. 5Well engineered.This is an extremely well engineered hat for the price. I have, and have had, many "safari" and "fishing" and "boonie" hats over the years. Different names but pretty much the same thing. I have actually worn some of these hats to the point that they disintegrated in the wash machine. Widest brim of any I have had. Chin string, but has an elastic adjust that would fit most heads just as snug or not as you like - so it isn't about to blow away. I had no problem setting it exactly the way I wanted. Ventilated. Snaps to keep the sides up. Comes squashed in a bag, so it might take a little to get the wrinkles out of it and bend into a proper shape. The only thing I wasn't really 100% with was the logo. If you blow up the picture and look real close you will see it has a logo on the front. It is really slightly more apparent than you see in the picture. 5Protection from the Texas sunI m not a hunter or fisher. I am, however, a photographer in Houston, Texas. When it s not flooding, the sun is pretty fierce here.This hat is good sun protection and it s water resistant should it start to rain. It s lightweight, vented, and crushable - you can wad it up and shove it into a backpack or jacket pocket. It has a mesh lining to aid ventilation. The brim can be worn down, or it has snaps on either side to hold it up. I opted for one side up for that Crocodile Dundee look. 5
