Customer Reviews

Effing garbage Steel plating peeling on arrival. 1Easy to use, but the holes are a little bigThis thing is easy (and fun!) to use, seriously when I first got it everyone in the house had to try it.We use garlic in just about every meal, so having this tool has made the prep process much easier. A quick rocking motion and you have smallish chunks of garlic. I then go back and chop it finer with a knife.I do really wish the holes are smaller. Like half the size that they are now. It does save time still, but I would have given a 5 star review for smaller holes.I didn't have any of the peeling or rusting issues that others have mentioned, mine seems to be pretty solid. And since its stainless steel, a quick rinse cleans it off very easily.4I had high hopes, and I do like it, but there are a couple of shortcomings. I like it a lot better than a press, and better than my old garlic cutter, but there are a couple of issues, or at least things I'd change. First is the size of the cutting area. The entire device is a bit smaller than I expected. I kept having to scrape partially minced garlic back onto the cutting area and then pushing down again. This really increased the time needed to crush a whole bulb. The second problem is that the steel in the cutting area is some combination of too thick and/or not sharp enough. So it took more force than I expected to crush the garlic, compounding the problem with the cloves getting squished off to the side. I definitely like it better than my other garlic crushing devices, and it's easier to clean-- a lot easier, so it's the segment leader, in my opinion, but there is still room for improvement, hence the thtee stars. 3Garlic pressI love thos garlic press. The metal is sturdy and does not bend. The press is easy to clean. I was sceptical at first about the claim that when rubbed on the skin that it would remove garlic odor but really does work. I've even used it to remove onion odor from my skin.5Excellent in dicing garlicI use garlic all the time. I have had some pretty nice garlic presses and each one has crushed my garlic cloves, causing too much garlic flavor in my dish. This one is perfect. It makes little garlic dices. Garlic does get stuck in the holes, but I run it under the tap to help clean it out. Sometimes it takes pushing it out with a knife or other small object. Then, into the dishwasher it goes.5Another gadget that really isn't worth it.This thing takes more time to clean than use. Better to just smash your garlic with a wide knife, and mince it yourself, like all trained chefs do. Definitely not worth it.1It takes a lot of force to useIt takes a lot of force to use, you don't push down on it but rock it side to side. But it could be sharper to cut it easier. One review said her 4 year old could do it. Not with mine, it's rather dull. If it were sharper I would be raving about it. Cleaning it sometimes doesn't completely unclog it quickly, I have to poke something in some of the holes to clear out the garlic. But that would worth it if it cut easier. It's not bad but could be better.3Cool tool, it works, I really like it Love it! I've been looking for something, well, better. We eat a ton of garlic, a clump a week. We LOVE garlic, needless to say. I was looking for a different kind of press, crusher, something. Easier to use was a big aspect, easier to clean was an even bigger part. Plus, it had to look better than the ''ol same 'ol'. After checking out everyone' else's thoughts on the matter: America's Test Kitchen, pro chefs, avid home cooks, I found this rocker. It's pretty darn amazing. I don't buy kitchen items without a lot of reading, watching and investigating. No point being in my very busy kitchen unless it can earn its keep. After all that, I decided I'd do it.I really like this. I will say though it might not be for everyone. I can say, 'even a kid can use it', check out YouTube. I know it works as intended. It does NOT mince, it crushes. So, the pieces aren't small. But, I have yet to see a problem with that. Plus, as someone mentioned, you just scrape out and re-crush. Not perfect, but it does the job in that regard.Getting all the bits out of the holes, not hard at all. Not even as much as a mincer. I just use a toothpick, and I actually get all the bits out into my dish, etc.... None left to wash down the sink. And no garlic skin to scrape out of the hopper, was SO tired of that! Plus, having to use the 'special tool' to get bits out of the holes, that comes with most mincers, was ok, but I didn't enjoy it.Cleaning after my toothpick trick is VERY easy. Use a brush, and it's a breeze. It also crushes onion. I found this out as I've been getting over bronchitis and my remedy of crushed garlic, onion and raw honey has been to my rescue. This worked like a breeze. I will mention, this will squirt onion juice out, got in my eye, more funny than a problem. But not even one if you never use it for onion, not much of one if you do.It looks awesome. Love the design.I kept my old mincer, just in case. Not touched it since. :) 5Garlic Stuck in the HolesI wanted to like this tool; I was really hoping that it would crush garlic without getting most of it stuck in the holes, but that was not the case. It's much larger than I expected, and the shape makes it hard to store. It's very easy for garlic to squirt out from under it and end up all over the place.I wouldn't buy again, and I won't be using this tool again.1Best Garlic Press Tool EverThis is probably the best garlic press tool there is out there. I have used mine now for over a year and liked it so much I bought another one for a friend. I used a Steel Spatula to smash garlic out of their husks and then in no time at all have pressed garlic in like 5 minutes. Tool is very easy to clean. I use hot water and for the few times that a piece of garlic gets stuck in the holes of the garlic press I use the point of a knife or a brush to force it out. Great tool. I have tried all the others - one that can slice garlic as well as press it. I may as well throw those out as I will only use the Garlic Rocker Press. Highly recommended.5It's surprisingly beautiful, howeverI've never found a garlic press that's worth the energy it takes to wash it. This one is easier to wash and use than most, but because the holes are large it makes giant garlic "plugs" instead of crushing it. I find if you run the plugs through a second time, you'll get acceptible results. It's surprisingly beautiful, however, and pleasing to hold.3Best Garlic Press I Ever UsedIt is easy to use, and the only garlic press I ever had that is easy to clean. Love it. Only gave it a 4 because the minced garlic comes out slightly larger than optimum, but all it's other advantages make it worth using anyway. I plan to buy 2 more for my best friend and sister. I think this is special enough that I want them to each have one.4This Press Works - I've use one of those traditional garlic presses for years. The garlic "oozed" over the edge of the press's "hammer" so you need to stuff it back in and press again, and again. Plus they were a pain in the *** to clean. This press works. I got one just to try out a new kitchen toy and was I surprised. This press works. I have a 25 by 52 custom made rock maple chopping board so I was not afraid to put some pressure on this press. This press works. Yes, ya gotta peel the garlic clove and trim the ends, maybe cut the clove smaller, but with a little practice, like the second clove - zowie. This press works. Move it over the intact pieces and rock away. This press works. Cleaning was a snap, spray water over the top and bottom and it comes clean. Did I mention that this press works. (Don't tell, but I got four more for Christmas presents.) 4Joseph 20037 garlic rocker crusher mincer pressWorks well. I found it's easiest when you first start to push down on one side then rock to other and push that side instead of trying to smash the whole clove with a straight down motion. I do use large elephant garlic. I was nicely surprised how the garlic collects on top once you smash it leaving almost nothing behind. If you want the pieces smaller just re-crush. I also use it to mince/smash onion.5Favorite innovative kitchen tool This is my favorite tool in the kitchen. I used to hate crushing garlic with the traditional garlic press because so much garlic would stick to the device and was difficult to clean. With this tool is so simple with no moving parts. After crushing the garlic, you get it off by scraping both sides w/ a knife. Sometimes using your finger works best. Some garlic will remain stuck in the holes, but can be easy be scraped out or poked out with a know. I originally got the plastic one and it worked great but it cracked. It is still functional with the small crack on the surface but don't expect it to last much longer. I loved it so much I got stainless steel ones as gifts for my sister and mom. My sister did not like it so now I am very happy to have two of them!! :) 5
