    Sad excuse for a heater. Customer Service is a joke! What to do when a waterbed heater out? Sleep on a floating ice cube or buy a new heater?It sounds like a no-brainer when put in those terms. Still, waterbed heaters are expensive, and you have to choose a replacement based on the bottom line. I sadly chose the bottom line with poor results.I purchased this heater in October 2018. Much to my dismay as I replaced an Innomax heater with an Innomax heater, the replacement never worked. I was actually NOT getting a heated bed. The floating ice cube I was trying to replace was back. Fast forward to January 2019...Still freezing.The warranty is still in effect for the faulty thermostat, but the cost to return this to be fixed is a whopping 27.00 extra (this is shipping to their replacement center and return shipping). WTF!I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this product. 1Nothing like a warm waterbed Working like a champ -- since these things have to be replaced every so often, we are glad to be able to order from Amazon. Only has a two year warranty, but the last one was good for five years, so we'll hope this one exceeds expectations, too! 4So far so good! The heater arrived sooner than expected which was great since sleeping on a cold water bed has not been pleasant. It was in good shape and I like the analog dial with the indicator light. The instructions were easy to follow and setup didn't take long beyond draining the waterbed. So far it works great, heats the bed evenly and we haven't noticed any hot/cold spots on the bed. Will have to see if it will stand the test of time though, as other reviewers said it died prematurely. 5buy it Works like a champ, just set it and forget it. I was leary that it wouldnt heat the whole waterbed but it does and well. 5Beware Innomax branded products purchased online. Purchased this product as I mistakenly recognized Innomax as a quality company who backs their products and delivers customer service. Unfortunately I purchased this product far enough in advance of receiving my new Waterbed Frame and Pedestal that after using it a few days and realizing the thermostat was faulty my return window to Amazon had passed. I contacted Innomax to return the unit for a warranty replacement and was advised to return the unit with a receipt and the best way to ship it was USPS Flat Rate Box @ $12.85 cost to me. I was then informed I would also be responsible to pay shipping costs of a replacement unit BACK to me by the Innomax customer service agent. So I'm looking at $26 in shipping costs to receive a replacement unit for a defective $55 Innomax product that never worked properly. Be wary of buying any Innomax branded product. Sadly I also purchased an Innomax branded mattress and safety liner but now know my warranty is virtually useless moving forward. Imagine the cost to both ship and then pay for the return shipping costs of a defective waterbed mattress. Tried to submit warranty claim twice, only to receive error messages. They finally emailed me and informed me the warranty is only for 2 years. The copy of the warranty I have said 5 years.Then I was informed in order to receive a replacement I'd have to pay an additional $30. Hmmm, why provide a warranty at all? I initially paid $55.46 for the heater. Another $25 and I would be buying another new one, though hopefully not defective. If the heater only lasts 5 months, I could end up buying several new heaters per year, not to mention the hassle of taking everything apart again.My last heater lasted many years. I presume they think everyone has a back up bed to sleep in until they get around to remedying the problem....that is, IF they do. What a waste of money, never the less poor quality and customer service. However, Amazon saved the day! 1still working fine. We've had it about 6 months now, still working fine. 5Almost a year and still working just fine. I was a little hesitant to get this because of the mixed reviews. I'm glad I went for it. It was a needed item. It's been almost a year and it's still working just fine. 5So far so good... Have had it for a couple of months and seems to be working OK. Time will tell if it is as good or better than the other reviews. But for now I am happy with the purchase. If it tanks, I will update the review 4Not durable I've had 3 of these over the last 4 years, only brand available locally at retail. Last one lasted all of 4 months, was from Amazon. It's the controller that goes out, the heater pad seems to be bulletproof. I've used the same heater pad for all of them, has the same resistance as the replacements and the plug is the same. So haven't had to drain and replace the pad. No way are these as durable as the old electromechanical kind with the metal thermostat bulb. Time for a brand switch, even though it means a drain in the middle of winter. 1
