    Finally the right tool! After struggling with those dreadful craft store pliers for years and ruining lots of snap sets I have finally found the best tool for setting snaps in leather. I am not a professional and if I were I would use the standard stationary snap setter, but this is a portable tool that makes a perfect snap every time. It is a bit hard on my arthritic overused right hand, but I don't mind a bit because the results are perfect. Be sure to get the correct dies for the snap size you are using! It comes with the dies for Line 24 snaps which are bigger than the Line 20 which are more readily available in craft stores. I found the best snaps online and at Home Depot next to the grommets and rivets. 5Perfect for 24L Snaps great snap setter for jackets and stuff. it sets size 24L snaps. it's very easy to use. i'm so happy i finally bought this. going to put snaps in everything. 5Buy it. Worth every penny. Seems pricy, but if you have ever used the hammer and pin style of snap install, you know what a pain in the *** it is. I have used this for snaps and grommets, and it worked flawlessly. If you are installing snaps in boat carpet, buy this tool. I would buy it again just for that. Locate the snap in the deck, poke through the carpet with an awl centered on the male snap screw, snap the female end on the tool, pull out the awl and put it through in the opposite direction, put the snap head on the awl and use the awl to guide it through the hole, remove the awl, center the head in the tool, and squeeze the handle. I have used this on a bunch of projects now and it has held up perfectly. 5Great portable tool for setting snaps etc., easy to use Great portable tool for setting snaps etc. Much more useful than the bench tool i have, and sets the just as well. The only real difference is the bench tool can automatically cut through thicker sets of material and eisenglass. This tool requires a little pre-application hole in very thick material, but that is a small price to pay for a great portable tool.Rochford Supply sold it to me, for a great price, will all dies included. My only complaint is that the size and cost warrants that it should come with a ,case. Keeping all of the attachments, buttons, snaps, studs, etc. would be nicely accomplished with a simple compartment type case. Got to take a star for that. Definitely a recommend buy. 4I just wish I knew what goes with what. A complete snap fastener consists of four components, and each component fits into one of four tool adapters. Sorry but they are not obvious to me. First match all four tool adapters with the proper snap pieces, then pair off the halves that crimp together, and finally pair off the mating interlocking halves that snap together. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to buy a few grommets as a hint to help associate the adapters with the application. There should be instructions somewhere that associate part numbers that go together in proper sequence. Otherwise it seems to be as good a tool as you can buy for this purpose. 5Expensive but well worth it. I've tried the other hammer and die tools. They deform the snaps and do not uniformly open the rivet part. This tool does it perfectly every time. Further it allows you to install the snaps on the canvas in situ as it doesn't require a flat surface as backing. The only draw back is that the handle needs to be open quite a long way to place the tool over a snap. And for someone with small hands this might be a little difficult without a third hand. Once you get the hang of it it is really quick taking just seconds per snap. Expensive but well worth it. 5This is the only snap tool to have if you're ... This is the only snap tool to have if you're going to set snaps in the marine industry which is what I work in. I use this tool to install snaps in boat covers and boat carpet. Can't do without it. 5Carpet isn't an easy install, but did the job! These work well to get the job done, the hand grip took some getting used to. I probably would just let the professionals do this in the future. I think for a hand tool this is very expensive for something you may use only a handful of times. Also, the rubber grommets that hold the pieces in place wore out quickly. You need strong hands to use these, just a heads up. 5Outstanding! This product is a perfect demonstration of "you get what you pay for". While it may be rather expensive compared to other snap tools it is by far the best handheld snap tool you can purchase. It is well made, has the necessary dies to do male and female snaps and it just flat out works.If you have a boat cover that needs new snaps this tool will have the job done in little to no time, and zero frustration. I've done full bow & cockpit covers replacing over 100 snaps with no problem. Replacing snaps on clothing is just as easy as well.With no question this tool will be the first and only time I will have to purchase it. It probably can get passed down a few generations. 5
