Customer Reviews

Used to make almond milk I have decided to start making my own almond milk to save a few bucks a week:- After soaking the nuts in filtered water, I dump out the water that I used to soak the nuts.- I put the nuts in the blender with clean filtered water and blend.- I pour the nut milk and newly-made almond meal into a glass jar, which has this milk bag slipped over the lip. The almond meal is caught by the nut milk bag, while the majority of the milk is stored neatly in the jar.- I squeeze the almond meal in the nut milk bag to squeeze as much remaining nut milk as I possibly can.- I store the milk in the fridge and dry the almond meal to store for future use, typically in baked goods.I love using it. The cloth mesh is fine enough to catch tiny almond meal bits, but not so fine that it can't let tiny vanilla scrapings through or make it difficult to squeeze the remaining liquid out of the almond meal. It's fairly easy to clean - I just turn it inside-out to get rid of any remaining almond meal crumbs, scrub it down with some soap, make sure the soap is washed out, and then hang it up to dry. 5My new kitchen staple Love this bag! Between using it for nut milk and kombucha, it really is a staple kitchen item for me now. As some others have said, I would recommend, when using it, to use it inside out, aka have the seams exposed. This makes clean up a lot easier (nut powder doesn t get caught or scoby pieces). 5The One I Received Was Not As Pictured First of all, Amazon was great about returning this for free. But you should know that the one I received was not as pictured. I bought this specifically for the shape as the curved corners are easier to clean and instead of being U shaped, it was curved on one side and had a sharp right angle on the other. Ellie's Best is much better! I bought that one through Amazon as well. 2Easy cleaning While this appears to be a simple bag, it somehow manages to shed all food remnants very easy during the cleaning process. Half the reason I had never tried making almond milk was because I would have had to deal with cleaning up. This bag is a breeze to clean. To clean just turn inside out and rinse. 5Nut Milk Bag vs Paint Strainer Bag I bought a couple strainer bags at Home Depot for about 2.50. I used one bag for maybe 5 times and it was obvious that it was loosing integrity every time I used it. I don't think I could have got 5 more uses out of it. It did work fine... though I think that the pulp was starting to stick to the bag a little. I would NOT recommend buying paint strainer bags. This nut milk bag works great. I have used it to make almond milk about 20-25 times now. I can see it easily lasting quite awhile....at least a year. Though I will update my review as time passes. It is easy to clean and the mylk goes through well. I think it is well made. For the convenience of buying this and having it last a long time and not making one myself, I think this bag is definitely worth the investment. The only thing I think the maker should change is the drawstring. It is made out of a slippery type rope and when you tie it, it does not knot tight and stay knotted. So I have to re knot it many times. Also, the rope is starting to fray at the ends. Even so, I am still giving 5 stars for this product.Advise....buy this nut milk bag and not the paint strainer bagUPDATE! July 15th 2013 I am still using the same bag. I do not use it as frequently as I used to, but I would say that I have used it at least 100 times. 5Best bag out there!! I purchased this bag over a year ago to strain the foamy pulp that was too large to strain through the initial strainer placed over my juicing receptacle bowl. I simply place that strainer in this bag and with a spoon scoop out the foamy sediment into the bag.I twist and wring the bag and pour the resulting juice in with my other filtered juice. It works wonderfully, you'd be surprised to see how, much juice is left in that foamy residue, often time as much as a half of a cup! This bag has very fine mesh holes so you get pure filtered juice. It is not hard to clean if you dab a small bit of washing detergent on the bag and clean it immediately. Being lazy one day I let some vegetable pulp sit in the bag for a few days and needless to say I forever stained the bag and it also had an odd smell, so I threw the bag away. The bag is tough, dries easily and has very fine holes, BUY IT!! The bag is perfect, Im buying two more!! 5~ WORTHLESS ~ I was Charged $14.95 for this Piece of Junk, the bag is totally useless, some of the stitches on the Seams are not even well Sewn and if you squeeze the milk out as I do, the bag is not strong enough. I can't make it fit around any of my glass containers, my bag is only 8 inches in diameter, so I have to hold it up with my left hand while I pour the Almond Milk into it with my right hand, difficult and hard to do, I don't want to hang it from any place I don't have the time for that specially when I make 1 Gallon of Almond Milk at a time Quart by Quart. The Nut Milk Bag should give out the Measurements, the Length is 11 1/2 inches Long by 8 inches Wide, Not Wide Enough! ...Thank You D.D. 1You'll want to pass on this one, there are much better bags available The squared bottom needs to be tapered (which I adjusted with a few snips and a surger/sewing machine). If you process like me, I place the bag in a pitcher. The squared bottom flanges out when lifting the filled bag from the pitcher causing a mess if you don't remember or anticipate the flare when pulling out.The width is narrower than other bags I've used, not wide enough for a standard pitcher. I usually fold the top over the top of the pitcher so the bag doesn't fall into the liquid in the pitcher. Again, makes for more potential of a mess.I do like the thin mesh, that is a better than the bags I've used which tends to let more pulp through. Separating the pulp is the point of using a nutbag, so this is the only positive comment for this product.I've found (unused) knee-high pantyhose the cheapest and best for my listed needs (taper and hugs top of pitcher). At least get a tapered bag when looking for a nutbag, folks. 2Love these! These are the best nut milk bags I've ever used. I've not bought nut milk since I got one of these. My recipe: 2 handfuls of almonds, (I buy mine 100% raw and organic from a farm in CA), 2 cups filtered water, blend, filter that through the bag(I massage the bag and pulp to extract as much as possible), add one spoonful molasses, one spoonful 100% raw honey, and 2 tablespoons non-gmo soy lecithin, blend again. I love it and am able to have my milk any time with just 15 min prep time. Will only use this bag, it's the best out there. We're so impressed we are trying it now to filter our veg glycerin tinctures. 5Works very well The name raises eyebrows but the bag itself works great for straining nut milks for a final smooth product. After blending I usually strain the nut milk through a regular mesh strainer and then use a nut bag to finish straining any pulp that makes it through the strainer. Works great! This bag looks and feels well made, I have no doubt that it will last for quite a while.I like to take the pulp left over from making almond milk and spread it out on a fruit leather sheet in my dehydrator (or oven on parchment paper) and dehydrate until it is brittle enough to break into pieces. Toss the pieces into blender to turn into almond meal flour. Use as breading for fish or chicken. Nothing wasted! This bag is easy to use and clean. 5
