Customer Reviews

Not as picturedWhat I ordered, as pictured, is a food grade bag of properly labeled, factory sealed Calcium Chloride. What I received was a sandwich bag inside of a sandwich bag of unlabeled white powder. Completely unsatisfactory packaging for something that is intended for food grade use. I am returning for a refund. 1Good StuffNot going to add anything that others have already covered but to say this: If you are using this for brewing your own beer, stick with the instructions and use about 1 tsp/5 gallons, even if you are building a water profile using distilled. In a fit of laziness, I made the mistake of following a recipe without running my own numbers. End result, I made sea water with a hint of hops. 4... to pickle some yellow peppers and the product worked great to maintain crispnessI decided to pickle some yellow peppers and the product worked great to maintain crispness. Product came faster than expected. Nothing more to say but would purchase again. 5Cheaper than 'Pickle Crisp'Works just as well as Ball's Pickle Crisp, at a fraction of the price. I have a small business and we make pickles, to keep my pickles from getting soggy I put 1/8th of a tsp in every pint jar and 1/4 tsp in every quart. I was buying the Pickle Crisp every month, but this bulk Calcium Chloride will last me the whole year. Sure beats forking over $5+ for a tiny little jar. This fills the Pickle Crisp jar to the brim at least twice. I will definitely be coming back for this product.I have had no issues with dissolving, it has always dissolved quickly in the brine. 5Seems to work fine, might have a slight impurity.I use this for treating store bought milk before making cheese. Seems to do the job as I get good curd sets. There is some residue that never completely dissolves when I make a 30% (mass) solution. Not sure what it is, possibly some impurity. Whatever it is doesn't seem to be a problem. I just mix up a large batch in a mason jar and let the residue settle out to the bottom. Easy enough to draw the clear solution out with a syringe. 5Bag filled with air and exploded before I could useI don't know how or why this happened since I'm not a chemist and there weren't instructions stating product requires refrigeration or total darkness. Yet somehow the bag filled with air and exploded from internal pressure months after it was purchased; similar to leaving food without preservatives out at room temperature allows gas generated from bacterial activity to accumulate and burst out of the container. Weird...and disappointing. 2I use this weekly for cheese making, will be ordering more!I use this for making raw goat's milk Mozzarella! It is exactly as advertised and I highly recommend it.This is the best price I could find, and I will be ordering again. 5Great for this science teacher! This worked great for my science class. I used this to do an experiment on exothermic reactions with my students and it worked wonderfully and was more affordable than buying from an educational chemical supply company. 5Forget expensive drying packs - this worksI use these for keeping my beer cellar freezer dry. I just pour it in a tray and leave it in the basket. Only needs replacing every few months (even in the humid South) and one bag is good for two changeouts. 5Excellent, Smells Like a Chemical, Bag Came Slightly Ripped, SalvagedBag arrived slightly ripped with just 1 gram of contents spilled out, tapped shut the rips.CaCl smells like a chemical, so best to store it double bagged to prevent an odor.I used this CaCl to make a 32% saturated solution for cheese making. I add 1/4 tsp per 2 gallons of milk to help with curd formation. To make 32% CaCl saturated solution by weight, take 32 grams of CaCl and 68 grams (or 68 ml) of distilled or purified (non-chlorinated) water, slowly combine the two, it will produce an exothermic reaction that will heat up the water up to 70C, so be careful. The final solution should weigh 100 grams and contain 32% CaCl. I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078B6S9B2 TekSky 500G/0.01G Digital Kitchen Scale to get the granules measured by weight correctly. Recipe scales easily, just watchout for heat generation. To calculate a different liquid size, take desired weight and multiply by 0.32 to get CaCl weight, and multiply desired weight by 0.68 to get the water volume/weight. 1 gram of water = 1 ml of water. 5
