Customer Reviews

Great low cost spoons - Things to know: These are low cost spoons. Depending on how you plan to use them, they may or may not work for you.Keep in mind that some babies are picky about the material of the spoon. (For example they might not like a solid plastic spoon or a metal spoon.)As others have mentioned, some deterioration can occur. (See Durability below.)- Our situation: My preemie son is just now starting to eat solids. He is a picky eater, so we didn t want to spend too much on spoons in the event that he doesn t like the shape or texture of them.- Size: Perfect for babies that are ready to eat solids & beyond.- How long I've used them for: For the last 2 months, we have been using 2 spoons on rotation. We use the spoon as least once a day.- Durability: Depends on amount of use & age of your kids. Many have mentioned that the bottom of the spoon deteriorates after some use. I believe this is unavoidable if you are using it on a baby that has started teething & is learning to eat. They will bite the spoon or grate the bottom of the spoon & cause more than normal wear. Once your baby learns how to work a spoon, this problem should disappear. OR if you are using this on a child or older baby, you shouldn t have this problem. Read on regarding this.- Design: I like the fact that these are soft flexible plastic. It entices my Son to take the spoon & I can easily use it to wipe around the mouth when he gets messy. However, being flexible plastic will mean it has the drawbacks of durability. While I think it s clever of these spoons to have the build in support to keep the spoon off the table, it takes some getting use to. If you put the spoon on a shallow container or your baby grabs at it, they can easily flip the spoon (& it s content) all over the place. Even if I set the spoon inside an empty baby food jar, it can easily tip over & out of the jar. To avoid this, you can set it on the table.-Final comment- I bought 2 packs of these & am happy with my purchase. Now that I see that my Son loves to eat & is not picky, I may get him a metal feeding spoon or hard plastic. However, I will keep these for when he starts to eat on his own. 4Great at first, but not so much 2 months on I loved the spoon. All bendy. One of my twins would sometimes sleep off while eating, and because of the material the spoon is made from, i had no qualms getting food into his mouth. Its so soft , so i prod his mouth and teeth open with it.It was really lovely at first. However, we are down to our last spoon out of 5, and its just been 4 months of use ie each spoon was useful to us for about 2 months. The back gets all scaly n begins to peel off. Quite annoying. So definately wont get this again. Sad 2My Favorite Spoons for Baby...and My Favorite WEIRD Thing About Them Is... My Favorite Spoons for Baby.Have tried several others but these are my go-to.PERFECTION:-You know how the rubber cake spatulas are amazing at scraping the cake batter off the inside of the bowl (as a kid I wanted to HIDE them so I would get to lick more batter from the bowls as my Nana baked!!)? Well...this may sound weird, but my favorite thing about these is how well they get the food off the edge of the dishes! Lol. Seriously, I can get every stray crumb or drop off of the dish...or off her face...and into her mouth! -Softer material than others I've bought.-Inexpensive so can replace regularly. 5Best spoons for the best price These are my favorite spoons for my one-year-old. We have been using them since he was about eight months old.Pros:- spatula tip is great for cleaning up messy faces- rectangular tip is better for preventing messy faces than a round spoon- elevated spoon rest keeps goop off of the table- thick and long handle is good for youngsters to grasp- Fun colorsCons:- The handle is heavier than the tip, so the spoon often falls out of shallow bowls I ordered two sets, and I received one of the boy sets and one of the girl sets. I doubt my one year-old son minds eating from a pink spoon, so I am happy that I didn't pay extra for a specific color choice. Overall, this is a great value for good quality spoons. 5I like the long handle, don't care for the durability These spoons great for certain features and less great for others. I love that I can put the spoon down and it won't get food all over the table. The spatula function is smooth on my son's skin but I don't really find I have an issue with any of the other spoons we have either. The long handle is also nice and saves me from getting some food on my hands. My issue comes with the longevity of these spoons. We've had other spoons for longer than we've had these and they are holding up much better. The NUK's have started to discolor and one started to peel. I could live with the discoloration and chalk it up to us giving foods that are likely to stain (although none of our other spoons have suffered from this) but the plastic peeling is an issue for me. Obviously, I don't want my son ingesting plastic so that spoon is in the trash. Our Vital Baby spoons are holding up amazingly and we use those far more often. 3Where were these baby spoons when we had our first child?! The main selling point that led me to pick these spoons was the flat edges. At first I was unsure of how baby food would work on this spoon, how could it possibly stay on and not slide right off? Well, let me tell you, the longer style of the spoon head works perfectly to hold very finely pureed baby food. The flat edges are perfect for scraping down the sides of bowls and getting food from around baby's mouth. The longer handle helps keep your fingers out of the baby food as well. They hold up well when washed in the dishwasher. The built in spoon rest feature is not something we personally picked/use this for so I can not speak for the usefulness of it.The only con I can see about these spoons is that the edges do discolor VERY easily when using them for items such as carrots or sweet potatoes. After one feeding with carrots, you can kiss and color uniformity goodbye. Also, be aware that the plastic on the spoon head is not incredibly hard, so older babies who like to chew on things will be able to chew this plastic. All in all, I would recommend these spoons for anyone looking for good, affordable baby spoons. 5No More Messy Tables I have lots of baby spoons. I have to say, The Gerber Graduates Rest Easy Spoons in Assorted Colors, 5-count, Sold by: Amazon.com LLC., are my favorites. These spoons are really great. They have a "spoon rest" on the bottom of each spoon. This prevents the spoon from actually touching the surface below it. I love not having to worry about picking up germs off the table. It is also really great to not have to wipe baby food off the table. The spoons have a very soft flat tip. This makes it easier to "swipe" the food off the little ones face. They are BPA-free. They are also dishwasher safe. The bright colors make them attractive. 5Great little spoons! My daughter loves these.I've had issues in the past with baby spoons staining from sitting in orange baby food but haven't ran across this yet with these spoons. They are soft silocone, flexible and easy to clean in the dishwasher. The shape of the spoons makes it easy to pick up all of the remaining food inside of the bowl and doesn't poke her mouth when it goes inside.Since the spoons are flexible, she also likes to use them to chew (with supervision) because they feel good without hurting her gums.I like how they have a little piece at the bottom that keeps the mouthpiece from touching the table which helps cut back on gathering germs as well as dirtying her tray.I will definitely be ordering more. 5awesome spoons! My 6 month old and I LOVE these spoons! All my babysitting relatives have also commented on how handy these are. The size of the bowl of the spoon is good, and you can easily control how much you're putting in each bite. The flat spatula edge is super handy for cleaning up the inevitable extra that ends up all around baby's mouth. I also really like the little rests built into the spoon, for several reasons: it's awesome to keep the bowl of the spoon safely off the table, both for less mess and so you don't have to worry as much about how sterile the table is; it doesn't make it any harder to hold or use; and my baby likes to try to hold the spoon too and help me guide it into his mouth, and, for now at least, those bumps keep him from sliding his fingers all the way down the spoon handle and into the bowl of the spoon, so he gets less food on his hands from holding the spoon (though of course he gets plenty on his hands when he then sticks his hands in his mouth before chewing! oh, babies...) It kind of annoys me that some people have complained here that the rests get food on them too, so then the table still gets dirty, because for one thing, I think this is way more about keeping the spoon clean throughout the meal (especially if you're out and about somewhere) than keeping the table clean, and anyway, I'd still rather have little drops of food from the rests rather than laying the whole spoon on the table, so I still think it's worthwhile. In response to some of the other reviews, this part I'm sure is very individual, but we haven't found these to be too long in the bowl for baby's mouth. He totally likes to grab the spoon and shove it into his mouth and tries to chew on the spoon, and he hasn't gagged yet from that...and I otherwise would've expected him to have that issue more often than not, because we had to switch brands of bottles quite a bit to finally find nipples that weren't too long/deep for his mouth, as the normal Medela ones were gagging him. Again, I'm sure it completely depends on the baby, but we haven't had any problem with that.I've had these for over a month now, and I haven't had any issue yet with peeling like some reviewers have mentioned, but I'll try to remember to update this review if that does happen to us too. 5my daughter love both of them Big problem with the build quality, the edge of the spoon are peeling off after a week of use. the silicon tip really have build quality problem, they are not a whole piece. 2 out of five currently have this problem. I dont want my daughter eating the silicon after a week use.we purchased this one and also the munchin soft-tip. my daughter love both of them, but overall, i think Munchkin is better. it holds more food, better build quality. feeding is more efficient compare to this gerber. 1
