    Garbage You cant tighten down the pencil, so that slides. Also even if you tighten down the angle adjuster it still moves. It's a cheap tool that is useless because the parts move. 1WOrks as expected Works as expected. 5Circle Too small. 3JUNK JUNK.....Poorly made and moves every time you try to tighten. Do not waste your money. I do not write many reviews, but feel the need to comment of the quality of this one. 1Best You can spend more but why? Works perfect and you can buy 4 if they break/ bend for the price of another that's not as stiff/accurate. I've scribed miles of base won't use anything else 5Scriber The best inexpensive scriber I've found. Simple, easy to adjust and well made for the price. The wing nut setting holds securely.Update: Well, I've had this scriber for a while now and found it not to be as sturdy as the same scriber made years ago. It's still OK, but far more tinny and bendy than units 20 years or so old. Too bad, the design is good but General has cheapened their product to the point that it's barely usable for scribing in finish carpentry work. 5A Must Have As a carpenter I used this scribe thousands of times and somehow over time it got lost in the shuffle. So glad to find one again. It should last a lifetime. 5Indispensable! A must have for fitting countertops to walls. Take it apart & spread the one side a little, and it fits a mechanical pencil perfectly to give you a fine line. 5Decent Works fine. I have to keep a few sets around, so I can find one when I need it.Cheap enough and work OK 4Low quality. Received with damage. I thought I was getting a good deal on a compass, but this tool is very low quality and in my opinion, is not worth even one dollar. I didn't notice when I removed the compass from its packaging, but the holder portion of the compass was squashed down, making it impossible to insert a pencil . Since I needed this compass for a fencing project I was knee-deep in the middle of, to scribe the fence bottom to contour to uneven ground, I tapped a Phillips-head screw driver through the pencil holder with a hammer and was able to open the holder enough to insert a pencil. The gold-tone metal is very flimsy, and I don't imagine this tool will last long, but it was inexpensive and will serve its intended purpose for my fencing project. I figured this tool would be better than holding a pencil in my hand and using my index finger as a scribe, and would be a nice addition to my tool box, but not so much. 2
