    Well Designed Been using them for years, and for a shower head filter it works great in terms of not reducing the flow. Cannot be certain that it removes much, but if it does, then this unit is well designed. 5 5Not filtering out the chlorineTested the water for chlorine after a month of use. The chlorine is still there, not filtering out the chlorine. I wonder if the chloramine my city add to the tap water has anything to do with this filter not being able to filter out the chlorine. If it is,then this filter is useless because many cities and counties around the country add chloramine to their municiple waters. I should have tested this useless filter sooner. I use test strips to detect chlorine in my filtered tap water.1I replace monthly instead of every 3 month due to the poor water quality in my apartmentI have been using this for the hard water in my area for more than 5 years. Occasionally, I've gotten a "dud" filter, one that was bad, i.e. did not work from new, had to be replaced immediately. I also got one once, that lasted a year. Now, I've gotten 4 in a row that were no good. I've sworn off, and bought another brand. Their QC must be at best ht and miss, and at worst, non-existent.1Works but priceyWorks well but as usual with any GE filter replacement the cost is higher than it should be. I keep hope that someone will come out with a cheaper replacement but probably won't happen as there are not that many in service. Oh well...4Makes water softer and decreases chlorine/sedimentThis filter makes my water feel softer and decreases the amount of chlorine and sediment. I have not run scientific tests to see how much it has changed my water, but I am satisfied with its performance. I am on the sixth filter in my original shower unit - I haven't had any cracks or issues that some other reviewers have experienced. Please note that it may be cheaper to buy locally than online, but that varies based off of locale.4Five Starsworks great!5No Longer Satisfied With GE FilterI have been using the GE shower water filter system for several years. Most recently, I purchased six FXSCH filters at $9.99 each for our use and for relatives using this product. They are supposed to be changed every six months. There are a couple of problems with this filter. First, the product has only limited warranty of 30 days from date of purchase. Too many of these products are received defective. When unwrapped and unsealed, upon inverting, the filtering sand either poured out or on installation, washed out onto the shower floor. Apparently, this can happen when products received have been on the retailer shelf more than 30 days. Do not order more than one unless you assume at least one will be defective and hope at least one is good. We just found three filters purchased a year ago all bad. Also, the GE customer service is understaffed with probable telephone hold time longer than 20-30 minutes. We plan to change to another brand.2Easy to replace I replace this every 6 months in my shower to keep contaminants out of our water. I haven't tested the water, but it seems to make a difference. 5I love these filtersI really just tried these filters to see how they would work but that was years ago and I finally thought I would recommend it.I of course bought the whole unit,it is shorter than most of the ones I looked at but I have a short neck on my shower so it hugs close to the wall.And that was what sold it for me on Amazon but when I got it home it went on very easy and when I showered with it the water even felt cleaner and no real odor.So I have bought these filters ever since.5Great product in a small packageThis little filter works like a charm, easy to install and works well.5
