    Works well, but hard to clean This does a good job of piercing the hole, though occasionally if I have a really thin egg shell it will make a larger hole.The reason I only gave it three stars is because it is difficult to clean. I want to clean the piercing pin after each use since there is some egg white left on the piercing pin, which I'm sure is a health concern. As others have said you really can't use soapy water on it because there is no way to drain the water back out. The best suggestion I have would be to use some distilled vinegar on a paper towel to carefully clean it without stabbing yourself. 3Humpty Dumpty wouldn t like this. I used to have an egg piercer years ago that had a button to push and the little spike would shoot out and pierce the egg. Easy peasy. This one isn t like that. You have to push the egg down onto this plastic egg-shaped thing to make the spike come out. I broke a couple of eggs. Not a good design, folks. 1Cheap, Flimsy, Breaks the Egg. Wow, a a complete piece of junk. First off, the piercer was filthy... like it had been sitting on a dusty shelf for years. It feels cheap and flimsy, and the part that actually pierces the egg shell is nothing more than a nail. The first egg I used crushed and I had to rinse it off to get all the egg out of it, which was a chore because its hollow and water does not exit it easily. It cracked 3 of the 6 eggs after that. The spring mechanism is total crap. I swear this is exactly like something you'd buy in the Dollar Store and end up throwing away. So the fact they charge $6 for this is ridiculous. Normally I would just keep it and throw it out, but out of principal I sent it back. Don't waste your money. 1No good. purchased and returned - doesn't work. My engineering opinion is that the inner yellow part moves around too much - it's not guided down on to the pin when you depress it, so kee-rack. No good. 1Useless Don't waste your money. Doesn't operate smoothly and frequently just breaks the eggs entirely. 1For the best hard boiled eggs I use this egg piercer when making hard boiled eggs for my Japanese egg molds (APT Egg plate 6pcs set Star Fish Car Heart Rabbit Bear Shape). It's great because it prevents air pockets from forming inside the egg shells, which makes the eggs easier to mold into a desirable shape.For those who have never pierced eggs, don't worry - the egg does not escape through the hole (if you do it right). 5It's an egg cup, and this is a review. Yep! It's an egg cup. Hmmmm-- that's not much of a review, is it? Okay. Fine.It's a white egg cup. It cups eggs nicely, and does so in a ceramic fashion. Um, dishwasher safe... symmetrical... balanced... precisely engineered... can be gripped comfortably in one's fingertips... stylishly modern, with a hint of old-world charm... part of a matching set, making it an ideal purchase to begin your collection... if you buy extra large eggs, you can quip that your egg cup runneth over... and that's no yolk...Yep! It's still an egg cup. 5Ok, but can bind causing you to break the egg. The device works most of the time. But it can bind if not completely even while pushing the egg onto it. You think you are applying pressure to insert the needle but the device is bound up and the needle is not moving, you can break the egg, I did. Not reliable enough. 1Perfect for Farm Fresh Eggs! We ordered this product specifically to make hard boiled eggs from farm fresh eggs. This product did exactly that! Perfectly! I received the product this evening, and have already done a dozen and a half eggs! Made egg salad and my husband LOVED it.We followed the instructions exactly and would reorder this product again! (& may order a second to have on hand!) 5I'll keep it, but.... I expected it to be easier. It is difficult to tell when the egg has been pierced. Also, it is easy to push too hard, and have the egg smash entirely. Now, I'm "gun shy" and don't push firmly enough, and don't get a good pierce, which causes my eggs to crack during steaming.I can't tell whether it is a sharpness problem with the needle, the girth of the needle, or what, but it doesn't work as awesomely as I had hoped. :( 2
