Customer Reviews

Super and dependable pen !I like this pen for sooooo many reasons. Not only does this pen write upside down, it is very smooth. I have one with the fine point ink cartridge along with one the regular/medium point. I honestly cannot see a difference.I personally like the gold(ish) version with the clip. It fits in everything - billfolds, wristlets, phone cases...The Space pen comes in great presentation plastic latch box. I have given the many versions of this pen sold here on Amazon as presents. The recipients really like and treasure the pens, always. The pen is 5 1/2 opened. It is 3 7/8 with the top closed. Just a great pen that has, and does, last for years and years. :) 5Best Pen I Have FoundThe Fisher Bullet Space Pen is my favorite writing implement. It has a smooth ink that dries quickly and I have never had one leak any ink or glob at the tip. Hey, who doesn't love a pen that can write in any position or even underwater?!? The pen looks like it would be too short to be comfortable writing. Well, that would be true if you didn't put the cap on the end of the pen. This makes the pen the perfect length to write comfortably. And because it is so short I can carry it in that watch pocket that all mens jeans have over the right-front pocket. When in dress slacks, it is small enough to sit in the pants pocket and you wouldn't know it was there. I never leave the house without my bullet pens and use them regularly. I have them in blue and red and select the color that best goes with what I am wearing that day. 5Falls apart easilyI already own a different version of the bullet space pen, matte black with clip. This chrome version with clip has a different body. I don't know if it's a older or newer model, but I purchased from Amazon in June 2016. Instead of threading in the center to screw the body of the pen together, it has a friction fit for the two separate parts of the body.Because of the fit, the body of the pen is prone to inadvertently coming apart. Sometimes when pulling the cap off.. But several times for me, when I pull the cap off it unknowingly loosens the body and the pen will fall apart in my hands when writing.Very disappointed in quality. This has been my only issue with this and any other fisher pen products.I purchased this pen because of the color. I love my Matte black space pen, but bought this chrome one so it would be more visible when searching for it. The models/versions of the bullet pen need to be clear when purchasing, as I don't want these friction fit pens at all because of this experience. 1I love my Space PenI've posted a picture of the Space Pen I've carried in my pocket daily for 20 years. It's been looking old and beat up for a long time and I thought I would get a new one for myself and the red one for my daughter who wasn't born when I got my old one. The story goes that a million dollars went into the development of this pen that the astronauts could take into space and write in zero-G. The punch line was that the Russian sent their astronauts up with a pencil! :) Even so, I very much prefer my Space Pen and have never had to worry about whether it would write or not. 5Quality penQuality made pen. Grip feels nice. Not too heavy or light. Comes in fancy packaging with a case. Would make a good gift. Some cons about the pen. It is a bit small when the cap is covering the tip and I tend to loose small things like this. Weight is slightly off-balanced towards the bottom. Refills are a bit expensive, they run you about $6 each. The ink does live up to its expectations. It will write in places other pens have trouble such as receipt paper or laser printed. Some types of heavy laminated or glossy it will have trouble on. But that's as good as you'll get with an ink pen. At that point it becomes a marker's job. I don't always get a consistent flow out of it. It may be just my cartridge, when I get a replacement I'll update. Some reviewers have said that the clip falls off easily, but I've used this pen for about a week and haven't seen this. 4Excellent pen with a minor flawI bought this pen to carry in my pocket everyday as a companion to my pocket moleskine notebook. As someone who lives in a suburban area and has a generally unexciting life, I feel that while it is nice that this pen can supposedly write in space or underwater or upside down, I bought it primarily for its durability so that it can survive daily use and abuse especially as it sits with my keys in my pockets. In this department, this pen is excellent. It feels high quality, with a solid build and lack of rattling. When you put the cap on, the pen becomes shorter than the length of my moleskine notebook but when you place the pen cap on the back of the pen for writing the pen becomes full sized. The metal finish is high quality and I have not been able to scratch it yet even though it mixes with my keys in my pocket. This would have been the perfect pen for every day use and carry had it not been for one minor issue which some other reviews have also addressed: the pen occasionally writes evenly, causing globs of ink to spill or causing the pen to scratch at my notebook due to lack of ink flow. While this is definitely not acceptable for most pens, I feel I can overlook this as my primary use for this pen is to write chicken scratch to do lists and random thoughts in my notebook. The smeared ink and sometimes faded writing doesn't really contribute to the overall purpose of this pen as it still writes reliably, just not the most neatly. Overall, this was a great purchase and I will be buying more in the future once I manage to wear this one out. 4Here's What Happens if the Pen BreaksI had my pen for about 10 months, then dropped it when the pen was open with the cap on the back of the pen. I couldn't get the top off the back of the pen after that! It was stuck. I even put the pen in a vice, and dented the top a bit trying to pry it off.Never got the top off and was resigned to buy another one, because I LOVE this pen. Then I stumbled across the lifetime warranty, which basically said that if anything at all goes wrong mail the pen to the manufacturer for a fee replacement. So I did. A week or two later I got a brand new pen, a nice letter, and a free refill for my trouble. What's not to love? 5Needs some tweaks.I've previously bought the M4 cap-o-matic pen (which is great), so decided to buy this one for my partner.Sadly this one isn't quite as good. The pen itself write just as good as the M4 (obviously, same refill). But she has constant trouble with the clip sliding or even pinging off.It also often gets stuck if you press the cap on even slightly too much, to the point even I have to put some effort into getting it off.I'm not sure if this is because of it's one of the smooth lacquered ones as apposed to the powder coated ones that have much more grip-able surfaces and also wouldn't allow for a an airtight seal. 4Wouldn't trust it in space. Didn't survive my office jobAs noted by many other reviewers, this is apparently a new design that has a design/manufacturing defect. The threaded part that attaches the front of the pen to the back of the pen is held in by a pressed in insert. This insert isn't pressed in with enough force to keep it where it belongs. The company is apparently willing to replace or repair the pen, but the catch is that you have to pay to ship your pen across the country to their headquarters. It seems silly that I have to mail a broken pen across the country, but here we are.Other than the design defect, it is otherwise a pen with nice fit and finish, and slightly below average ink cartridges for writing, but that should be forgiven by anyone that needs a pen to work anywhere at anytime. 2Amazing classic pen with style and functionality.I've wanted a space pen for years and I am very glad I finally bought one. They are smaller than they appear in pictures and write well. Seems very tough and the colors are nice. I love the way it opens to a full size pen.Maybe not the best pen ever created, but possibly the best tough, light-ish edc pen. It is not the best pen for writing a novel or calligraphy, not the most comfy to hold, not the most expensive, not the lightest, and not made with rare materials, but it is not the worst in any category either. It is the versatility and style which make this pen so amazing.I replaced the cartridge with a fine point refill and it got even better. It writes over wet surfaces, on skin, and on walls without a problem. The pen is slightly slim, but the grippy grooves work well and it is easy to hold, even with wet or greasy hands. It writes well and it carries well in a back pocket. The version with the clip does not roll away when put down. I only use the clip for attaching to a notebook pen clip or an organizer pocket in a bag, not for use in an actual pocket or hanging from a lanyard, as it might get lost this way.The ink has a thick, greasy feel to it which is not a problem, but is noticeable in a direct comparison between this pen and one from the dollar store. With the fine refill, it is much less noticeable. The pen is nearly bomb proof. Not as tough as modern heavy tactical pens, but still strong enough to hold up for decades when not roughly abused. Very happy with the overall quality. The finish is nice and seems to wear well so far. Will update if it wears off easily, but I doubt it will happen. I've been using it every day since I bought it for writing at work and taking notes of d&d sessions, and I couldn't be happier. I have already ordered 2 more. 5
