    My problems are mostly the buttons that came in the package didn't work rightI needed to put both ends of a button on my belt to repair a missing snap fastner. The top part went on easy. But the bottom wouldn't attatch. The piece with the shaft would get crimped out but not inside the fastener, wasting the button. I even tried trimming the leather to make it thinner and ended up wasting every one in the kit trying to make it work. In the end I finally got it attached by using a 2nd shiny smooth top button. So I wasted 4 or 5 fasteners on 1 connection because it wasn't going in and locking the piece in place. Think of it as a rivet and in this case the rivet would pull back through the hole before it got spread out enough to lock it in place. 2Simple, Awesome tool!I loved how easy these were to use, this updated version has a punch that goes right thru fabric, worked perfectally and easy punched holes in the thick carhart overalls I was repairing. Next you have to remove the punch from the tool and replace it with the pieces that attach the top for the snap. removing the pieces with the flimsy plastic part it comes w wasnt working out so well so i just pried them off with a flathead screwdriver.Now theres 4 pieces to choose from 2 that make up the top and 2 on the bottom, and it took me a min to put the right ones together but once you figure that out its a breeze placing your snaps in place! 5Sets easily but only on the edge of fabric!The plier work well if you have a fairly firm grip. Be sure to make a small hole in the fabric where you want the post to go as the snaps are not self-tapping. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the pliers have a very short reach. The work great if they are on the edge of fabric but not in the middle of a larger item. 4Use Your Own Vise-Grips to Apply Additional PressureThe handles are weak but the high quality tools cost five times as much. I was repairing a boat canvas and could feel the handles start to give out (just like my last pair) and was lamenting that they didn't have handles as strong as a vice-grip, then it hit me. I took a pair of heavy duty pliers and put them on the pressing end opposite the handles and used those to apply additional pressure, which also allowed me to use both hands to apply pressure. That worked like a champ and did not apply undue stress to the tool. Now, if I were doing this everyday, I'd buy the better tool, but this is a twice a year chore for me. With a little help from a good tool, these got it done just fine. 4Perfect for leatherI'm not usually one to write Amazon reviews, but there were enough negative reviews about this thing that I felt compelled. This is an awesome product! The directions are clear and concise if you'll only follow them (I had trouble at first because I wasn't paying attention). I applied snaps to leather with no issue. Such an inexpensive alternative to a snap press! Seriously, just follow the instructions and you'll be applying awesome snaps to everything you wish. 5Absolutely useless! DO NOT BUY!!!The tool that it came with could not actually squeeze the pieces together to create the snap fasteners. I've found that the only kind of snap fastener kits that work seem to be the ones that come with the the metal pieces you have hit with a hammer. This tool is basically garbage. You could kind of use it to create holes in the fabric you are using, but expect to loose a snap fastener pair while doing so. DO NOT BUY!!! 1Pliers are JUNK!Attempted to install #24 snaps on some pouch flaps. Used up one entire card (7) of Dritz snaps post rivet would not flare or snap would be damaged. This was done using instructions provided on package. I tried several different positions. Upon close examination, the plier set (flaring tip) was found not to be on center with the nylon jaw pad. No way to adjust or correct the problem. Made in China...figures. I ended up installing the remaining snaps using some improvised shop tools. The pliers are resting in the bottom of my stock pond now. 1Great quality, easy to use once you get the hang of it!I really like these snap pliers, they are easy to use and way easier than hammering snaps in with the typical tools. I have had no issues with durability and have found that they successfully apply the snaps tightly every time, and I apply many snaps. It is easy to exchange the fittings once you get the hang of it, there is a bit of a learning curve. They're much cheaper here than at my fabric store which was also a huge plus! 5Did the trick for meThe only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because the instructions aren't too clear to a person such as myself who only bought this for a one time fix. With that said, once I watched a few videos online and laid all the parts out the tool worked wonderfully. I was adding buttons to a heavy winter jacket that had a hood secured by velcro. The velcro didn't even last a year before it became useless so I wanted to add snaps. I just used this tool to add 2 snaps and was done in about 10 minutes. I did ruin one snap but it was my own fault because I didn't apply enough pressure and make sure the snap was fully in place before releasing.Another note: I didn't need a pilot hole. I just needed to make sure the stud was in the correct location when I started applying pressure and it went through the heavy fabric with no problem. 4Easy enoughI've had zippers break on several dog bed covers. Snaps were the way for me to go. I didn't have to go through the trouble to replace zippers or the dog bed covers altogether. Very happy with the functionality of these snap pliers. It took me a bit to understand how installing snaps work because I've never done it before, but you do get the hang of it once you've done it a few times. 5
