    convenient way to keep edges sharpI have used the smaller and thinner DMT sharpeners that come on a plastic handle before. I wish now I had bought this 4 inch version then instead. even though it does not have a handle, the longer length, thickness and weight makes the motion of sharpening so much more fun and comfortable. Also the larger surface area speeds up the entire process.Overall this 4 inch knife sharpener is a great way to sit on the couch and quickly bring and edge back to your knife without having to get out all the oil and big stones in the workshop.5Five Stars Great little stone, I love it. I own several different sharpening stones and different types. This is well made and ideal for touching up an edge or finishing it off depending on how much time you want to put into sharpening your knives and how sharp you want them. I believe this is 600 grit. Some people like to go to 1000 plus to finish the edge on their knife. However I find that this grit does well and if you know hat your doing you can get a really sharp edge. Use this as the final step before stropping if you're looking for a really fine edge.5Diamond Sharpener (Coarse) I bought this sharpener to use in my KME Knife and Broadhead Sharpening System, and it works very well in that device. Metal does tend to build up in between the particles and requires washing. Oil is not needed. 4(Micro) diamonds are a sharp blade fanatic's best friendWhatever you're using to sharpen, if it isn't a micro diamond sharpener, preferably DMT's solid metal sharpeners like this one, you're making it harder than necessary. Buy this. Or you have more $ than me, but the larger one; less $ the smaller one. The bigger the better, but any are better than all other methods. No having to smooth out the stone, or spending a million bucks for possibly synthetic Japanese water stone. I like Arkansas stones, but they require oil--these don't. Seriously, just stop making extra work for yourself and get this stone and the other grits you need. I only use the three finest--plenty for my knives.5time will tellFirst stone I received lost all the diamond coatng after about 15minutes of light use and was worthless shortly thereafter. I decided to give it another shot and chose to exchange it it for another new stone instead. Second stone has held up through 10 sharpening sessions and is still coated with diamond dust. Its size also made it usable for a KME sharpening system.2Defective stone, wrecked a blade I tried to sharpenThis stone had several tiny bumps along the surface that badly scratched a blade I was trying to sharpen. To fix the blade I had to start over with a very coarse stone to remove the gouges left from this one. It took hours.I don't recommend buying this, but if you do, examine it VERY CAREFULLY before using it.1great.So far, very good. I am goi g to get the extra extra fine one now. This one put the sharpest edge on my esee izula its ever had. I took the hair off my arm dry and cleanly. I guess I wont need disposable Bics anymore. I hope the surface does not wear off.
