Customer Reviews

Could not be happierThis is the homeowner/consumer model of this nailer, and it is probably not adequate for professionals that use it all day long, 40 hours a day. The little black rubber rectangles on the side have fallen off, for example, and the case is not as solidly constructed as you might find on the 3-times-this-price professional version. That said, this is far and away better than the Craftsman model it replaced in my home. The nailer is precise, does not mar the finish of my work, and it would be very easy to clear a jam - if it ever jammed (which it won't) due to its clever construction. The finish work I have done with this tool (mostly crown moldings and finish trim work in my kitchen) has been much better than the work I was able to do with the Craftsman - requiring far less putty and caulk, fewer wood splits, and fewer incompletely-driven nails. As a hobbyist and experienced remodeler of my own homes, I have used my new nailer for 40-50 hours over a month or two and it's working great. I predict years of reliable service.5Fantastic I have had this nailer for about 1 year, and it has worked flawlessly. The built quality/fit & finish are very nice, and all the moving parts feel solid and of high quality. The weight and balance are also good; it is nice to pick up and handle. It is simple to load, simple to access in case of a jam (which I don't recall having any so far), and overall I have nothing bad to say about it. Dewalt tools are a mixed bag these days, but each item should be examined on its own merits rather than under a brand name umbrella, and this one is top notch in my book. 5Defective on ArrivalUnfortunately, the project I needed this for got sidelined for several months, and I missed the return window. The item that was shipped to me was/is defective. The trigger does not cause the fun to fire. I had to rig it with a small piece of wood as a shim to bridge the connection between the trigger and the firing mechanism. Could just be a defective unit, but definitely ensure you test it upon arrival. An unfortunate expensive error on my part.1Perfect! Wondering how I lived without this in my ... Perfect ! Wondering how I lived without this in my tool collection. Works great, no complaints. Nice case too. Used it for about 300 feet of quarter-round installation. 5Gun works great! It's a dewalt Gun works great! It's a dewalt. To the 1 star reviewer that said the pneumatic brad nailer did not say it needed compressed air. Look up the word pneumatic. It means by compressed air or gas. I don't think you should rate a product if you have not even used it !!! 5PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ONEJunk. Stopped working after 3 months of very light use. The piston ring cracked and the nailer head got stuck. When I pulled it apart, the piston sealer ring was cracked and broken. Many previous reviews said the nailer wouldn't retract, which is exactly what happened to mine. I will not pay to ship it to DeWalt for repair due to an obvious defect; and one which is obviously known to the manufacturer due the high number of similar complaints. It is unfortunate that DeWalt refuses to stand behind their claims of reliability and customer satisfaction. In the future, DeWalt will not be my first choice for tools, and I will think twice even if it's the only choice. When I tried to reach customer service, the first three times I was on hold for over 45 minutes before I hung up. The last time, I left my number to be called, "without loosing my place in line." I didn't receive a call back until almost two hours later.UPDATE: The second one of these just suffered the exact same fate as the other one I purchased within a month of each other. When I took it apart, I found the same damage as the first. I again contacted DeWalt, only to experience the same indifferent response. Will NOT be purchasing DeWalt again.1... lot of dewalt brand tools and they work as great most of the time and they are my preferred ...I own a lot of dewalt brand tools and they work as great most of the time and they are my preferred brand. This tool was no exception when I started using it. I like the overall function of this a lot better than my older bostitch one. The reason I'm giving this a 2 star is because the oring on the cylinder broke after 7 months in the middle of a project. I use this tool moderately and I expect a higher standard from dewalt's tools.2Great when it works. It is light weight and does a good job until it doesn't fire repeatedly and screws up my new molding. Have to unjam it or screw around with the brads which are installed correctly and are dewalt brads. Then it will work again until it screws up again. I already had a cheap brad nailer. I wanted one that wasn't going to screw up my molding. Wishful thinking on my part I guess. Had psi set to 100 which sunk them perfectly when it worked. Was looking forward to having a nice working tool. Wish this brad nailer fit that description.2Product is not durableI bought this product 7 months ago and only used it maybe 3 times. While nailing in some trim, the trigger quit resetting and will not work. I called Dewalt 1-800-433-9258 and they were initially helpful and said they would send me a mailing label to have it sent to a service center. After 30 minutes, no label. I saw that they called my cell phone and asked that I call them back because the representative forgot to ask for my home address. I have tried calling them back, for 30 minutes and each time, I am told the call can not be handled at this time. I even tried their chat line and have been waiting to connect for 25 minutes. The product did not hold up and their service is not much better.1It's yellow like a lemon for a reason...Bought this to face nail and tongue nail some end rows of bamboo where my 18 gauge flooring nailer would not fit, and to reinstall the baseboard moulding. Complete frustration is the best description. For reference, I tried DeWalt nails, GripRite nails, and Porter Cable nails, from 1 1/4 to 2".First issue: no matter how high I set the depth, the nails are sunk about 1/8 of an inch. That's running the minimum recommended psi of 70 and moderate tool pressure to keep the work tight before nailing. And that's if a nail actually comes out!Bringing me to second issue: many times when nailing, pull the trigger and pop, only to find a nice small hole in my work with no nail. Over and over.... VERY FRUSTRATING!!! When installing the baseboard using 2 inch nails, I would find the stud, shoot the nail, and find the baseboard not snug against the wall. Hmmm, must have missed the stub by a hair. Move to the right about a half inch, fire another, and baseboard still not snug. Darn, missed the stud again. Geez, what the heck... I used to be pretty good at this. Move the left of the first hole about a half inch, I know I'll hit the stud this time. Shoot a nail, baseboard still not attached. Arrgghh! Get down on the floor for a closer look and what do I find, three nice holes in my stained pine baseboard, and not a nail in sight. Check the nail magazine... Full strip inside, magazine was locked tightly, hmm. Close it up, fire another, yes this is the fourth hole. OMG... IT FINALLY SHOT A NAIL. YAY FOR ME! Seriously, you have got to be kidding me! Nothing like extra work having 4 holes to fill for 1 nail. I ordered a replacement so we'll see what happens with that one too.1Handle filled with airI love Dewalt products. But this nail gun failed the first time I used it and that was not until after the cut off Amazon placed on this product for returns. The handle of the nail gun filled with air and leaks.1Leaked air first use.I gave this nailer one star only for the excellent quick delivery. When I took the carry box out of the plastic sleeve I noticed the zip tie that Dewalt always puts on their boxes was missing. I hooked my air hose to the tool and immediately I could hear air escaping from the front part of the nailer. I went ahead and tried to see if it would shoot brads. Yes it shot them but it was losing so much air that my small compressor turned on after each brad I drove.I was not going to buy a Dewalt because they and the Bostitch brad nailers are identical, they even use the same model number. But since this nailer came with a much better warranty than others, I thought I would give it a try. My previous experience with Bostitch brad nailers are they don t last more than 2 or 3 years before they need to be rebuilt and it is more expensive to rebuild than to buy a new one. I have had two Bostitch 18 gauge staple nailers and this was my third brad nailer that prematurely failed. I have had excellent experience with other Dewalt power tools but I cannot recommend pneumatic brad or staplers from Dewalt or Bostitch.I am returning this nailer for my money back. I will purchase another brand.1DWFP12231 The brand new Nail Gun did NOT work. However, I received a phone call from a Big Box Overstock Customer Service Representative and within minutes she made arrangements to ship a replacement unit and provided a discount for my troubles. Couldn't have asked for better service and concern from a retail business. I will always check out their web site before buying any other similar product. Thanks "Big Box Overstock" Great Job !!! 5... read the reviews and purchased this unit as I like Dewalt productsI read the reviews and purchased this unit as I like Dewalt products. The first one stopped working after about 3 strips of brads. The trigger would not reset. Amazon did a great job in replacing the unit with another Dewalt. I received it and to my amazement it stopped working after about 3 brad strips With the SAME problem. Again Amazon is wonderful on returns as this is my second return in 6 years. I will be purchasing another brad nailer but it will NOT be a Dewalt.1
