    Great for the first 9 months I chose this mixer to replace my Hamilton Beach mixer which i had used for 12 years.This, indeed, has a strong motor, as other customers have mentioned (including an over-powerful "slow" setting, which was sometimes annoying). And i loved this mixer. However, after 9 months, one of the beaters started spinning off-rhythm, and about a week later, both the beaters were "off", and the motor was so week i could not even mix my buttercream icing (with softened butter). I used this for typical home use- mostly cake batter, frosting, cookie dough, and mashed potatoes- probably about once a week, on average. I was very disappointed coming from such a great name like Cuisinart.I was also disappointed that it did not come with the additional types of beaters (like my HB one- and that my old beaters did not fit this appliance).I did not think i would miss the "snap on box" that the HB had- to store the beaters and cord... but after using this one, i realized how helpful that actually was. 2Powerful mixer No slow start....that is a fantasy but I love everything else about this. It is powerful. Whips up beautifully. Very well balanced for my hands and .it replaces one I had for decades. 5For a hand mixer, you can't help but get excited about this unit! Gone are the days of our $7 mixers with flat blades that really don't work. Step up and get this bad boy! I don't like to buy utility items for my wife unless she picks it, but Consumer Reports said this thing rocks and it does! My wife said it mixed mashed potatoes like it was water, easier to move because of the power you don't have to drag it around the bowl and made fluffier results. Best money I ever spent. 5Gears stripped within 4 months of use I m so bummed to write this review. I ve had this mixer for only 4 months and used it for baking about 10-15 times. Yes, I was willing to look past the slowest speed was super fast, but I m super disappointed that my mixer stopped longer working in the middle of a 5 tiered cake we were baking. I had my husband take it apart to see why it was clinking, going slow, and making a horrible sound. Turns out the PLASTIC gears had been stripped. There s no way to fix it unless we can find that specific plastic gear. I thought that with the brand name like Cuisinart it would last me longer than 4 months worth of use. My no-name brand had lasted me 15 years! So disappointed. 1Works great. The beaters are easier to clean than the ... Works great. The beaters are easier to clean than the typical flat type. There is only one possible issue that may crop up down the road. The release lever for the beaters is plastic and not as robust as you would think. Time will tell how durable it is. I believe the unit is warranted for three years so if the lever is prone to breakage it should happen within that time. This is a classic example of not testing a product in a real world environment by real world users. This possible flaw would have been identified early on and fixed before going into production. I hope I am wrong about the testing and durability of the lever. 5speed Great speed but would prefer a lower starting speed so that when I am mixing baked goods with flour etc., it isn't blowing outside the bowl as I combine ingredients. I also find the handle to be a bit bulky, not sleek or designed with my hand in mind. Otherwise, great working hand-mixer though. 3The reason I am giving this Cuisinart 5-speed hand mixer ... The reason I am giving this Cuisinart 5-speed hand mixer a single star is because it really doesn't have a "stir" setting. On the lowest speed, the mixer is just too powerful! - Unfortunately I have missed my "return" window...so, I will just caution anyone looking to buy this, to beware of its forcefulness! 1More like a BEATER! This mixer is overly powerful. I've only used the LOWEST SETTING. Trying to mix a batch of cookies or a cake is disastrous. It throws batter everywhere. My husband found frosting in my hair! Even on the lowest setting, I can beat eggs whites! You definitely need an apron with this mixer and a strong arm to keep it in the bowl. Way too much power! 1No downside to this mixer I have had my old mixer for 10 years and it finally bit the dust. Everything is easier now and I use it several times a week. I read in previous reviews that the low speed wasn't really low, but maybe Cuisinart took heed because I have not experienced that problem. I have arthritis and was having difficulty ejecting the beaters from my old mixer problem solved with this one. This is my first product review on Amazon, and I order A LOT of stuff from Amazon, but this mixer deserved a big Kudo! 5Love this little hand mixer! This little mixer is great. I've made both cheesecake and banana bread with it so far with perfect results. It's very easy to clean and not much batter sticks to the beaters. I also love it's retro-like look and that the white color matches my kitchenaid stand mixer. 5
