Customer Reviews

For short people who have high shelves We use stools like this in the lab, and I knew I wanted one to reach the high shelves in my kitchen. Ordering from the scientific supplier was one option, but they are so expensive (over $200), so I took a chance and ordered this version on Amazon, expecting that it would not be quite as well-made as the lab version but would be good enough. Well, it is just as stable, just as easy to roll to a new place in the room, just as well-made. Assembly was easy but you may need a weightier friend to help if you are a light person. The first step locks it into place so that you don't roll around when you take the second step. It is a pretty safe way to use the higher shelves in your kitchen, shop or lab. 5I would buy something else... This stool worked well for about 6 months. We use it in our master closet to reach for high objects and to sit on while we put on socks/shoes. The wheel shafts that are supposed to retract when weight is applied seem to catch on the sides of the shaft guides. I have tried some silicone lubricant on the wheel shaft so it will slide easier but it doesn't help for long- it appears that these are just very cheaply made. Also, the rubber strip that contacts the floor to hold the stool in place slips off and I've had to pull it back on a couple of times. I'll continue to use it until I fall and break something, then I'll use the settlement money to buy a better solution. 1Short person assistant. At 4'9", I need one of these everywhere! This one is in my kitchen. It is easy to kick it around to where you need it, or if you're a normal sized human, kick it out of your way do you don't trip over it. Stays put when you stand on it so it feels very safe and sturdy. 5The best there is... This is the gold standard for a safe and convenient step stool.Every home and office should have at least one. Very sturdyyet not too heavy and is easy to move around on a hard floor.Doesn't roll easily on carpeting unless it's the dense, flat, commercial style or indoor/outdoor carpeting. Does not marfloors and when the slightest bit of weight is applied to eitherof the two levels of the stool, it locks down securely and willnot move. Everyone should think of safety in the home andnot balance on chairs or rickety step ladders when a boostis needed. Sturdily built and should last a lifetime.lastll 5Good product, but could be difficult to put together This is a good stool, seems very sturdy; however I had a great deal of trouble putting it together. It's not complicated, but I simply lacked the weight to push the top part onto the bottom; I ended up asking a friend of mine who is a bit heavier and she accomplished it with no problem. At 132 lbs I am hardly a featherweight, so it seems to me the product could have been designed to fit together a bit easier. 4A near perfect step stool. I own two In the world of great useful inventions, the cramer kik step ranks high. I've just purchased my second one. I bought the first one probably about 6 years ago and use it almost daily. It hasn't worn out, rusted, dented or become any less useful than it was the day I bought it. I decided that I needed one to keep downstairs as well. True, I could cart it up and down as needed but I need it in both places so frequently that it just seemed time to purchase another. And I got a great price on a "used" amazon warehouse deal. There is nothing at all used about the item I received. It is a clean and dent free beautiful silver stool that will fit in perfectly in my home based photo studio.Aside from being effortless to use and incredibly sturdy, this stool is also pretty darn good looking. I bought the copper color originally and it fits in really nicely in my copper, brown and rust kitchen. There is nothing ugly about this stool. Granted it wont fit in well with some decors, but not because it is unattractive. The folks at cramer saw a need to go beyond the library drab stool and infuse this with some great colors for home use.One last important point.... I am a shrinking 5' 7" (probably down to 5' 6" or less by now) and I can easily reach my 8' ceiling when standing on this stool. And I never feel even slightly unsteadly on it. Just roll it to wherever you need it and then when you step on it the thing anchors itself until you step off. I understand that if you weigh less than 30 pounds it wont anchor successfully but I am guessing that if you weigh less than 30 pounds you aren't doing the sort of home maintenance this thing was designed for.BOTTOM LINE: Best in class step stool. Incredibly well thought out and rock solid. Highly recommend 5Poor packaging impacts the usefulness of this product. Find one locally if possible. In theory, this is a great item. Unfortunately, I am on my third one, and I still don't have the awesome stool that I was hoping for. The first was ordered from Amazon. Once assembled, it did not roll very far until the one side started to drag on the floor. Upon inspection I noted that that the base wasn't perfectly round, having been damaged in shipping. I called Cramer, and their customer service was very helpful, and they offered to send a replacement right away, as well as a larger box so that I could return the assembled one that I now have. The delivery came quickly, and the condition of the boxed stool was laughable. Totally crushed on one side, as was the stool base inside. I did not bother to assemble this one, and called Cramer again. Same person apologized and said that this sometimes happens, but that they ship these things all the time, and she'd be happy to ship another, and that maybe this one could be double boxed. That one came today - same single box as the first two, and while it is the best of the three, it is still out of balance, and one side definitely hangs lower than the rest of it, affecting it's ability to scoot in anything but a right hand curve. So, this stool is a lovely idea. It appears to be made from quality materials, with sturdy springs and such. I have seen them in other places, and they are usually easy to use, and helpful to have around. The problem with receiving one through the mail is that they come in a simple cardboard box, which is not built to withstand the rigors of the delivery system of FedEx or UPS. I feel silly calling again to have yet ANOTHER one sent to me, but on the other hand, I spent fifty bucks on a stool so that it would be awesome. This is not awesome. This is just a wonky rolling stool. It's okay. 3These are the best step stools in my opinion Those of you who ever worked in a lab, this is the identical step stool that you use. Mine came packed in a heavy duty box, no dents here. I put mine together by placing the top flat on a carpeted floor, then carefully align the 6 pins with the holes on the bottom piece and push down near the area of each set of pins until they are partially through the hole, then go to the next set, then finally the last set. Then it can be pressed into place without damaging it. These things aren t meant to roll in a straight line, either. These are the best step stools in my opinion. 5Great for use in my kitchen, why did I wait so long? I remember these king of stools in the library when I was younger. I thought to myself, this would be much easier to use in the kitchen when I can't reach the upper shelves. I have been dragging around a wooden stool that gets in the way. It is now going to the trash. I had this rolling step stool in my watch list for over a year. I finally bought it and wonder why I waited so long. I keep it in my kitchen and if it is in my way, I can roll it away with the nudge from my foot. It is always handy when I need it and the perfect height for my upper shelves. I no longer dread taking things down or putting things away that are too high. I don't have to ask my tall husband to get things for me or drag out the stool. This is just so convenient. I am glad I finally made this purchase. It actually looks like with all my other stainless appliances too. 5Extremely useful and handy I bought two of them to keep in different parts of the house. They are just like the ones I remember in elementary school so long ago. They come packaged in two pieces, I inside the other, so installation includes aligning the posts to the holes and some banging. You can clearly see when any post is not fully seated. Easy. it really helps me when cleaning windows or fixing my drapes and the platform is big enough to move around a bit and turn. 5
