Looks like fine leather!I bought this to replace a similar ottoman which my teenage daughter accidentally destroyed over time with the heels of her shoes. I think that the top of it was "bonded" leather -- it started peeling off. A "real 100% good leather" ottoman would cost $300-$500 and I didn't want to spend that sort of money. So this time I went with faux leather (vinyl) and chose this one by Coaster Home Furnishings. I had low expectations, but this ottoman is great! It's very dark chocolate brown (think: wrapper of a Hershey Bar). It's solid and there is a hinge which keeps the lid open. The top is nicely padded. It's for a red fabric chair which has a real leather recliner next to it in dark brown. To tell you the truth, you can't tell that the recliner is real leather and the ottoman isn't. For the money, this is a great purchase. The inside is roomy and I keep blankets in it. Hopefully it will hold up in the future -- I will make my daughter use a blanket or something if she puts her feet up on it when she is wearing shoes with heels! 5loose threads everywhere and the top is crookedUpdate 4/3/17 - I liked the first one so much I ordered another, unfortunately it wasn't nearly as nice as the first. There we're numerous loose threads I had to cut and the top is completely crooked. It costs too much to have such a basic obvious flaw. The crooked top seems to be because a hinge was screwed in unlevel. I might be able to fix it, but it's very poor quality control to sell an obviously flawed product, because of that I'm dropping my rating to two stars. Update - 9 months later and it still looks like new, and I prop my feet up on it daily. Really impressed with how well its wearing.Original - It's not leather, but it really looks good for a vinyl leather look ottoman. I don't think anyone that sees it realizes that it's not real leather. A few months later and it's holding up nicely 2
