    Very Bright!! So far, I'm impressed. I just took it out of the package. It comes with genuine Duracell batteries already installed. I tried it in the package. It is bright!!! I put it on and walked around the back yard at night. I can see the entire yard!!! The angle of the light adjusts. From what I can tell, it's brighter than any other flashlight I have. 5great I really like how simple it is to operate simple on off. not a bunch of modes to scroll through just to turn it on and each red and white light having its own button is nice. Plenty of light output for campsite duty or in the garage. Long battery life is more important than crazy bright light for what I use it for and I'm happy with it 5Warning this is the HL4, not the HL44. Warning this is the HL4, not the HL44. They are very different lights. It is rated to put out less light than the HL44. And the beam pattern appears to be different.This would be a good price for an HL44, but less so for the HL4. I searched for the HL44, and this was one of the hits. I didn't realize the mistake until after purchase. It's now opened and too late to return. Grrr... 2The light is bright and that's been great. On a recent hike it suddenly stopped working. Then it started working again but would randomly turn off. Obviously this is not acceptable when you are hiking at night. 2Great for camping and astronomy I bought two of these for camping and astronomy use, and i'll probably buy a few more.They're plenty bright enough to set up your camp in the dark or for walks to the campground restrooms. The strap that goes over your head makes the headlamp super secure (no shifting around) and keeps the battery pack from dragging the headband down.One of my favorite features is that the switches for the white and red LEDs are on opposite sides of the front headlamp barrel.I use these headlamps when I'm out with my telescope, and separate switches means that I don't have to cycle though several white light settings before I get to the red LED (red light preserves night vision), and I never blind myself by accidentally hitting the white LED switch.The 3 AAA batteries you put in the battery pack will last a super long time, too. 5Great for a pilot. Could use dimmable lights Love this headset. I keep it in my fly bag, and throw it on before takeoff whenever I suspect my landing may be after sunset.I like the white and red separate lights and separate switches. That means you don't have to cycle through white to get to red for your night flying. White is great for preflight check tho, inspecting control surfaces and whatnot.My only complaint about this is that I wish I could dim down the red a little bit. It's red, but it's still very bright--bright enough to wreck your night vision for sure (although not as bad as when you accidentally switch on the white instead). 4hl4-145: Good stargazer's headlamp Specific to hl4-145, it has separate red and white light switch and no flashing mode. Red is still in the bright side for stargazers, but this separate control and no flashing mode make the headlamp perfect for stargazer's night out. 5Comfortable and goes on your head easily and quickly Comfortable and goes on your head easily and quickly. Best thing - one click switches (no cycling through useless modes of operation). Nice and bright, easy angle adjustment, easy on and off - what's not to like? I have two. 5The ultimate in tactical headlamps And I don't mean "tacti-cool." This is the right headlamp for the right price. I've never had a Coast product break, so I haven't tested out the warranty. Having a "red light" and "white light" button means you don't need to cycle through a selection of weird settings before getting to the desired one. By the way, when was the last time you used the blinker setting on every other headlamp ever sold? Never. If not never, you must not be trying to be, well, tactical.Anyways, it's a great option to fit on the ACH without breaking the bank. 5a year or so later... its a 5 star rating high quality product.head band is very tight and uncomfortable fit even at the looses adjustments. ( i have normal sized male head)4 additional plastic clips came with product to attach god knows what to the elastic band.3 AA batteries came installed so this unit is ready to go.worth the 15 bucks as its life time warranted and built well.light in narrow focused but bright. 5
