Good in theory, it falls a bit flat in use Well I did a major "Christmas in June" back in the summer of 2017, upgrading everything from my Xmas tree to ornaments and decorations, and storage was included in my shopping spree. I bought this to store all the new ornaments I bought, and when I first stored it over the summer, I was already feeling a bit down about this product... now that Christmas has come and gone, I have pinned down my thoughts on this storage box and here they are.It is functionally good, in regards to the fact that it does indeed safely store 64 ornaments of various types (from balls to most tree ornaments of average size). I was able to nearly completely fill this from top to bottom with a variety of bulbs and special ornaments. What I didn't like about this was two-fold:1) each "tray" of 16 spaces is just a criss-cross of cardboard dividers sitting on a cardboard "floor" held to said floor by gravity alone. Attempting to remove a tray also removes the "walls" of the outer spaces, so if something is in it, good luck it not falling out... speaking of removing a tray, this is also hard to do with items in the tray as the cardboard dividers are just sitting on the cardboard floor... its very difficult to remove them "as a tray" since nothing actually hold them together.2) because of the nature of the trays and the difficulty of actually removing a tray with anything still in it, accessing lower trays from a filled storage box is pretty much impossible without first completely removing every ornament from every tray sitting above the tray you want to get to. Since nothing holds a tray to its floor or prevents ornaments in the outer spaces from falling out once removed from the box, you really do need to remove every ornament from every tray to access the one beneath it. This in-turn holds true in reverse... that if you want to fill an empty box, you must fill every space in every tray from the bottom up one by one, or you're going to have issues.In conclusion, this Storage Box DOES do a good job of solving long-term storage for ornaments, assuming you don't mind filling each tray from bottom up after each Christmas and emptying each tray from top to bottom when you put up your ornaments next Christmas. Previewing what's on lower trays is impossible with any tray above having ornaments in it... if this is not a problem for you, this is a great option... if these things I described would bother you, I suggest looking elsewhere.As for me, I'm already retiring this storage device after one Christmas... I like to look at all my ornaments as I decorate my tree, and if they're all in this box, that's impossible to do. I found some plastic Snapware Snap 'N Stack Square 3-Tier Seasonal Ornament Storage Container, 13 by 13-Inch that take-up the same dimensional space as this reviewed storage container (48 larger bins I can look at and access all at once vs 64 smaller bins that I can only access one tray at a time in the same space) that I much prefer over this storage device, as I'm able to look at and access each tray separately unlike this one. I hope this review helped... if "one tray up or down" at a time doesn't bother you, this is a good option... but if you want to move trays about and look at lower ones without emptying top ones first, this won't do. 3Missing inserts Missing 2 inserts. So the rest can just bang against each other and get broken. I bought another before this one even arrived. We shall see how that goes. I have another review to do. 1Would Buy Again I am very pleased with this purchase (especially as it is half the price of similar items). It is designed to hold 64 glass ball ornaments in four sturdy layers. I was able to store close to 100 ornaments by combining smaller ones into the same cubbies. If you have odd shaped ornaments you could also leave out a divider or two to accommodate them.I can't believe how much tissue and boxes I threw away by combining my ornaments into this one box. Excellent! 5I don't know that I would trust anyone handling this box when it's full of my favorite collection of old world ornaments but as long as ... Fits a lot of ornaments. It's sides are soft and the inserts are just hard cardboard. It fit a lot of my ornaments. I went from a large Rubbermaid container down to this so now I get to buy more Christmas decor to fill that Rubbermaid container back up. Winning. 4Sturdy and Holds A Ton of Ornaments This storage container is perfect to hold my Christmas ornaments. The original boxes were clunky and falling apart in storage and these boxes are a huge space saver because it holds so many ornaments. I still keep some ornaments in their original boxes (ones that are larger or extremely fragile), but this box is sturdy and seems it will provide just the amount of protection I need to keep the balls safe throughout the year and when pulling out decorations every year. I wouldn't advise putting too much weight on them, but it should do the trick long-term. I also like the little insert in front where you can write what is stored in the boxes so I can label which ornaments are stored in which box. This was very easy to assemble and the only thing I may change would be to include an additional top layer of protection. Overall a good value for the product. 4Flexible storage I am about halfway done taking down my Christmas tree. I ve found my new ornament storage box to be flexible for different sizes of ornaments and easy to assemble layer by layer as I want to add more into the box. If I had more ornaments I would buy this storage box again. 4One of the best storage purchases I've ever made! I'd never seen this type of ornament storage. At first, I thought it would be a waste of money. A gimmick. NOPE! I love these!We don't have a basement, garage or attic, so everything is stored in our shed. Every Christmas season my husband lugs the huge Rubbermaid storage chest full of decorations, ornaments, etc. up a flight of stairs and it seems it gets heavier each season. While ornaments themselves are not heavy, the storage chest itself is a mess of multiple sized boxes filled with ornaments and other decorations. I consolidate what I can in different boxes but it's not at all organized.These cubes are wonderful. Because nothing is permanent (they are meant to be taken apart when not in use and stored flat) you have the flexibility to make the sections bigger if needed. This enabled me to store ALL my ornaments, even the oddly shaped or oversized, in the same place. I ended up with several of the dividers unused but I just tucked them in to the top. I was even able to store small standalone decorations (not ornaments) and the Christmas stockings. I now can store all of these items up on a shelf in my laundry room, instead of jamming them into that Rubbermaid chest.These are fabric, so they are very lightweight, even when full. The handles appear to be sewn on securely. The zipper closure was smooth.Yes, the huge storage chest is still heavy, but by removing all the odd sized boxes, we were able to maximize it's storage space and store the outdoor decorations (bought just this year) in the storage chest. The box the outdoor decorations came in went in the recycling bin, which helped save space in our shed.If your space is limited or your tired of re-wrapping/re-boxing multiple ornaments every year, I highly recommend this product. 5Good ornament/knick knack storage solution to save space I stumbled across this when I was looking for ornaments. I was so happy with it that I bought four more. (A few more for ornaments and other smaller knick knacks.The storage container is fairly good quality. While the cardboard inserts aren't the best quality, but it's good enough as this is a container at a lower price point. I like that it has a zipper for extra protection. I looked at the other brands to hopefully diversify the color of the container, but most of the other options in the same price points don't have zippers to firmly secure the top.The way you set it up is that you, assemble each layer like puzzle pieces. This does mean that when you want to remove an ornament from the bottom row, the entire containers individual rows will need to be dissembled. If you have a problem with that idea, I know there are options that act more like removable shelves.I'm not sure at this point how much protection it will give the ornaments. To be safe, I still wrapped the ornaments individually in tissue paper or bubble wrap before putting them in the cubbies. And we still plan to store the ornament storage container in a tote. Its main draw is that it allowed us to scrap a dozen or so smaller containers. Which allowed us to get rid of a few of our Christmas totes. 5Great I am really amazed how many ornaments fit into these. I have a 14 ft high tree and tons of ornaments. They exactly fit into two of these. Great purchase. 5NOT DURABLE! Only works with VERY light items. Only use this if you're storing VERY light items. It's easy to use and has great storage capacity but is constructed of the flimsiest materials known to man. I attached a picture of what happened when I tried to pick this up once filled, the handle ripped right off! 2
