Very sturdy toolI will be using this tool for punching small holes in jewelry that I make. I was pleasantly surprised at the sturdiness of the tool . It punches holes very easily and smoothly with no burrs. A little heavy but manageable . I usually use 20 guage copper and I made some holes using two layers of metal together and it worked fine. I would have liked the instructions to be a little more clear, ( there wasn't very much at all for instructions ). I had to just kind of figure it out myself. Also, it is a little difficult to make a hole in a very precise spot due to visibility but I think I will get better with that and making sure it is done in very good lighting will help. I would have liked a punch and die one more size smaller than the smallest one provided, but overall, this is a very good tool and I'm sure I will use it for many years. 5Better Than DrillingOverall:The punch is amazing when punching steel that is 18 gauge or thinner, beats drilling. The tool appears to be heavy duty by the weight and construction of the tool. Definitely would recommend this for thinner steel.Details:When punching through 18 gauge black steel the tool works well however when punching through 16 gauge it does not work at all and just dimples the steel no matter how hard you squeeze.Found it difficult to align the punch exactly on my marked point on the steel.The hole is clean after the punch, very little deburring is required if at all. 4Four StarsLove this punch. It's been great for all my jewelry making and is fairly easy to use. 4Great product for punching holes in sheet metal.A little clunky at first, but once I figured out how to change the bits, it cuts very nicely. I tested it on a 22 gauge sheet of copper just to try it out, and I'm very excited to use it for my projects. It cut very nicely, left no burrs, and then I also have the little dot of copper I can use for something else. So you could use this to make holes, but also to cut small circles for things. (I thought that was a nice bonus). There are 7 sizes of holes you can make. 5Love it!So in love with my new toy. I use it for a metal punch. 24-26 gauge. I m just bummed I waited so long to get it. I'm using it to punch out some old metal rivets and buttons and it works like a charm with almost no effort. Prior to this I was using a drill to remove the buttons and rivets taking about 2 minutes each with a chance of damaging the item. Now it takes about 20 seconds and it's out with no hassles.
