Customer Reviews

Quality control failAbsolute garbage. I bought two, and both leaked at the tank connections. I couldn't seem to get them tight enough to the tank to seal them. I even used channel-lock pliers to snug them. I would recheck for leaks after tightening with soap water. I'd tighten a little more, then recheck with the soapy water. On one connector, I literally broke the plastic knob trying to get it tight enough to stop leaking. 1HOSES CRACKED AND LEAKING AFTER ONLY 2 YEARSBE VERY CAREFUL WITH THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have a 1 year warranty. These should safely last for years. The previous ones on this RV trailer lasted 25 years. After 2 years, a pair of new 12" hoses are badly cracked, AND LEAKING PROPANE THROUGH THE CRACKS. This RV is in the mountains of Colorado, lots of sun, but the tanks and hoses were covered with the protective cowling, so UV breakdown was not a factor. High temps in the summer are in the 80's, & winter lows usually in the teens. I contacted the Camco company by phone, but they were not helpful , as they are 'out of warranty'............... I offered to send the pigtails to them to study.................they were not interested. This is dangerous situation. Monitor your hoses for cracks. Maybe look for other brands of hoses............. 1Terrible leaksI wouldn't buy this item. I purchased two of these. The first one leaked right out of the package at the manufacturers crimped seam where it screws into the regulator. The second hose has a malfunction in the back flow valve which allows propane to leak into the air once you disconnect it from your tank. Perhaps it's not a malfunction and it's by design but my last pigtail didn't leak so I'm assuming this is a malfunction. I have this hooked up to my RV and the moment I disconnect the tank, the remaining propane in the RV lines drain into the air. This is a safety hazard as the leaking propane could potentially ignite if my battery were to spark. Which is likely for me as I usually disconnect the propane first then disconnect my battery. I now have to wait about 2 minutes for my propane lines to drain prior to disconnecting my battery to avoid a possible explosion. Additionally, the leak means when I switch tanks, I now need to purge my lines in order to get propane back to every appliance. Unfortunately, I didn't find this out until I took my trailer out more than 30 days after this purchase. Waste of money 1Size does matter!Be aware there are two fitting sizes, the 1/4 Male flare and the 1/4" Male NPT even though they sound the same size they are not! My advice is to thoroughly understand the difference and know which one you need. The announcer in the video was exactly opposite of what I needed. Just because you have the changeover regulator does NOT mean you need the Flare size. In my case it was just the opposite. The Flare is much smaller than the NPT size. the NPT is ABOUT 1/2" in OUTSIDE DIAMETER. That's how you might be able to differentiate which one you need.Great product, but the video and sizing is misleading. I'm trying to determine the model number of the 12" pigtail with the 1/4 Male NPT fitting. If I find it I'll update this post with it. If anyone know this model number please provide it.Good luck 4Not correct size (Different thread standards?)My trailer is a 2009 and has NTP (National Pipe Tapered) threads going into it's propane regulator. These pigtails have Inverted Flare threads. If you have an older regulator, you could use them IF you 1. Buy an adapter for each one (another $10 - $20 bucks) or 2. Buy a newer regulator ($30-$50 bucks).I imagine buying a new regulator might be a good option if you believe yours is faulty or leaking (I'm not a professional), or if you simply want peice of mind having a new one; these would work, however...Further reading reviews on this particular brand, the hoses crack very early in their life (just outside the warranty of one year). Either case, I would buy another brand.CAMCO is good for most other items to save some money. My recommendation; spend the little more money on things that are safety related (such as LPG). I will be buying a different brand. 2Missing the green acme connector nutI purchased two and they did not come with the green acme nut that connects to the cylinder. The pictures show the hose with the green nut and they show the package with the hose and the green acme nut. The video shows the hose with the nut attached. I am not sure if these are defective with missing parts or if they were supposed to come this way. Either way I wanted them for this weekend and since this is thursday 8/17 that is not going to happen. I am very disappointed. 1Do Not Buy - Chinese rubber lasts less than a year.Despite all the glowing reviews on this product I've had it and used for approximately 11 months. The rubber is already cracking on the hose itself whereas my much older hose is fine. I keep my rig garaged when not in use. Do not buy, the rubber hose lasted less than a year for me and I had to through out! Hope this helps someone else from wasting money on this product as I did. 1Wrong size connector who knew? The 1/4" connector end that goes to the gas line doesn t fit the connection on my RV. They should have stated that there are more than one 1/4 size. This is the 1/4 male flare the other one is the 1/4 NPT I guess I need the NPT. If they know this why don t they include both connectors in the package? Then I watched the video from Camco and their explanation of the connectors were the exact opposite of my connectors. 1These crack after 1.5 yearsI just switched to steel braided hoses. I have bought so many of these hoses and they crack badly after a short time. I use these on a RV in the desert southwest. They are always covered from UV, but they do have a 90 degree bend in them to connect to my 2 30lb tanks. It may be because of the stress of the bend. I have never had one leak from these cracks, but it makes me nervous. So no more. 2OLDER RV OWNERS - buy the propane adapter to fit 1/4 hoseHeads up !Newer RV owners need not worry, this hose will fit perfectly....butIi you have an older RV like myself 2008 model, odds are high you have a 3/8 propane hose fitting. Hoses now are 1/4" and you need to buy the adapter. I have two tank set up and needed to buy two adaptersI'll list the link so you can see what it is but the price is excessive,. I bought the 3/8 male - 1/4 female fitting at my local RV store .89 cents each.https://www.amazon.com/Paradise-Harbor-Propane-Connector-Natural/dp/B0768L7JQH/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1527727854&sr=8-6&keywords=rv+propane+hose+adapter+3%2F8+malePlumbers pipe dope on threads, then pour soapy water around fittings to test for leaks.Amazon selling Camco pigtails HALF the price of a retail store but the RV propane adapter offered is ridiculously over priced.Picture shows new hose is much smaller, you need the adapter in picture for older RV's 5
