Don't bother buying these pansI purchased these pans in April, 2018. I am the only one who uses them, and by the end of June, the one pan I use the most was useless as a non stick pan. Oh, I do all the right things - rubber spatula, medium temps only, hand wash after the pan is cool using the non-scratch pads. I hang it on a rack not in contact with any other pan. I use butter and/or EVOO for all my sauteing. I've thought about returning it under warranty, but frankly believe that I'll spend the time and money to do so, and they will decide it is my fault and refuse to honor the warrant. Can someone prove me wrong out there? Anyone have a positive experience returning a pan to Calphalon? 1Is it safe to use ?I bought this set on Thanksgiving night, $10 less than usual. After it arrived,I opened the box, I was so surprised to see that the interior of the bigger one was not quite smooth, there are some little black dots on the surface. And it is the soft coating material! It's like the almost dried paint and I could easily get it off with my finger nail. No wonder some users mentioned that the coating comes off. Beside, the handle is too long for my arm. Very disappointed in a quality product - We also purchased the The Premier Space-Saving 10 piece set. I hope this set doesn t show performance like this as well. 1High quality and worth the $$.Its a very high quality pan and lid. I have other Calphalon cookware that I've had for years with no signs of wear, so I expect it will last forever - it better for the price. I use it every single day for making eggs. The handle is kinda short, but given how small the pan, you don't need a bigger one. Also, the handle does not get hot at all even though its metal.My only complaint: The lid forms a very tight seal, which is good, but you get a lot of condensation inside when cooking and the water drips off of the lid onto the food. With some foods that's ok, but with others you have to wipe of the lid every minute or so. It could really use a small hole/vent in the lid. 4Serious flaw in the coverThe pan works fine but there is a serious design flaw in the cover. There is an air space between the glass and metal ring of the cover so the fluid (oil, water, whatever) that you cook with gets trapped in the space and stays there. I can't imagine that this would be sanitary as bacteria may get in there as well and find a nice "soup" to grow in. I called Calphalon and they were kind enough to send me a replacement cover but the new cover had the same problem after just one use. Not sure what to do as I only ordered this product because the cover on my old one (not Calphalon) broke. 2Top NotchI purchased this pan for my husband for Christmas 2017. We LOVE it! Heavy weight, nice handles, flat bottom and the coating is superb. This is important to me because he cooks, I clean! Highly recommend this pan to others.I am not a paid reviewer. I purchase merchandise from Amazon on a weekly basis. I wait until I have used the product to form an honest opinion of it before posting a review. I will answer questions unless I feel the seller should respond. 5CALPHALON WE HAVE A PROBLEM HEREI can only give this product 2 stars. First off, just two weeks ago I purchased a set at $37.46 here on Amazon. Second, we had to send it back because the handle on the larger pan was riveted on on an angle so off level that it was almost comic. So we had to send it back for a replacement. The replacement came with a 1/8 inch chip of the non-stick coating missing from the cooking surface. So we had to box that set up as well and take it over to the UPS Store ... Kind of a hassle. We learned something when we inspected the chip missing on the non stick surface, that is - that the nonstick surface is remarkably thin. We asked the folks at Amazon if these (then $37.46) sets were factory seconds with imperfections, they said there was nothing written that they saw that would suggest that they were. So we await our 3rd set, what are the odds that they can send us three defective sets in a row? 2Not the old Calphelon!The whole point of thick bottomed pans is that heat is equally distributed everywhere the pan physically contacts the flame (or heating element). The problem with these is that after a month or so of use, The bottom is now warped with the center being the highest point with the edge areas receiving less heat. Useless! The old calphelons I owned years ago were significanty better! Look elsewhere! 1Bad customer servicethe pans arrived on time. they are heavy and well made. But after about 6 month no more non stick. I email company and no one got back to me. 1Good replacementsWe received a full set about 6 years ago for our wedding. After years of use and cleaning it was finally time to replace the 10 and 12 pans. These are exact replacements for 1390 and 1392. They looked like how our pans looked 6 years ago. They are well made but they don t last forever. 5
