    Functional, but not the better quality versionThis is a simple cable tester, and nothing more. While you see two rows for testing connectivity, the second row only lights up for cable testing when both ends are plugged into the unit. The remote sensor works, but does not relay information to the primary unit. Effectively you must be in two places at once to test. If you need the exercise, this is your machine. Otherwise, it is of little functional use.To use it, you'd have to put the primary unit on the end you need tested, set it on AUTO, and take the remote unit to the other end of the wires and plug it in. On auto, it scrolls from 1-8, and as long as it does so in order, you're good. There are no functional GREEN light indicators on either unit for tests using the remote. The green lights only work for a cable looped to both plugs on the primary.The instructions indicate there is a better version of this box, that does the trick of working with a remote unit. But I am not able to find it anywhere (including the manufacturers website). 1Could be betterWorks just like every other one does, pretty good. It is an important tool to have , I just wish it would read the problems on both the transmitter and the receiver. It would be important if you're working alone. 3Good solid unitI've had one of these in my toolbag for years. It's a good, dependable unit, though maybe a little pricier than others that do the same thing. Can test phone and Ethernet cables along with BNC Coax. I don't understand what the bad review here is all about: this cable tester works no differently than any other basic cable tester with a remote. 4Happy. Worked for what we needed.Happy.
