Customer Reviews

Fine for light dutyI bought this jacket as my first welding jacket. I wish you could give half stars, because 3 stars is a bit low but 4 stars is definitely too high. In reality I give it 3.5 stars.GOOD POINTS: It is reletively cool and breezy compared to some protective gear. It is CHEAP. It has a coating that makes it more burn and heat resistant than a thick cotton or denim shirt. And five stars for style, It looks great! Overall it is not a bad value for the rock bottom price.BAD POINTS: If you weld for a few hours UV rays will still get through and give your skin that "prickly" sensation that lets you know you've been bombarded, just the same as if you were just wearing denim. If you're fair skinned, you may be a little red.It is not great for use around heavy sparks. I was grinding a piece of metal and was shocked to see my coat had completely burned through at a spot, but for all I know this may be true of the more expensive fabric jackets sold by larger companies like Miller. I don't have another jacket to compare it to in this regard. The fabric is somewhat poor at tear resistance. That spot that got burned through, when I pulled on the coat to undo the snaps, there was a loud ripping noise and the jacket now has a HUGE gash in it that I will have to sew up and patch with denim or leather. It is okay for a welding student on a budget, but you might be better off with a thick cotton/denim shirt and a cheap set of leather sleeves and apron, or just going ahead and buying a more expensive full leather jacket.3So far so good. No burn through yet.Right fit, I m old so getting lager belts as well as shirts. Tig welding, plasma cutting, stick, and grinding, get a lot of holes. So far, not a one. Jacket so far so good. Will by more. Cool in hot shop.5works welli went with the medium as that is my average shirt size and when i got it i thought hmm those sleeves are short but everything else fits perfectly. once i tried on my gloves with this and started grind some metal i quickly remembered i usually roll up my long sleeves to keep them out of the way when working so after i realized they were meant to be like that i decided i really like it. nice quality, heavyduty and yet light weight. Not to uncomfortable in the summer yet warm enough in the winter. very comfortable overall. with all the sparks and molten metal i have thrown at it i have not had any holes. I have used it for smaw/stick, gmaw/mig/mag, gtaw/tig welding and haven't been burned yet. Even when grinding i bearly feel the warmth from the sparks, and it even does a decent job protecting against flying wires from a wire wheel, i have only had 2 wires actually penetrate into the skin. After 1 hand wash it shrunk slightly but still feels like new. Ive had it for 6 months welding almost everyday and very little signs of wear. i will buy this again once this one wears out.5I have a 2x from before that is burned up so I wanted another because I think it lasted pretty long, and is light weight enough to be ...Be careful to order right size. I bought a medium by mistake, I have a 2x from before that is burned up so I wanted another because I think it lasted pretty long, and is light weight enough to be comfortable . This jacket along with some leather sleeves goes a long way. Just make sure you pick the right size.4great affordable lightweight welding jacketi bought this for a welding class and it is holding up really well, it provides good protection from UV and metal sparks but every now and then when doing GMAW or FCAW you get a spark hot enough to go straight through material. overall it is a good welding jacket that is a lightweight and comfortable that offers pockets on the inside of the jacket and also the arms, the solid red flames on the arms are a bit loud for me but they aren't that bad. Overall I am very pleased with the quality considering the price of the product but if your a welder professionally this jacket would probably not hold up to everyday abuse.4Works great for my purposes for wood turningWas looking at this jacket for a while. Seen someone else order it for wood turning so took the chance and glad I did. The long sleeves and neck collar do it s job to keep wood chips from getting on me and in my cloths. Good quality snaps and fabric, plus it fits me great. I ordered the medium. I m 5 8 at 165lbs. I ll order this jacket again if I need one. Been using It know for a few weeks and no problems, very happy.5A thick shirt, not jacketI give it three stars bc although it is a nice shirt, I would in no way call this a jacket. It is a heavy thick shirt, much like denim, with no extra lining for protection. It wasn t what I expected at all. If you are looking for a shirt to go over your thinner short sleeved clothes for light welding, and this may be okay. I wanted it for some foundry use and Cant imagine this provides any heat protection, like a jacket would.3Good overall jacketWorks fine im currently in highschool taking a welding course we weld pretty much everyday for 1.5 hours. So far ive only used this with SMAW and its holding up as expected. Only complaint is that its kind itchy on the sleeves. Will make an update when i start to weld with MIGUpdate: Ive welded in all positions in stick, it holds up started with mig the other day again its perfect. Every now and then big sparks will land in crevice of elbow and feel a slight slight burn like someone pulling your arm hair but its better than burns without it. As to the other guy who got burned by slag i dont think any jacket will protect you againts that unless its made out of leather...this is meant for up to meduim duty.5Good all around shop jacket but a little light for heavy weldingGreat for the price but not really suitable for heavy welding.I use it for mechanical work and light welding. The material is basically heavy denim so it will burn with direct contact to molten metal, but definitely keeps the sparks off.The fit is really nice. I just followed the size chart and it looks great on me. Very professional considering it has flames down the arms.I would like to see this same jacket sold as a mechanics jacket with rear side pockets and a breast pocket4Good for woodturningSeals up well, nothing loose, comfortableHas lasted for a year, cheaper than a turning smock.5
