Customer Reviews

Perfect addition to my Biolite gear!!!Another great product by Biolite. I love that my campstove fits snugly inside the KettlePot and saves space in my Backpack. I think this is an awesome system. The KettlePot holds up to 1.5 liters or just over 6 cups of water. It has markings on the inside for liters and cups which make it easy for measuring. The lid with pour spout make it easy to pour into a cup or meal packet. The KettlePot works well if your getting your water from a untrusted source like a stream or pond. You can boil a full pot, put two cups into your meal packet and, have four cups for drinking with your meal. After it cools of course, unless your making hot chocolate :). The KettlePot comes with a cup inside that you can use for drinking or preparing meals in. The KettlePot sits nicely on top of the campstove but make sure your stove is on a stable surface and somewhat level. I like the open ports on the bottom of the pot. This allows you to see the flame inside your campstove. You can add small sticks through the holes or remove the pot to add more if you see the flames getting low. Be careful when placing the kettlePot on your campstove though. Make sure these holes are not right over your battery pack on your campstove because flames do come out of the holes. I heated a full 1.5 liters in my KettlePot to see how long it would take. I used wood pellets because they seem to burn hotter. I started with my campstove just under half full of pellets. I used a cotton ball with a little Vaseline on it to get the fire going. I started with the fan speed on the lowest setting and once the pellets were glowing and still had flame, I slowly added another handful of pellets and put the KettlePot on top of the stove turning the fan to high. Be careful not to add pellets too quickly and smothering it putting out the flame. I did this once during the process and it smoked like crazy and I lost over half the heat. I used a piece of paper to get the flame going again. I kept my fan speed on high and tried to keep the temperature at max the whole time. I added a handful of pellets 5 times during the heating process. I timed it and it took me just over 20 minutes from the time I put the KettlePot on my stove for the water to reach a rolling boil. I am sure I could have done it sooner if I had not put out the fire when I added pellets that one time. Oh well, live and learn. Overall I really like this KettlePot and feel it is a great addition to my Biolite gear. 5Nothing Better Than Biolite Energy ProductsIf you love the outdoors then Biolite Energy is the last word and product manufacturer needed! I have Biolite everything and will continue supporting this company any way possible. This pot is amazing to boil water, cook soups, and more in when camping or hiking. This pot pairs perfectly with the Biolite camp stove and coffee press they make. 5This Kettle should be in the hall of fame.Amazing. I love Biolite products. We use them backwoods camping, We backpack or Canoe with them. The Kettle works awesome. Is does take some getting used to have to run the flame, and it's not a thing you walk away from. But I would rather carry this and not have to worry about fuel then carry Fuel and have to worry about not having hot water or the ability to cook when it rus out. I'm saving now for a few sets of their lights, Excellent products. The kettle is huge you can cook food in it, and the lid was easy on easy off. The Handle never got hot. 5Kettle? Pot? it's both... and silver in this case. Not sure what to say here. It's a kettle, it's a pot. It works perfectly on my Biolite stove. Contains a plastic bowl. Arrived in perfect condition, with a bag for containing it.The biolite stove sits neatly inside. The heat resistant lid will reduce your boiling times (particularly at altitude where vapor pressure is reduced. While bulky, and heavy, the units together should allow some decent use for places where you can't get fuel other than small firewood. The handles appear to be covered in insulative silicone. The lid fits tightly, it may require some effort getting ti on and off the first few attempts. The base interface attaches neatly to the biolite stove, and should be fairly efficient at heat use. Will try it this weekend. 5For emergency use: BioLite stove, Kettlepot, and pellets. The BioLite stove fits inside this Kettlepot just perfectly; and this is then packed in my car emergency tote for the winter. It shows fine workmanship, and with the convenient small bags of hardwood pellets, I can store two of them in the same emergency tote so the first few fires can use them, rather then having to find sticks. It all works together and gives me the confidence about being able to have an emergency fire if necessary. 5Great item, well worth the money!Wonderful pot. Fits well atop the stove. From "light the fire" to "boiling water" is less than ten minutes! It hardly takes any more room than the stove since they nest. This whole system is great! After fixing my dinner I simply put longer twigs in the stove with high fan and viola, my own personal campfire. 5Great product, works as advertisedThis kettle works very well with the biolite stove. The stove nests easily inside the kettle for storage and portability. I couldn't believe how fast we were able to boil water using this kettle over the biolite stove. The product is well made, it seems sturdy, and has great decision decisions while also being very simple and easy to use. I intend to give this kettle and the biolite stove as gifts considering how well they work. 5Another winner from BioliteAnother winner from Biolite. Allowed me to keep pots and coffee maker at home when camping, and was able to use all the sticks and twigs in our campsite to cook soup, chili, boil water and make coffee using my own percolator-style insert. The holes in the bottom are larger than they appear. You can use sticks up to about 3/4" in diameter, to keep a good fire going. This was my fear, but it was easy enough to keep a fire and keep cooking. Also, it was fun to sit next to it, feeding the fire while stirring and cooking dinner. Very happy with it, looking forward to using it more. 4It's good, it's just not fully realized.I bought this because I was super impressed with the biolite stove (purchased from EMS) and thought a nesting pot would be just the ticket. Sort of similar to the JetBoil products, the stove will nest the biolite stove. For what it does, it works well. The stove nests into the pot, the lid goes on, and away you go. There's enough space in there to fit some small firestartersThe instructions want you to put some food safe oil around the silicone seal. I did that, but I full well understand that the oil is eventually going to turn and get gross. That sort of feels like a not great solution. I could store it dry, however. The second bit of nagging is the stove's metal probe goes out the spigot. First day this is fine, succeeding days, this isn't so hot. If you burn resinous woods in the stove, such a pine, the soot can get into the spigot and make everything a bit piney. It's not bad, just be aware you might have to wipe it out. You're going to be dirty anyway, it's fine. The stability is fine, even in the dark with a few beers, I wasn't able to pour my soup all over myself. Here's where my disappointment starts. Boiling the same amount of water, it does boil about two minutes faster (10 minutes vs 8 minutes) over my standard cheap pan I normally take. This isn't a scientific test with standardized wood samples and such, it's just me feeding it sticks per the usual. Also if you use the flexible metal ring they ship with the biolite, you have to somehow get it off to get the kettle on. Mine is too tight to put the kettle on after using it to support a pan. If you attempt to pry it off while it's hot, it will go into the woods, never to be seen again. Ask me how I know. Finally if you know about the jetboil "fins" on the bottom of the cup, those are absent. I actually expected this to have a cool heat catching design to improve the thermal efficiency of burning the wood given how well engineered the biolite stove is, but it's just a flat metal face under the kettle. Also see those holes? They just let the fire and heat out, but there's no way to shove sticks in. It's just not big enough. If you want this to make it easier to feed the stove without removing your meal, those holes don't help.Do I like it? Yes. Does it compare to the JetBoil stuff which is only a few bucks more when it's on sale? I think I'd rather buy the jetboil cup to throw on top of the biolite stove. 3nice a bigi like that this is the right size to boil water for a morning family breakfast brew!ever so slightly wobbly on the biolite stove (and any other stove) so you do need to make sure you've got it line up right. The metal also tarnishes quickly and changes color so it's not going to look like new for long.Nice carry case and the biolight stove in it's case also fits well inside. 5
