Customer Reviews

Almost wood with plastic hingeI was looking for wood toilet seats that had some kind of protection for the screws that attach the seat to the toilet. Our old ones had rusted in place and we had to saw through the screws. This has plastic screws and covers to hide them. The problem: the seat is a bit over polished and does not feel like the old oak ones we had. Plus the hinge and cover for the screws is straight plastic. Our old ones were brass and looked way better until they became impossible to polish (or remove!). Nevertheless, these look better than white ones would. They look like wood except for the attachment and they fit the toilet.4A Throne Fit For a King Just look at the photos. It's a throne fit for a king or queen.I was pleasantly surprised with just how sturdy this seat is. It was easy to install & looks just great in my bathroom. It gives the whole room a warm feeling. 5Works Better than More Expensive Seats. There are some negatives the description, which reads "Solid wood construction with laminated Natural wood" is NOT correct. This seat is laminate over MDF. Also the plastic hinge doesn't look as nice as the old-fashioned looking brass hinge on the Comfort Seats brand solid oak seat it replaced. HOWEVER that brass hinge broke and the replacement I installed loosened so that the seat wasn't secure. This seat looks almost as good as the real oak seat I had before and the plastic hinge is a different design that should work to keep the seat centered. 5Was very pretty, but cracked quickly. :(The seat was beautiful. My husband and I were very happy with it. - Until it cracked across the underside of the seat less than a month after receiving it. We kept using it, hoping nothing more would happen. Then it cracked in another spot a couple weeks later. It is now just waiting for its full demise. It is just past the return time, so we're stuck with broken wood. Neither my husband or I weigh more than 215#, and we were the only ones who used it, just normal use. My husband had even linseed oiled it before use, which protects it from cracking, because of some of the reviews on here. So sad. It was a pretty and comfortable seat.1My previous seat of this brand of this same seat lasted 5 years and was really nice with proper bronze strait forward fastenersThis toilet seat is ok. This brand changed their mounting system to a plastic nut and bolt with a square hinge that sort of snugs everything up. It is really an odd and cheap fastening system. My previous seat of this brand of this same seat lasted 5 years and was really nice with proper bronze strait forward fasteners was way better. I can tell this seat wont go more than 2-3 years as the fasteners are not up to the task.2Comfortable and attractive, inexpensive. Durability to be determined.Item is as it appears. The plastic fittings flex so much that I fear they won't last, but I've only had it a few weeks and they are adequate so far. The finish on the bamboo is smooth and washes off easily. Nice appearance, good change from plain white that it replaced. Overall durability is to be determined.4Hinges are plastic with a metal coverThis is the seat style we prefer for durability. We wanted to replace one -- same brand, bamboo wood, round -- whose hinges had metal finish that was peeling and flaking, but it lasted for many years before the metal finish gave out. We couldn't find one in the store, so we ordered this one.It said Brushed Nickel Hinge in the product description. It has sturdy plastic hinges. The only brushed nickel we see is on the decorative hinge cover. That was one of the features we wanted when we shopped. Metal hinges, no finish to flake. These are plastic. Some metal cap, that's it.On trying to install it, we ran into a couple of problems, so, needless to say, we are not having an easy time installing and want you to know about this. The mounts have flat rubberized pads that are supposed to fit onto the hinge mounts using four little posts that fit into holes. These replace plastic washers from the previous model. The pads won't stay put, so you can't position the thing. I had to lightly glue them down into the piece they're supposed to fit into.Worse! We apparently have a toilet that is old enough that the standard design must have changed. The bowl curves out in the back, near the bolts. That would ordinarily be OK, but! There is a handy tab on the nuts that hold the --> plastic! bolts. That tab sticks out too far to tighten past the curve of the bowl. SO! We thought we could cut off the end of the tab to make it work. No dice. It is a very tough material. We have tried a heavy-duty utility shears. Nope. An exacto(R) knife. Changed the blade on the knife. Nope. Can't even snap it off with a pliers where we scored it. So our next gambit will be using a heavy file on it and if that doesn't work, we'll have to go to a plumbing supply store and find appropriate nuts. (Update, can't find the file.) We don't think at this point we will return it, but be advised, it's no cakewalk to install, even if your bowl doesn't bulge out. We spent almost 2 hours what should have taken about 15 minutes. Time taken to figure out how it works. Realize the rubber pads won't stay put. Try installing with the nut that won't tighten past the bulge. Now we'll have to look for new hardware.Biggest disappointment is that the hinges are plastic. The issue with the tabbed nut is crazy.2Comfortable & StrongThis seat is not hot in the summer nor cold in the winter like plastic seats. It is also sturdier for those who are more full figured. I doubt it will need to be replaced for many years.5Great finish!Love the smooth finish on this seat. Bought this to replace another wood seat that became hostile after water made it splinter. We decided it wasn't worth the risk any longer and bought this one. My husband took to long to get around to installing it, so I installed it myself. It took me all of 10 minutes! Not too bad for my first time.If you find my review helpful, please click the "yes" below. Thanks!5Love!I was tired of the regular white toilet seat in my apartment and wanted to jazz up the bathroom a little. This is beautiful! Yes it is on the red side, hence the "red oak", but that is exactly what I wanted to coordinate with my shower curtain. It warms up the bathroom and I cant help but keep looking in there at it. Will have to cover to protect when i'm coloring my hair, but that's ok, I love it! Good price and fairly easy to install. Thought it may help people decide if they could see what it looks like in a real setting, so I came back to add a picture, hope it helps!5Your bum will thank you. After reading a ridiculous amount of reviews for other wooden/bamboo toilet seats, I took a flyer on this one with no reviews simply because it was the only one I found with a detailed diagram with the measurements in the description pictures. After a couple weeks, I've determined this is great toilet seat. First of all, the opening in the seat is not smaller like most wooden/bamboo seats you find. As you can see, the hinges are plastic with the brushed nickel housing on the clips, so it doesn't slip or slide at all like some wooden/bamboo seats that are mounted on brass bars. It fits my American Standard 6lpf, normal round bowl perfectly. One question I saw asked in every other toilet seat Q&A was the number of bumpers. It has four plastic bumpers on the bottom seat.5Beautiful wood. Cheap, plastic (NOT "nickel") hinges. The wood of this seat was much darker than shown on the listing page. That's ok... in fact, I like it more, as it adds to the variety of wood tones I'm using in my bathroom.Unfortunately, the cheap plastic hinges lasted less than two weeks before one of the mounting pieces broke. Even the piece that is made to look like "nickel" is only cheap, very soft plastic. I was going to simply drill it out and put long bolts through it, but I'm not going to bother.I'm ordering another set of hinges... brass... to mount on this otherwise nice toilet seat, and the cheap plastic will go in the trash.3
