Customer Reviews

Rough, stuck together, only get 8 usableI guess I bought them under the impression they were cheap and good for acrylics. Some of the brushes are extremely rough and the tips are stuck together or large clumps of the brush are stuck together (the straw colored ones). After washing and fumbling with the ends they either lost a bunch of hairs or stayed clumped together. The synthetic typed ones (white) worked well, done having the same problems as the straw colored ones. The bag is handy and nice, overall I still was able to paint so, you get what you pay for. I just wanted a set that I could throw away at the end of my tour. I'm gonna buy nicer next time. 2Great brushes for the price!I ordered these as a starter set of paintbrushes so that I could try my hand at making my own wall art. I thought because they were so reasonably priced I was going to have to deal with poor craftsmanship and have bristles falling out, or the brush heads just falling off completely. I was very pleased when they arrived to see that they are very sturdy! The natural bristle brushes wash off very easily, the synthetic bristles not as well (they are white and my acrylic paint did stain them just a bit), but it isn't a problem at all. The case is great, too. The top folds down and there is a little velcro square in each side to keep it in place when you roll it up to protect the brushes. I was very pleased with them and have used them several times already. 5Great SetI purchased 2 sets of these brushes with fabric holder/organizer. I loved the set so much that I gave the other one away for a gift. The cloth organizer keeps the bushes organized and protected. It rolls up and ties and is very lightweight and its very easy for me to carry a large assortment of bushes with me when I go to my art class or another location to paint. I use it all the time. The brushes come with sizing in them, so I recommend cleaning then first with a natural cleaner such as Turpernoid Natural. The brushes are great. There is an assortment of bristle and synthetic brushes. I paint with water-mixable oil paints or acrylics, or a combination of both in one painting. 5OK for rough work or beginnersThis is an OK set, the brushes are not of the highest quality, after all, you get 24 brushes and a canvas pouch for less than 15 bucks. The bristles on the large flats were coming out while cleaning them, but not too many, maybe 5 or 6 hairs, but I had to clean these 6 in particular before using as they had some sort of glue residue on them, like a white glue, and some light dust which flew off as I fanned the bristles, but only in these 6 flats. Maybe they dipped it in some gel to keep their shape, what ever the reason, I had to wash these 6 brushes with brush soap and water to clean them before I use them. I bought these not to do painting on a canvas, I have other brushes for this (some cost as much as this set alone), but to paint scenery on my models, over plaster etc., where they will get worn out quicker over time, and I don't want to use good brushes for that purpose. So if you are like me, a model railroader, this would be perfect for this. Not saying they won't be good for painting on a canvas, just that is not what I bought them for.The canvas pouch does not hold itself up like in the picture, it is a thinner material than my other pouch, and the top flap on this one falls over where the stitching ends that holds the brushes. Because it is a weak canvas, it is awkward to keep it together and fold back for storage. Not a deal breaker, just the canvas is a weak material. But it will be fine for what I want to do. My other canvas bag will actually stand up on it's bottom edge, it is that thick and strong, just a comparison here. But for the price, it is a good set, and one that anyone wanting to try their hand out in painting, or wanting to get a starter set for their kids, it is a good value, and worth getting for that alone. If you are a beginner, don't let these brushes put you off from painting, as you get better, you will eventually buy better brushes, but to start? Good set. 4Too big for me. Nice set though. This is a really nice set, but I had to return them because they were just way too big for me. I m just starting out and managing a brush this large isn t for me and is more someone using an easel instead of a pad of watercolor paper. If you want large brushes, then this set would be very nice for you. The storage case it comes with is very nice and the brushes appear very nice as well. 4Too "cheap"This is the first set of paintbrushes that I bought for myself. I've used them... about 4 times now. Maybe I just haven't broken them in?They feel cheap to me. The bristles are too hard and leave really unsatisfying streaks. I've used other paint brushes before. I recently took some paint classes that was actually what prompted me to want to buy a set of painting supplies for myself. These paint brushes do feel inferior to the paint brushes I used in the classes. A note to make is that the classes weren't extremely professional crafts classes. They were just social get togethers ("Paint nite"), so I think I can safely assume their paintbrushes weren't the terribly expensive kind either, yet they still had a better quality to them.Oh well. Ending thought? I wouldn't suggest buying these. One cool thing is that they do give you 2 sets. I guess that's why it's so cheap. Maybe. 2Good for New Artists or Rough UsageThis is a good set of brushes for the price but should not be ordered for professional use or for serious pieces. For what you pay, though, this is an amazing buy, and it is great for artists who are new, trying new techniques with brushes, or using subpar paints. A few of the heads came off after about 6 months of serious use and cleaning. Reattaching them with a glue gun was pretty simple. 5Tips hard? Here's the fixI purchased this set for my daughters birthday. The set was nicely put together in a canvass roll. That's a big plus for me as it keeps the brushes organized. I feel the brushes are of decent quality and work really well for my 11 year old to paint her pictures. The set comes with 24 brushes, the bristols of the 6 flat white nylon brushes were stuck together. I know sometimes you run your fingers across them and they unstick. Well these did not, they were pretty stuck. I sent an e-mail to Art Advantage via their website and received a quick and timely response (3 hours according to email time stamps). Brogan explained that it was glue and I should be able to move the bristols around to get the glue off. I had to pick it off as opposed to just brushing the bristols as you would expect. With a little bit of force and a few lost bristols ( nothing to be concerned about) I was able to remove the glue and now have a complete set :). The set is worth the five stars for sure, but the customer service I received will bring me back as a future customer. I should also mention that Brogan offered to replace the set if I I could not get the glue off or was not satisfied after trying this. And the true finale stamp of approval is my daughter loves them. Thanks Art Advantage for putting out a great product and for STANDING behind it. 5Solid investment!Super nice roll up case,Good variety of brushes,Feel nice in hand.I am a beginner so these worked perfectly for my intentions. However, when I become better, I will be upgrading.*********************UPDATE 30 days after purchase*********************Overall, the brushes are still pretty solid and not frayed or split for the most part. The larger, white handled bristles have become brittle however. From time to time, the bristles do come loose and fallout. But for the price, and the amount of brushes you get, I would still recommend. 4A very good valueI bought this set so I could them for scrubbing and such ...didn't want to ruin my 40.00 brushes on that...and I have found that I'm using them for a lot more things when working on desert scenes. they're a good value and much much better quality than I had expected....can't go wrong for the price 5
