Customer Reviews

This all-clad is a shame!I bough this because it's All-clad ! And I'm disappointed ! After a few months of use the inside lining material keep peeling and peeling! Including is a picture .i do want my refund,it's expensive and it's worthless! 1Made in China not USATheir products are all made in China. Not made in USA as it says on the item description. I bought two items thinking purchasing American made products. It was a big disappointment when the products arrived. They all look good but they shouldn t say all handcrafted in the USA when actual products says made in China. 1Clarification of some long-standing confusions of this kettleI write to clarify some long-standing confusions about this product.First, I did notice some "rusty points" on the inside bottom surface after using it for several weeks. However, I found that these points were actually not rust and they came from the water, not from the steel of the kettle, as I was able to remove them by my fingers.Second, I did notice the advertisement saying that the "interior" of the kettle is made of aluminum, which raised my great concern as I do not want to have dementia in future. However, I found that this statement is an English grammar mistake as the "interior" in the advertisement actually refers to the interlayer between steel layers. And I'd like to make it clear that the inside surface of the kettle that contacts water is made of steel.Third, I did see some terrible pictures showing the appearance of the kettle after months of use. I guess it depends on how you use it. One major shortcoming of the manual of this kettle is that it did not tell the temperature limit of usage. I myself have an electric oven/stove and I usually use "middle" or "mid-high" level of temperature for this kettle and I never used "high" temperature. I believe the "high" level temperature is harmful to all cookwares.Today it is so hard to find a healthy kettle in the United States. It's almost impossible to find a plastic-free electric kettle today, and the only pure steel electric kettle is not in good-quality (I am not gonna say the product brand) as one inner portion of that kettle was made of iron and soon got rusty. On the other hand, if you want to buy a non-electric, pure steel kettle, you will find it impossible to find a 100%-made-in-USA steel kettle. But the steel quality of this product seems to be fine although it is not made in the USA. Most importantly, it seems that it is the only option for me, as I want a healthy, pure steel kettle.I give 4 stars for it and if it is made in the USA, I will give 5 stars. 4Lives Up to Expectations...I prefer to buy things, once. That generally (but not always) means buying something a little more expensive. It always means researching a lot and finding something made with, made of, and designed with quality/quality in mind. I've bought more than a couple tea pots in my lice and all of them were crap. They eirther fell apart, were impossible to clean (became corroded), or just didn't function well (didn't whistle at all, etc.).I believe this is the last tea pot I will ever buy. Yes, the whistle is on the quiet side, but I generally listen to White Snake at ear-bleeding levels AFTER I have my tea or boil water for my press...It's plenty loud enough and not jarringly so for me. But more over, it's built incredibly well, cleans easily (if it's on the stove after frying something, Barkeeper's Friend is a must), and it's beautiful. I'm not sure why the handle wasn't made more insulated you will need a pot holder to poor but it's not a deal breaker in any way. I would definitely recommend it its worth the money. 5Quality merchandise and service.Prior to this purchase I invested in a large collection of All Clad cookware. I've been more pleased with All Clad products than any other cookware previously purchased. Although this kettle was fabricated in China, I anticipate equivalent performance. After washing out the kettle and thoroughly rinsing it, I boiled a kettle full of water. In short order the kettle began to whistle indicating, loud enough to be heard at the opposite end of my capacious apartment. While loud enough, it wasn't a shrill annoying whistle. I enjoy the balanced weight of this kettle. Yes, because the entire kettle (handle included) are made of stainless steel, it was necessary to use a potholder to avoid a burn injury...a small price to pay for a great vessel. As of this moment I am a very happy customer.wrj, Owings Mills, MD This is an addendum to an earlier review of my recent purchase of the All-Clad stainless steel kettle. I've noticed there are several negative comments about this kettle, such as white flecks in the water, to a filmy discoloration on the interior of the kettle. After daily use, my interior is as shiny as when I first bought it. One thing though, I use bottled water. I find that I don't get like scale on my pots, this kettle, my clothes iron or my drip coffeemaker. I'm thinking that the reported white flecks in poured water could be that scale flaking off the inside surface. Distilled white vinegar can help eliminate limescale buildup. As for residue on the outside, I remove my kettle from the stove before frying/sauteeing to avoid free radicals from settling on my kettle. Just a thought. 5Lots of Pros. Some Cons. Mine Whistles Fine. Wish it was made in USA.I think my title says it all.All steel construction. Feels weighty and solid. I don't see any plastic anywhere Shiny Polish. Hasn't developed haze or patina with use.No rust. I boil water then leave it in there for days. No issue with rust on the inside or outside or anywhere.Large capacity holds plenty of water.Boils quickly because of large flat baseSoft whistle. Loud enough but not shrill/shriekingHandles get hot. Spout cover gets hot. Use a towel or let it coolLid fits snug and doesn't fall when you pourSpout cover stays open when pouringThere are some cons though. And why I docked 1 star from my review.Price. $100 is a lot for a tea kettleMade in China. I expect All-Clad to be made in the USA. Especially when it's a $100 tea kettleEven after washing thouroughly with soap and water, I noticed metal polish in the seams and had to give it a thorough detail inside and out. Especially the lid. Turned my rags black. To be safe. I washed twice with soap and hot water after the full detail. Then boiled fresh water in it 5 times (dumping and refilling each time) before I felt comfortable using. I boil water to make formula bottles for my baby. So I have to be particularly cautious.ALL-CLAD: PLEASE MAKE YOUR STUFF IN THE USA!!! THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE LIKE ABOUT YOUR COMPANY!!! 4This kettle is not up to ALL Clad standards and has numerous problems. This kettle's whistle went kaput within weeks of owning, it then developed a small but detectable leak near it's spout and finally showed signs of corrosion on the interior bottom. The lid is very badly fitted and you will need strong strong hands to remove it after a few months of service. It is less than two years into my ownership and I would not do this again. As a premium priced product this performance is not acceptable. Not sure what the warranty says but I am sure this is heading to the trash. 1Let me first say I love All-Clad products and have a large collection of the ...Let me first say I love All-Clad products and have a large collection of the cookware. The two reasons I buy All-Clad is the quality/purity of the metal and that the manufacturing is done in the united states. Unfortunately this teakettle is not made in the united states and after three months of use I found that the metal quality was very poor. After three months of daily use I noticed rust spots on the inside bottom of the kettle. This is extremely worrying since that is a sign of un pure stainless steel. Chinese manufactures have been known to use low quality metal to save costs and puts the consumers safety at risk. Low quality stainless steel can contain very harmful chemicals that leech into the food or water and slowly poisons the person using it.I'm willing to pay a premium for safe cookware and thats why I have purchased All-Clad products but this kettle is not up to the standards that I expect from the company. My recommendation to All-Clad is to only produce there products in the United States where labor laws and quality are regulated. After noticing the rust spots in the kettle I contacted All-Clad and they stood behind there life time guarantee and sent me a new kettle. I'm thankful for the new kettle but I'm still hesitant to use it since the metal quality is in question. I use a kettle daily for my coffee and tea. I do not want to worry about harmful chemicals in my boiled water. 2Buyer beware!I purchased two of these. BOTH had to be discarded because the the whistle did not work! Both times I was distracted by a phone call and the whistle on the kettle never made a sound. As a result, the water evaporated and the kettles burned so badly I had to dispose of them. Especially for older people this is a hazard. I will buy no more and advise friends of family to beware of possible problems. 1Hums loudly on induction cooktop. Poor customer service at All-Clad.This teapot makes a loud hum on an induction cooktop. We have many All-Clad pots and pans and the don't make noise. Called All-Clad and they were not at all helpful. Very poor customer service. Too late to return to Amazon. This teapot is made in China. All other All-Clad pans are made in USA. This pot needs to be made in USA not China. China steel is not as good as US steel. 1
