    Great, huge digital clockGreat, huge digital clock. The numbers are incredibly bright and easy to read from across the room. It might be a little bright for some folks, but we have really loved having such a good, easy to read, clock in the bedroom now. I would definitely recommend if you want something with huge digits. 5Thank you for making this clockInstallation on the wall definitely requires some work unless you opt to put this on a desktop. But I wouldn't recommend that because it's a little bit light and the weight of the cord might yank it from the table.Choosing a location on the wall could be a little bit limiting as the power cable is not very long (3m / 9 feet). Standard heights of walls are usually 9 feet so the cable stretches just enough to reach the power source. Therefore, a location right above a socket is almost always imperative, unless of course you have a cord extension.The LED display is definitely not as bright as the devil red eyes bright that the others have sworn but just bright enough to be visible during daytime or when the lights are on.Construction is not much of a standout as it feels like a cheap plastic and at times gave me the impression that it's frail and easily breakable. But since it will never be touched again after installation, provided it was not damaged during handling, makes its cheap plasticky feel not that big of a deal. Although I would have been willing to spend a little more if it were made of aluminum or something sturdier.Be careful when taking this clock out of its box as there are two screws that hold it onto the box that are not readily visible (transparent washers). These screws are only for fixing the clock on to the box and don't have any other functions whatsoever, as far as I'm concerned. I had no prior idea that its boxing would be like this so I just ripped it off from the box. Fortunately, One of the screws broke and it made me realize that I had to unscrew the other. The clock has sustained some damage, but since the damage was on the back and won't be visible, it didn't really matter. I was just a little disappointed because it felt like I am having a damaged good.Adjustment of time and other information was a breeze. On the back of the clock, there are three buttons: UP, NEXT, DOWN. Just press the NEXT button repeatedly to cycle through the fields. Use the UP or DOWN to increase or decrease the values, respectively.Overall, this clock fits the bill of what I wanted a clock to look like but not exactly what I was looking for. If it had the relative humidity reading, then this would have been the perfect clock for me. But since appearance for me is a little bit more important than function, I went with this clock anyway and I have no regrets.Out of 10 this is a 9, but since the scale that amazon uses is only up to 5, I had to round 4.5 off to 5. 5NOT HAPPY WITH PURCHASE!!Received my clock with scratches all over the face of the screen and dusty/dirty in other words wasn't new but used! It also did not come with the power cable or instructions so it's useless! NOT HAPPY WITH PURCHASE!! 1Saving my marriage and projectsAround 6:00 PM my wife would scream at me to come in and help her with dinner. What drove her more nuts is that it takes a little time to clean up after being out in the woodshop for hours. And this all happened because I routinely loose track of time when I'm heads-down in a project. With the bright red glow from this clock illuminating the entire back corner of my woodshop I have no excuses. With excuses out of the way I now have a happy wife because I know when 5:00 PM is and have ample time to get the tools put away along with my sawdusted clothes.Aside from helping make my marriage better, this clock also helps me know when I can use finish products. Lacquers, polyurethanes, waxes, and glue like temperatures above 50 degrees F. In the winter, spring, and fall my Vermont shop can get quite chilly, so knowing when I can finish in the garage is nice. Yes, that means there is a thermometer on this clock. I wish I had noticed the thermometer only reads down to 32 degrees (freezing) because I might have looked around for a thermometer too, but after a few days all is good. The marriage is more important and it certainly does read 50 degrees. 5Very nice LED ClockVery nice LED Clock !!! Its display is crisp and bright, and its red numbers and data can be read very clearly at very long distances, even from far away, from the most distant point from a corner in a 130 people auditorium, where this one will be installed. Great quality, easy to set up. The temperature readings can be switched from F to C easily. It is not battery operated, so it has to be plugged to a regular electrical outlet. Highly recommendable!!! 5Company keeps you on hold until they are closed then tells you to call back.Not sure it is new. No fake sticker on front. Powers on but will not allow it to be set. Can get it to change date and all the number in sequence but that's it. Plug it in and it lights up all the LED segments. Never actually goes into a clock mode. Called the manufacturer. Toll free number in instructions has been replaced with a toll number and I know why after calling at 1:00pm CST and sitting on hold until 512pm CST and when I was the next person in line and it was my turn to talk to a "real" person the phone system said there is an unknown error and we cannot complete your phone call, please call back. Did I mention that this company closes at 5:00pm CST. Means I was the last idiot that stayed on the line to talk to someone about this POS Chinese made crap. Don't buy this. Took a risk. Heard and read numerous reviews of AcuRite products. Cheaply made in China. Going to return to Amazon and request a refund. If I could give this a zero stars review I would. Terrible customer service, actually no customer service. Think they have only one person on the phone. Like I said, called at 1:00pm CST and was told 29th person in line. At 5:12pm next and when the phone started ringing and I thought that I would be able to get a replacement product, nope phone error please call back. Did and knew I would get the we are closed message. BS. Now I know why they discontinued the toll free number. They were taking a bath on the phone charges, probably ate up all their profit. Sad. 1Best clock I've purchased in the past 30 years!!!I wanted a big clock for my wall. And as you can see by the 16 ounce Coke bottle in the picture, this clock is huge! Other reviewer's say it's too bright. While I will agree it's bright, you get used to it. When I first took it out of the box and hung it up, I thought it was too bright as well. But over the past week and a half I've actually had it hanging in my bedroom to test the brightness and haven't lost one minute of sleep since I hung it up. That's probably due to the red color. I think the blue would have kept me up as it would've been lighting up the room. If it's too bright for you, just get some 20% limo tint from your nearest auto parts store, or here on Amazon, and apply layers until you're happy. But if you like big clocks folks, this is the one for you, get it! :-) 5Large Red Clock of Ultimate RednessThe clock is perfect for wall-mounting or being placed at distance in a brightly-lit environ. The major issue I had was that there were no LED brightness adjustments available to knock it down a notch or seven. The clock was bright enough that I could see the demonic red glow of the LEDs from across the apartment. Other than that, the clock does correctly keep track of time and the date and temp displays work. As for me, I'll be treating my clock to some major league tinting or breaking out "Ye Olde Soldering Iron" to add a bit of dimming action myself. 3Disappointing...We had a lot of expectations from AcuRite products in general, as we have used many of them in the past, but this item, unfortunately, did not live up to them.The indoor temperature is totally off, and as we have placed it in the baby's room, it was very important to get the temperature in the room as accurate as possible. As the pics we've added can demonstarate, the La Crosse clock in an adjacent room, shows 64 degrees at 6 in the morning, which feels about right, while the AcuRite clock always shows 81-84 degrees regardless of the time of the day.In addition, the AcuRite clock is falling behind about 5 minutes every 24 hours. Not acceptable!Unwillingly, we had to promptly return it. 1Great clock. Excessive brightness [SOLVED]Great clock. The 14", red digits are quite large for a bedroom but works well and is accurate to a second in a couple weeks. This is a very, very bright display which is too bright for my bedroom. I solved this very nicely and easily with 2 layers of window tinting film. From the local auto parts store I bought a roll of Gila Window Tint, 35%, regular smoked, cheapest version, which costs less than $10. Cut 2 pieces of the film that will cover the flat area of the clock face. It doesn't have to be exact. Then take a small bowl of water add some soap or a little dish washing liquid. Moisten a tissue with this soapy water and liberally apply to the front of the clock. Then apply the first layer of tinting film and starting from the center use a dry tissue and your finger to push air bubbles out towards the edge until flat. It doesn't have to be perfect. If you want the clock to be dimmer then apply another layer of film but instead of soapy water use something like a water-based lubricant such as KY jelly or vegetable oil. I found that the second layer of film didn't stick to the first layer using soapy water. Push out the air bubbles. You could also just tape the film to the clock face. If the clock had a dimmer control it would be 5 stars.[Edit 01] It's been over a month and the clock is still doing great in my bedroom since I solved the brightness issue. I've found that the temperature is very useful as it sets the tone for the night. It's kept accuracy to within 3 seconds in the last month. Well done. 4
