    Spend a little more with 3m brand. Every 6 mos - 1 year needs to be replaced. Else pressure will be low. You have to release all the pressure from your house pipes, water from within the house and valve from the outside feed. There is a little red pump that you press till there is not more water coming out, then you can loosen the catridge. Else it will not come off 4Works Great These filters are as advertised. I learned when putting my water system in that I had to remove the top black rubber gasket on this filter to keep it from leaking. I tried everything to stop a small leak in the filter. Finally took the top gasket off and bingo--no leak. My filters lasts about three months before getting really brown with crud. 5Fit great and last for about 6 months fit perfect and works well, wish they were a bit cheaper. For the first 6 months the system is perfectly clean. I will usually get a little bit of red shale particles in water system when time to change at 6 month interval. I keep a spare o-ring and some food grade silicon grease and a marker with labels next to the filter housing to keep track of filter changes. I also chlorine shock the well before changing the filter, flush the system after 24 hours, then change the filter about 5 days after the shock treatment when the well has returned to normal (shock treatment releases iron and sediment from well that would clog a new filter). 4and it tastes great. Not really something one waxes on about We've been using these exact filters for 15 years - ever since we bought our house. We change them every 6 months and they are usually black and filled with sediment. We have really hard well water, and I can't imagine how many ruined appliances, etc. we would have had if not for this. Seeing what it stops also gives a bit more piece of mind about drinking the water...and it tastes great. Not really something one waxes on about, but they do their job. The only hard part is opening the filter housing to change the filter. 5Using this name brand since we installed the housing I am not a plumber so as a novice it goes on pretty easily....I suggest putting a bucket under the housing when removing the old filter....It really catches the rust from the old water lines...I do recommend this product for every household. 5Filtering Water It is nice to find this filter as I have used others, only lasting 3 months vs 6 months and there is one better in stock, this filter works for my area. Now if I can find a replacement for the plastic housing so two can be set up. 5Great primary filter for my well water. Good flow rate and great holding capacity before there's a pressure drop-off. Using this in front of my carbon filter has extended the life of the more expensive filter. 5Thought my water was clean before!!!!!! Moved into a 4 year old home in 2013 thought I would install some whole house filters to remove sediment and odor purely for ease of mind. This home was built utilizing PLEX tubing so I was very comfortable with knowing I would have zero chance us corrosion in my pipes. I went with the Aqua-Pure AP800 series. I ended up putting two filters side by side to get the most filtration while not restricting water flow. Even if I had some redundancy between the two filters I didn't mind. The filters I used were the AP810 and the AP817. The results were outstanding. You really couldn't tell the difference in bottled water versus my filtered water. I replaced them for the first time after 14 months and you can literally see what the previous homeowners were dealing with. 5hard to get excited over a whole house water filter ... hard to get excited over a whole house water filter but this does the job - it's a 5 micron filter so it catches quite a lot and is shaped in such a way that it doesn't clog up and reduce my water pressure 5Bad quality control and no 3m backup help I used these filter two years ago and t hey worked find. HOWEVER the latest ones I used made my water cloudy ( NOT AIR BUBBLES) and I could not clear up the milky water after hours of running the water. Called 3M and no help. They gave me somebody Mr Phelps who has not given me any help. Finally bought another filter from Keystone filters and NOW I have clean water. I will NEVER buy anything from 3M company again. NO customer service. and crappy filters. I tried 4 filters and all were milky and rancid tasting. 1
